AjanleKoko: What, in your view, can be regarded as an 'innovation'?Both, cos they are advanced compared to their previous 'versions'. |
violent: How is this even remotely possible? Won't they get electrocuted if they lived above their mains?Lol |
Intellectual property/brain child monopolises the market, and this is bad for the economy, but if it is annihilated, what then happens to innovation? Individuals wouldnt want to innovate any longer, they would prefer the imitation route which will also affect the economy. It is necessary to consider that. But since A.J has said we dont need innovations right now, that means we have to neglect the adverse effect (of not innovating) and go the imitation route. |
adesteve: I work with one of the International banks in Nigeria that starts with 'S' but i have been on the same grade (Senior Officer) for the past 3 years and i am poorly paid in relative terms. In view of current appraisals and 'goal-posts', salary increase is not guaranteed for now and not happy about our system and processes. You can say that i am dissatisfied! Just heard that Mainstreet Bank (formerly AfriBank), one of the nationalized banks, is recruiting experienced staff and i am being persuaded to apply. What do you think, my senior colleagues? Should i go and negotiate for the next two levels in MainStreet? Is the risk worth taking? Please, i need your sincere and frank advice. From a layman's view; sequel to the recent loss of jobs(including experienced employees), esp. in these nationalized banks, i think you should put into consideration job security and dont forget that patience is the key. Btw, arent those nationalized banks to be sold off soon? (an assumption mind you) and that can be dangerous. |
. |
ishmael: With money all things are possible. But truely u need to gather some experience before venturing into such. Please expantiate. |
AjanleKoko: All na negotiation plus risk.Seriously, all these requires a whole lot of human resources management knowledge, and i dont even think an employer will want to employ best of judgement (use of discretion) method for stuffs like this. Btw, i salute una entreprenuers o, not quite an easy task to manage all the Ms of production at the same time, especially with the unstable and unpredictable behaviour of one of the Ms (Man). |
Shock: a few questions for your sugarMadam, fun all the way for T22. |
AjanleKoko: It's not exactly empirical. Some industries, such as the financial sector, FMCG, telecom, oil and gas, have extensive processes for benchmarking pay. They look at average salaries in their industries, global trends, local cost of living, cost of experience, demand, and a few other factors.Obviously, from the highlighted, it is only an indispensable employee that can zap almost 20-30% of the total revenue of a coy, but, how do one know whether the person about to be employed will be indispensable?, at least one wouldnt want to pay that large amount to the person without accessing his capabilities through workdone over a certain period, now, wont the unattractive and meagre salary offered at the onset drive him away (not forgetting that he is going to be an indispensable employee soon)? If an employer is in that situation, what is the way out? |
tanimola22: House rent (2-bedroom or 1 bedroom): 20K (max) on the mainlandHmmmmmm!! It is good to be an (a senior) analyst. Always coming out with something interesting. (esp. the highlighted). Btw, hope you are enjoying your (short) stay in naija? E maa gbadun. |
^^^ bros, bom don zap me na. Last week bahd. So i decided to lay low and learn first before i resume back. |
Desola: Citing the civil war is an insult to the Biafrans. Eleriibu.Hahahahaha, stop this now. @op, seriously, that man is spewing thrash and rubbish, endangering the lives of those poor, innocent souls while their own spoilt children (foreign graduates) through influence are posted to lagos ph and abuja. Thunder fire their yansh. |
musulumi: 1.what could have possibly been the error committed if a debtor's balance is having a credit balance?- Wrong posting of cash sales transaction, like, instead of posting the corresponding transaction of cash sales(not credit sales) to the cash account, it is posted into the debtors account. Illustration: Cash sales (sales with immediate payment by the buyer) Wrong Credit sales a/c and debit debtors a/c Right Credit sales a/c and debit cash a/c. Basically, it is wrong entry of transactions that affects the balances on a/cs. -FIRS |
nedu213: I'm considering sewing ankara (native wear) for occasions like weddings or church services etc. I really want to know if I can sew for my girlfriend with same fabric material cos she usually accompany to such events or is it meant for married couples onlu to dress in same fabric material?U funny sha, when una never marry, oga o. |
AjanleKoko: Still waiting for someone to outline the exact realities of living abroadFor real, i just went through the pages of the thread and few or non of those realities has been mentioned, just the experience vs masters degree posts filled the whole thread. Abeg, tell us these realities joor, so that those planning to move to the other side will know now what they will face. |
ishmael: You can also be self employed. Equip urself with computing and statistical skills and start a small consulting firm. Regards. Is it okay/possible for a recent graduate(first degree) without experience to start a firm? P.S. Pardon my ignorance, if it is? |
ayox2003: Imitation is not bad. Having said that, imitation without jara is bad. Lets assume Nokia imitated Samsung without adding features to entice people, and Chinese phones also imitated Nokia without adding the "TV" to it. Then the imitation is futile. Infact nobody would buy both products (Nokia and Chinko). But imitation in a bid to improve on whats already done is always a welcome development.Nice one bros, esp. the highlighted. |
Going by the past and present, basically, in terms of people's careers and company's products, i think there has been a lot of success (perhaps not outstanding) in trying to imitate others, like the famous techno products and other chinese products (mostly tech and household/domestic ones) making waves in the targeted markets, although it is quite obvious that they imitated nokia and other giant firms/companies, but they have succeeded in not only having large market shares in under-developed countries but also developing countries. Also, careerwise, some individuals are making it by imitation, while young and inexperienced guys look up to achieved guys, always wanting to be like them, we also have upcoming artists acting like and imitating established artists, and it is evident that there has always been an achievement of purpose. But with all these, there has still been inferences made in Africa esp. in Nigeria that imitation is not good, this is evident in the attitude of people to products of it, especially when it is an indigene that is trying to come out with something tangible through imitation. Please why is it that some still regard imitation as something inappropriate and also since imitation has been part of labelled strategies to develop a nation technologically and in other aspects too, then why the discouragement? |
^^^ Uniabuja ![]() |
Hmmmmmm! Work experience or further study? A lot of experienced guys here had and will always stress it that 'it is the experience first'. Seriously, i had a different opinion about work experience, i'd thought masters is the best option after first degree, but now it is clear that work experience is quite paramount. |
johnsonadex: pls, hw did u gradu8 4rm polytechnic? I asked four questions & u conviniently answer one, is dat a pass mark? Also, i only asked u to mention one rector and u did, is there any problem wit dat question? Why are u talking as if u're fighting wit everybody dat expresses their opinion just because its nt in line wit ur opinion? Must everybody agree wit u dat poly is beta than uni? Also, where did Dr Philipa obtained her PGD, MSc, and Phd.? Am sure nt in polytechnic.I wonder o. |
ishmael: I would not say they are frustrated. But most people who go for ANAN were actually doing ICAN before and could n't pass. Check very well, they are mostly university accounting graduates who occupy managerial positions in the civil service, because the private sector does not ask for ANAN certification or certificate. And your assertion is backed up with facts or just 'dem say'?? i have learnt to stop making inferences when there are no facts to back them up, note that fact is always preceded by collection, organisation, analysis and presentation of datas. So, maybe you should take to that too and stop ranting. Btw, i consider all as your views since there havent been facts to back them up. P.S. No offence meant. |
@luvola, hw far nw? I dey block C, room 4, can we meet? |
Hnd vs b.sc, there is a difference between both, although it is the system that caused the discrimination but as long as the system is not changed, then no choice for the diploma guys. I am also partially disputing the fact that wider syllabus is covered in polys, it is the same. |
