NYSC › Re: 2012 NYSC Batch B(june) Aspirants Meet Here. by nitrogen(m): 12:38pm On Jun 03, 2012
@9-zeros, we have some over-rated federal universities in nigeria, and all they can do is to dash out at least 50 firsties in a year, such are not targeted at state unis, that's why invariably, a state uni 2.1 is almost equivalent to a fed uni firstie while a 4.5 cgpa firstie in a state uni is a 4.9 cgpa firstie in a fed. Gbabeeee!!

P.s dont quote me wrong o, 'not all'.

FOR NITROGEN HMM NA ANODA STORY BUT C DIS HIS POST

nitrogen: 5/5 Sounds crazy. T'will be tough to get that. Btw, all theses schools that gives out first class anyhow, like MAULAG(unilag), uniben, unilorin, and other federal unis, they do this maybe because they've been in existence for long or what ? I can tell you that a 2.1 gotten from some state universities in nigeria is almost like a firstie in most federal universities. It is always hard to get a first class in these state unis because of the presence of saddist lecturers, the late emergence of these schools (early nineties) and some other reasons. No offence meant.

MIND U HE SED ''No offence meant''

tanimola22: This is not a lie, but you will be shocked to hear the tales of some of these people.

By the way, try to apply for standard chartered bank's international graduate program next year. International graduate does not mean someone with a foreign degree; it means someone that will be trained to work at any of the bank's branches in Asia, Europe, Middle East.

The pay is around 4k dollars/month. This is not bad.

T22.
Tales because they live extravagant and credit life, no saving but large spending habits.

Btw, thanks for the standard chartered info.
Wow IB is one of the most competitive fields to break into. My roommate graduated with me last year in a well ranked university. He was one of two first class students in his banking and finance class. Young boy. It's been a year and he's a level 2 CFA candidate with a masters from the London School of Economics. Now, we talk regularly and all we do is lament about how difficult it is to break into the sector, especially in the City where he is, and even here in Africa. You'll find it extrememly difficult outside Nigeria. Down here though, everything is possible, but your case is peculiar because of the age factor. You'll be in the market with people like Ola (the mba vs msc guy up in this forum), and maybe even me smiley. Of course, you can always beat the competition here with enough determination, knowledge (CFA), experience and connections. Note that the CFA will take at least 3 years. My advice will be to enter into a firm that offers a bouquet of services, including IB. How you'll do that is what I don't know, and you'll need the more experienced guys here to spell out your chances. Work your way into any department. In time, you can find yourself having coffee with the overpaid, suicidal IB boys. Difficult, but possible. Cheers
Lol at the bolded

tanimola22: Hahaha 4K/month. You think so? That is almost what new international graduates earn at standard chartered naija, and many of them cannot claim to be big boys/girls. They are just okay.

By the way, what are the axioms that constitute a big boy/girl? We need to start from here.

T22
Bros, 4k dols is about 600k o, no be small money o, it should be okay for a young and fresh boy that has little or no responsibility nw

Btw, i think when you dont spend all but half of your salary per month, and you are okay, mind you, the basics are there like a mansion, an expensive car, and good wears, you are a big boy.
I want to state here that there is hope for you even if you read yoruba language..Companies and multinationals these days are not really after what you studied in school, cos employees are usually trained after recruitment ..The most important thing is to graduate with a good result, maybe a first class or 2.1(or maybe a 2.2 also) and be determined..Send applications to all sector, do not limit applications to ur field alone..And also, equip yourself with professional qualifications and Msc as soon as you can...I studied Mathematics/Economics, and I presently work with one of the best Parastatals in Nigeria, even tho people discouraged me while in school that I will end up as a school teacher...The Sky is the Limit for us all my friends....
Hehehe, quite funny, even with the number of 'high caliber' oppurtunities that can be accessed
Entertainment › Re: Tiwa Savage WAS A Great Prospect, Until She Joined MAVIN. Backward Step. by nitrogen(m): 8:03am On Jun 01, 2012
djustice: I've never seen anyone make as obviously self destructive a move as the one made by Tiwa Savage in choosing to join Don Jazzy in his ill-thought out MAVIN records adventure. She was doing quite well, creatively speaking, on her own, and if she had any sense, she would have waited to let the dust settle before choosing who to go with between the obviously more business-savvy D'Banj and the more creative Don Jazzy.

Already an acknowledged song-writing talent, all she needed was to get a good platform to market herself as an act in her own right, INTERNATIONALLY. Of the entire MAVIN crew, she's the one most likely, based solely on her prodigious talent, to break the international market. Don Jazzy obviously doesn't have the balls to play global, and the rushed "Solar Plexus" album demonstrates how appalling he actually can be in the absence of the kind of exacting standards a badly under-rated D'Banj obviously brought to his game.

With D'Banj now having signed Davido, and having access to the excellent facilities of G.O.O.D. Music and Def Jam, it's not too late for Tiwa to cross over. I reckon the smart D'Banj will soon make a play for JJC (Abdul Bello), who's a SUPER TALENTED producer and international player too. If he could pull that off, the sky would be the limit for his Def Jam Africa label. JJC is already a big brand in Africa, having mentored artistes from all over the continent, including North Africa!!

Tiwa, Tiwa, Tiwa omo Savage!!! How many times did I call your namehuh Retrace your steps from those clueless amateurs before they ruin your promising career for you o!! It's not too late. I promise!
Its too early to infer this.
