Very nice summary of the situation.

This is what i was telling Expert. The Glazers only spend just enough to maintain champions league football and make the club viable . And they have never spent their own money, only money made by the club AFTER taking their consultancy fees and paying off the debt they brought on the club.

Every United fan here needs to watch this video.
The video/analysis is BS, so, until the Glazers put in their personal money before you can say that an investment has been made? Nawa o.

Wait, Chelsea has spent just about the same amount we spent last season, while they had no chance to do anything last season, so what are we saying now? Must you invest every season? Some clubs invest massively in a season and only buy one or two players the following season, must you spend 200m every year? Maybe, you guys are angry that Chelsea (a club on transfer ban last season) is spending.

BS!

Maguire 80m. Took 2 months and the whole transfer window to sign.

Chilwell 60m and signed for half the time.

But person go say Woodward is trying. The man can't even price properly.

Did I just read that the card is supposed to be free!?
I was at Abule Egba terminal yesterday and they were selling the cards at N400 each, without credit. You load whatever amount you want after buying the card at the rate of N400
The vendor selling the card was stationed at the back of the buses, out of public view.
Other workers direct you to the vendor, hidden from public view
I witnessed this myself, not dem-say
Oya, go on their website and report what you saw. I believe something will be done about it. That's how we should always act. Dont just complain about it, report it!

I understand that but our squad is the thinnest among the top six, from last summer we've sold Lukaku, Herrera, Sanchez Young and others called deadwood with more on the market like Smalling, Perreira, Dalot, Rojo, Lingard, Jones and Ighalo is leaving January. Now that's a lot of clear out, in as much as I like our academy boys they are not ready apart from Mason, so how are we going to replace all this people with this nonchalant attitude Ed is showing. undecided
Did Woody tell OGS to sell all of them? Be realistic, are all the players you mentioned 'deadwoods' for real? Also, we are clearing 'deadwoods' realising less than 100m, but you want to spend 500m to replace them, after spending close to 1 billion in the last 5 years.

He wasn't even around when they were presenting the medal to his teammates

Mention a single team that has been winning trophies by sacking coach up and down after going three or four years without trophy.
Liverpool started winning trophies in the third or fourth season of Klopp. Chelsea has a stabilized team.
Klopp this, Klopp that! In his first season at Liverpool, he got to finals of the league cup and Europa league. Who would not have kept a manager that did those things within 7 months?

I think he got to UCL final a year or two years later before winning it last year. He also did top 4 consistently from 2016-17 (a season after he was signed) till last season.

In the last 10 years, most successful clubs (in terms of trophies, e.g. Madrid, Juve, Bayern, Barca, Chelsea,) in Europe have hired between 8 and 10 managers. Average of 0.8-0.9 manager per season.

There is no time for DNA and philosophy, abeg.

Fellaini - Moyes
Schneiderlin, Schweini, Depay, Martial, Blind - Van Gaal

Lukaku, Pogba, Bailly, Lindelof, Mkhitaryan - Mou

Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, James, Bruno - Ole...

See how different managers bought according to their own philosophy. Now, how many of those players are still at the club or starting games?

If you don't get the philosophy point, check how Lopetegui performed when he tried to play possession football at Madrid...
I see your point. But Madrid sacked him no? Zizou is more like a counter-attack merchant, Mou was ultra-defensive, and both contributed to Madrid's success in the last 10 years. I feel like randomness guarantees success. Most managers have different philosophy, and that's what can give you success. Because they will come, do their thing differently and fail or win. Just ensure they dont spend heavily and stupidly in the name of trying to exert their philosophies. The Glazers have been too nice abeg.

When 8 mention philosophy, I'm on about what pattern of play we want to adopt as a club. Looking at Liverpool, after Klopp, do you see them going after Mourinho or Simeone? I think not, rather, they'd be looking at Nagelsmann or Tuchel...
Oh, got it.

I mean, it's a tough one, if Simeone is going to give you trophies, go for him. Also, any club can go for any manager jare. Success is the main thing.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by nitrogen(m): 1:02pm On Aug 20, 2020

I have been following the argument closely and TBH, it makes for a good read...

I used to be anti-Glazers whilst Fergie was here because they just didn't splash the cash on quality players as one would've expected. Our midfield was left unattended to for years and whilst we lost key players, they didn't do enough to replace them but over the past couple of years, they've invested in the squad hugely maybe because we started missing out on Europe altogether (sounds plausible)...

The reason why we are still struggling even when the Glazers have brought out the cheque book is because we don't have a football philosophy to guide our player purchases and that's why we desperately need a football man to run to football aspect of the club. Van Gaal came and signed his men, Mourinho came and signed the players he likes which are quite different from the kind of players we signed under Van Gaal and now, Ole is buying his own players. If sacked, we might opt for another manager with an entirely different footballing philosophy...

The club needs to have a direction wherein, player acquisition and manager change will depend on whether or he can fit in our system that way, a new manager will come in and doesn't need a complete clear out like what Pep wanted at Chelsea...
Okay, this makes sense. However, please note that very few managers do a complete clear out. Most times, new managers just buy 3-4 players and win trophies in the first or second season.

It's a mandate, we give you funds 100-150m to sign players, by year 2 you must win trophies or leave, and in year 2, you don't get more than 100m for transfers.

It's working very well. Na only Pep dey do complete clear out because he is a check book manager, meanwhile, I am not sure Bayern allowed him to do that.

Meanwhile, forget this philosophy talk abeg, Na philosophy/DNA/style put us in this mess. again, if things don't work, bring in another manager with fresh ideas (could be different football style) so we can win something abeg.

The only thing worse than appointing the wrong manager is sacking the wrong manager to appoint another wrong or even worse manager.

Sacking and employment of managers should be with sense and a plan, not just wuruwuru to the answer.
Sense and plan Ke? Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern, Juve etc. have been hiring and firing managers at will, with no 'sense', and they've been winning trophies. The world has moved on abeg.

Hire a manager, give him a 1-2 year contract, if things look good, extend by 1 year, if not, sack, and appoint another one. Short term contracts to avoid the Mou situation.

Rinse and repeat.
