Romance / Re: Which Of These Two Women Should I Marry? by NiteAngel(m): 1:59am On Apr 24, 2007
Soundmind,
I doubt that you are asking because you don't have an answer. Your confusion only stems from accepting what your mind or your third leg tells you.

It's such a pitiable situation for the ladies you have put under the telescope or is it microscope; you are gbaduning (enjoying) the two both of 'em whilst planning to settle down into the responsible 'monogamous' men club undecided

Be a man; quit sleeping with them for 3-months and decide which of them remains a worthy friend without the sexual strings attached. My suggestion, go for that; there'll be more challenges than yelling in bed or bad character when the real music starts.

Debbieolat, thanks. I hope Olaniyi will have something great to write as well.

9ja4eva,
Why the laughter? This is serious business and straight from the heart.

If I were to write my own and not have a mortal do so for me it will be simple; something like -

Grow old with me
Let's learn the junk
And enjoy the joy of love
Daily

if you consider this dry, simply provide yours and wait for a better version.
Health / Lemon & Hiv/aids by NiteAngel(m): 1:24am On Apr 24, 2007
During the International Spermatology Conference in Cape Town, Professor Roger Short a professor at the University of Melbourne who supports the theory that circumcision provides protection against aids came up with nature’s answer. According to him, lemon juice killed hiv in a test tube. The suggestion is that you wipe your penis with lemon juice after sex to prevent being infected.

Aren’t men always looking for an easy way out?

Use condom. No. Why? I don’t consider that as sex.

Do vasectomy. No. What if I want more children?

Do withdrawal. How easy will that be?

Okay, abstain when the woman is ovulating. Body no be wood.

If you choose to use the lemon juice theory, be smart enough to confirm your status and brave enough to cope with it after the enjoyment. If I were you I’ll take a preventive option before (not after).

But I’ll like to know your take on this and other theories.

Good point.

Really it's all about being sincere, who keeps the vows anyway? For richer, you stay, for poorer you quit.

A man pursuing green card once asked his bother to attend his wedding on his behalf and of course read the vows in his place and sign for him while he ensured he phoned all day to register his loyalty. Years down the line he looks the woman in the face to say I signed no contract with you. I don't know undecided but the loop holes in our laws is the only thing that allowed for a stand-in at a contract signing of that magnitude. Men grumble about women not adopting their names but women actually sign their maiden names not the Mrs name on the contract, they use their maiden name signature. So the contract is with the Miss but you live it out with the Mrs.

Try writng your own vows on this thread, let's see what you come up with,

According to gun shop owner the loner passed the gun test and thus gained access to a weapon he used to send people to their graves while some living to tell the story are still hanging out in the hospital. How do you let a shop owner determine eligibility for gun purchase in a country so developed.

The time to start counseling a child is the very moment you notice strange behavior; a professor said he was advised to go for counseling but I doubt that the professor counselled him. Too much freedom results in this kind of animal reaction; I'm sure it would have been seen as an invasion of privacy if the professor on the basis of the tragic play written by this guy had gone further to pry or counsel him. Where does that leave the society.

The next thing now is for Asians and those who fall into this boy's origin to be denied visa but is that the solution. Instead of taking it as a problem that should be solved, blame is being laid on different doorsteps.
Business / Re: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by NiteAngel(m): 4:01am On Apr 18, 2007
Honestly I don't hold your view 4 Play so I'll let it pass.

Jesu Seun; I had an opportunity of doing a Community Development project in Niger too, this no doubt pass for ISR.
We really should be thinking of ISR. If the dundu (fried yam) seller by the road side who has been forced to make a living by the road becomes socially responsible she may jolly well decide to fix the blocked drain or provide a trash can (hopefully that won't become a menace).

In praise of those who have contrinuted to improving the society; Nestle through the Milo Basket Ball Tournament supports the development of especially the young ones. De-United Foods Industries Limited (Indomie Noodles) helps those who have taken to street food selling with Kiosks; I know this raises another argument, should they be selling on the street? But,  Globacom is pulling her weight behind the FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea.

Sure, SR is an investment; so much branding and merchandising goes with the delivery. But it's an option worth exploring especially in a country where tax even if duly paid is never well utilised by the government.
Religion / Re: Different Vows For Groom And Bride In Some Churches by NiteAngel(m): 3:40am On Apr 17, 2007
I'm sure those who came up with for better for worse had their genuine reason but with all these complexities isn't it better for the couple to say a vow that comes from their hearts maybe then you'll actually hear some men saying "as long as you obey me there won't be trouble" and some women saying "as long as you keep it in your pants, I'll love you forever."

What ya think
Crime / Re: Shooting At Virginia Tech by NiteAngel(m): 3:21am On Apr 17, 2007
According to reports the initial mail went out about two hours after the first round of shooting. Heads will roll in a country where things work but can that bring back the dead?
Business / Re: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by NiteAngel(m): 3:13am On Apr 17, 2007
Akara, I doubt that this is so. Every one knows what it is to give back; whether it is being done or not is another issue.

I kind of support the view that SR is an investment. If the road to your company is bad and you don't support fixing it, you not only lose business, it sends out a bad signal to the society.

While a number of oil companies are having problems with natives, Mobil has enjoyed a level of stability. One of the reasons being that in the area where their business is located in Eket power outage does not exist as in there is power 24/7. If they had failed to do this in addition to other contributions I'm not sure business can continue on a daily basis as usual. If one company can do that don't you think supporting such initiatives will have a huge effect on the economy?
Business / Re: How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by NiteAngel(m): 3:04am On Apr 17, 2007
We may not agree about what constitute SR or whether it is or should be carried out by companies (not just banks). The argument about what CSR is or is not could also go on forever but we can take a look at what some companies have done or what others have failed to do.

Talking about FATE Foundation; it's indeed a beautiful initiative but how well are the aspiring entrepreneurs supported so that they actually establish a businesses?

I'm aware that Intercontinental Bank in addition to sponsoring education also support infrastructure in some schools. Zenith Bank also renovated (I don't know if they were supported by other companies) the Ajose Adeogun road. You should have seen what Danmole Street in Victoria Island looked like before it was fixed by (I guess) Intercontinental Bank.

Whether you see this as charity or not it has improved their profile and by implication impacted on their profit in addition to making life better fro everyone who now use the road

I really don't know how far haters can go. Earlier today no fewer than 30 students were sent to their graves by a blood sucking guy who unfortunately is not alive to answer to his own deed. If it's not madness spurred by religion, it will be insanity occasioned by race or ethnicity or lunacy incited by power drunkenness, Be it in Afghanistan or Nigeria or Sudan or Nigeria. Violence of any kind should not be condoned but what happens when there is no one to bring to the books?

Parent, guardians, brothers and sisters have a role to play; when you fail to mentor a child, when you turn the other eye, when you shrug your shoulder because you feel unconcerned remember that the impact may very well boomerang at your doorstep.

My condolence goes to all members of Virginia Tech and families/friends/folks of the dead students. But to the family of the guy who caused this I wonder what to offer,

Summary of Previous Incidents:
Until Monday, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history was in Killeen, Texas, in 1991, when George Hennard plowed his pickup truck into a Luby's Cafeteria and shot 23 people to death, then himself.

The massacre Monday took place almost eight years to the day after the Columbine High bloodbath near Littleton, Colo. On April 20, 1999, two teenagers killed 12 fellow students and a teacher before taking their own lives.

Previously, the deadliest campus shooting in U.S. history was a rampage that took place in 1966 at the University of Texas at Austin, where Charles Whitman climbed the clock tower and opened fire with a rifle from the 28th-floor observation deck. He killed 16 people before he was shot to death by police.

Thanks all.

Seun, when you say the only social responsibility is not to cheat; isnt that going beyond what we can control? Beyond fulfilling a need businesses are mainly for profit and often when the hook way doesn't work the next line of action ever before thinking of quiting is the crook way.

And 4 Play says no charity, when obviously these companies get a lot more than they are willing to give back in reference to tax.
Business / How Socially Responsible Are Companies In Nigeria? by NiteAngel(m): 8:08am On Apr 16, 2007
There's a lot of advantage we can get from the responsibilities taken up by those who benefit from the Nigerian soil.

The Ajose Adeogun road was constructed by Zenith. Some companies encouarge sports, others support education; knowing socially responsible companies will help us know those who give back and by implication help us determine where to put how kobo-kobo.

Thanks for sharing.

The hospitality of my people cannot be found anywhere. I have been around but I have a passion for my home country. Of course eyebrows will be raised but your colour will match cheesy

To warm your your self to the heart of my people start learning the culture now. When you get to Nigeria don't initiate a handshake to your husbands parent; if they are Yorubas before they figure out how to greet you (his mum will most likely hug you) go on your two knees. I won't bother going into a culture lecture; ask your husband because he may be from another ethnic group.

Don't go empty handed and learn at least something positive about the close family members. Don't place yourself on any high pedestal, you'll be brought down faster than you can imagine. Blend (if they are eating with hands, don't ask for fork) and you'll be elevated better than you can imagine.

Whatever the social status of the family he comes from learn to love his people and do it sincerely. Note that people don't wait to be invited before they come and visit, so always have something to welcome them with. Hopefully you won't be a full time housewife.

If you are rich, you can buy whatever comfort you've seen anywhere. If you are not, your survival is not in doubt. As long as you don't go looking for trouble, trouble will elude you. If you are rich and you don't want to become the solver of all family problems start out as being modest. Being kind within your resources will help.

Maybe you can ask direct questions e.g Is power supply available 24/7? No, but if you have the resources power can always be available to you.

Start planning for Nigeria now with a positive attitude your dude may wake up tomorrow homesick

Who else would you lprefer to date? Your enemy?

The reason a number of people shy away from dating friends is because they know you too well and hurting them or being hurt by them cuts so deep.

Love dies when the thread of friendship ends. Most relationships today cry for help because guys (especially) change their position from friends to senior colleagues or bosses or better still employers of labour.
