Ritagera04:*sigh* Using an agent is always tricky, there's nothing they can do for you that you can't do for yourself. But if you do insist on using one, make sure it's the payment after service type (they are rare but they exist) you pay nothing & lose nothing. On a previous page on the thread someone mentioned something about losing their b1 visa when they later showed up to interview for an f1 visa. Not sure of the details, you can go through the thread. University of Houston is a good school if you can afford it. Their admission process isn't hell. I'm not sure you need gmat or gre for grad school, toefl/ielts at most, then again I did law so what do I know, the requirements may differ. Put in the work and look for a good school that you will like yourself it's not hard. Feel free to check the US school thread for enquiries relating to school. https://www.nairaland.com/6354180/general-usa-student-visa-enquiries-part |
Champora:Thank you |
oluayebenz:I am not married. Yes, I did grad school in the States. |
pufframmy:Thank you. No it is not. |
Visa approved June 8th Time: dunno couldn't go in with a digital watch. Doubt my transcript would be of any help because my interview was incredibly brief. I was asked only 3 questions:- 1. Why are you going to the US? 2. Where are you going? 3. What do you do? I noticed that people who were interviewed before me were asked more questions than I was. The man barely looked at me. He spent more time typing away on his computer. My appointment was for 9am but my big head didn't make it to the consulate till like 9:30. There was no queue at the entrace of the screening hall probably because everyone but me came early enough. The security guards asked for bribe before letting me in. Typical. There weren't a lot of people there so I didn't have to wait long before proceeding to the interview hall. There were 3 VOs and for some reason they took their time with the applicants and asked quite a bit of qquestions. They weren't even rushing. I saw a few F1 applicants young and not so young get denied. Some parents who went with their kids got denied as well after tensioning them with more questions. NOTE: those who agents for their entire application process should be careful. Filling a ds-160 form isn't hard, take your time and do it yourself. Two people who used agents were sent back at the screening hall. One of them had a confirmation printout that said june 8th 2021 but when they checked their records it was for March 2022. Try to at least log into your profile to see the thing yourself. Print your confirmation yourself instead of showing up with some document some shady guy gave you. |
You are correct. We don't have a right to be granted a visa, but that isn't what he is talking about. The embassy through its website is giving the impression that they are processing visas albeit limited. Booking a date is the very last step. You can't view the calendar ahead of payment. You can't book appointments unless you have paid. Available dates are in 2024 but payment is valid for a year. We are in 2021. Haba. Make it make sense. It is pure extortion. If they put the right information on their website instead of making it seem like they're open to everyone, people will conform and find their square root elsewhere instead of throwing away 67k without even getting an interview at all. Seankay323:Looool what?! Sorry for laughing. Are you sure it's not 2022 you saw? You can pay for a date. Wouldn't recommend. I paid for a 2021 date. But only because I didn't know I could wait and find one myself much later. Not finding a calendar there threw me off & I hadn't discovered this thread then. |
Nnatuu:Three F1 refusals is a lot especially in such a short period of time, I'm assuming between 2018 (which was when your B1 was renewed) and 2019/2020. Basically it was back to back to back refusals. Not a good look but some VOs don't really care about a previous denial which was what happened in my case. Was denied b2 in 2015 was granted f1 in 2016. You also have a pending immigration petition which may not help your "I'm not trying to run away" argument. It may or may not be brought up. In my case my petition wasn't brought up during my interview but it could've been because we cancelled it and a lot of years had passed, I was a minor when it was filed, almost 10 years had passed. That you have a daughter here might help. Your previous travel history may help too, since you didn't overstay or contravene the terms of your visa. Your employment in said leading company and your start-up too. What might not help is this back to back to back to back applications you have going on 2018 - 2021. Sheesh. |
Pascopele:While I agree that sanitary pads should indeed be free, I don't see anything wrong with free condoms either. Despite free condoms, many still have unprotected sex. |
The date is not the problem. Although, you messed up royally, I mean even when I take my 14 year old niece out, it costs way more than 2k, not to speak of a grown woman who you hope to have a relationship with. Haba. It's okay to have a budget. Being broke is not a sin. The real issue is your mentality. Instead of appreciating how she handled the situation (like a sensible woman who took her own money even though she was in her house minding her business, when a certain shirt-borrowing, 2k wielding someone asked her out), you came here to call her "a glutton" and accused her of being "full of herself" Why? Because she paid for food she ordered for both of you? The nerve.... It's one thing to be broke, it's another thing to ask a lady (who can take care of herself) to severely limit herself just to make you feel like "the man...the boss" And if you ate from the food she ordered, the only glutton here is you. You handled yourself horribly. Class - zero. Tact - zero |
Lol. The latter. Please. |
It's 2019 please. There is no one size fits all when it comes to marriage. This is something you discuss with your fiancé/fiancée before you marry them to be sure you're on the same page. Some men don't mind handling expenses 100% and some expect their partners to pitch in. |
Depends.... If you guys are simply friends with zero feelings involved, it really shouldn't be a big deal. |
4llerbuntu:Thank you. She's a 2014 Toyota Highlander. I drive her just to work and back nothing major. I already did an oil change but they didn't mention anything about assessment. Noted 5000 miles, I'll do the math. Thanks again |
Hello everyone, I want to service my car but I don't know what needs to be done. My car seems very very fine, I changed the oil, oil filter and air filter last November. A friend of mine said cars need to be serviced every 3 months, I don't know how accurate this statement is. I never serviced my former car that often. She seems very fine, my dashboard isn't displaying any problems. But you never know, better safe than sorry. And before anyone asks what I'd been doing for maintenance, I used to take her to the auto dealer where I got her. I don't know what they did, I just showed up for appointments. And no I can't go to my dealer because I moved back to Nigeria and brought my car with me. I read through this thread and everyone keeps mentioning "scans" So do I take her to a mechanic and simply ask for a car scan? Or just wait for the dashboard to say there's a problem? How do you know what to check for? Please don't be mean or unnecessarily sarcastic, I genuinely do not know anything. |
Gavorche:Basically you're attracted to men with breasts implants. |
Chi59:Simmer down no one is fighting you. You're contradicting yourself, you titled this thread "should I lie to him" meaning you're considering it. I simply asked whether you would be okay if he failed to tell you his situation if you were in his shoes. Take this example: you marry a man, you later find out he may not be able to impregnate you. How would you handle that? And the lool was for the unnecessary self promotion. I wasn't making fun of your situation. I'm sorry. |
Hi everyone, I'm new here and just stumbled upon this thread, and yes i am an introvert but I am working on it. It can be annoying when people who don't know you assume you're proud or arrogant simply because you keep to yourself. My parents and their friends started to think I would wither away. So i started to make efforts to work on myself. And I've come a looooooong way. Back then if a classmate paid me a surprise visit I'd lie and say i wasn't home even when they were standing right in front of my gate. There was a time I had to go out and ran into my old classmates, I legit turned back and went through another street. And dating wasn't even in my books (how does one date when they're hidden away?) This one was the one that worried my folks the most, along with weight gain. I got really fat i weighed 210 pounds It wasn't until I traveled out of the country for my llm that i started to take control of my life. My mom got me a gym membership and I managed to shed 45 pounds which gave my self esteem a huuuuuge boost. Came back to the country and resumed work as a corporate lawyer. I tell you, having responsibilities will help tackle being an introvert. Traffic helps too in its own frustrating way, trying to avoid traffic made me find after work activities. I go to the movies or visit a restaurant or go see a stage play much to the joy of my parents. I even have friends now and we have sleepovers in my house. Yes i can now entertain people. |
Looool. Anyways. What I always say is do unto people what you want to be done to you. If the tables are turned, would you be happy if he lied. Avoid stories that touch and be honest. |
