I think you should use the last 3 months statement of account instead of 6. Then explain in your LOE that the reason for doing that is that the document was too large but you are ready to send the rest to them if deemed necessary.

Just my opinion sha...I also had too many documents so that's what I did. My app is not yet approved

Hopesprings:
Good morning all. I could really use some help/advise if anyone as some suggestions. I am at the verge of submitting my application with just one issue and I would really like to close this out today and finally get this off my plate after one elapsed ITA and week away from the deadline for this one.

My financial documents are larger than the 4MB limit and I have tried the different online compressors and none seem to do the trick. At this point, I'm now looking at maybe downsizing the number of documents I have in the file.

My POF is a Mutual Fund I opened about 3 weeks ago. I included the letter/statement from the bank for the mutual fund, my 6 months bank statements (both current and savings) as well as that of my spouse to show the source of funds and a reference letter from my bank. Is there anything I can remove from here? Do you have any other suggestions on how to shrink the file?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Culled from CIC website

Hope this helps

OK, I got it on the additional 3pts from CLB9 or higher from EE. But I don't still follow on the 6pts per ability on cbl9 or higher across the board.

ontarioissauga:

I thought maximum including bonus is 42 pts, but I when TCF or TEF is the PA second language test and English test has band 7 or above across the board.
Cc njbybrthnly

Please refer to @DanMisla's post below for points awarded per CLB level. He had CLB 9 in expression ecrite, hence the additional 3 points to the 42 we're used to

DanMisla:
CLB 5 or 6 - 1 point per ability
CLB 7 or 8 - 3 points per ability
CLB 9 or 10 - 6 points per ability

The exams are not delivered by the same organisation.

TEF is handled by lefrancaisedesaffaires while TCF is handled by CIEP.

I don't know but it may be safe to assume the result for TCF will be out on time. If not, consider it a 'French thing'.

Let's also hope they'll buckle up now that they have some competition.

princesschuks:

Waaawu. I guess this means the 15 days stated for TCF is not sure.

Honestly, it was a serious lesson in patience. I just started arranging other documents for the application in order to pass the time.

DanMisla:
@njbybrthnly
I had to go reconfirm that it took you 21 days to get the attestation, after the results came out.
This...isn't sth I understand, esp when compared to IELTS!
I'm relearning patience, honestly.

'Prof' Bellerin and mariah have given great tips. I dey hail una o.
For listening, reading the questions while the instruction is playing is ideal, then you'll already know what to listen for when the recording starts. The Propulse Training channel on YouTube also has some tips that may be helpful for listening even if it's just for more practice questions. Here are some examples:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtCxYHw31KE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwFWZVMlMPg

For writing, me I can't recommend the prepmyfuture app enough o but if you have the time to attend the AF classes, please grab the opportunity

I'm no wiz kid o... cheesy

Mamaroon:
NJ, Bellerin, Mariah, Etrange, everyone....

I've been re-reading the posts but pls permit me to ask. .....any other tips for listening?.....seems to be a sticking point for me. I know listening to radio, watch movies etc. ...but any particular TEF strategy? I often get lost reading the questions and trying to listen to audio at the same time. Should we just be concentrating on the audio and face the questions in the few seconds that we have after?

Also on writing. ...I'm convinced there is a style and content that examiners are looking for that AF is able to pass across to their students.... unless you are a wiz kid like NJ wink it may help to attend AF classes ..I say this cos I notice on the results list that even people who got A1 A2 B1 in other areas cleared their writing......in fact someone got over 400 shocked so pls make time to attend if possible ....Bellerin and someone else mentioned the use of subjontif as well....I'm not selling market for AF but I noticed this and through the other mention it.

Meanwhile. ..I think I may port from Team Feb and calm down and join March peeps jejely.

Wow Mamaroon! I was so looking forward to your result. All the same, it is well. You already have the right attitude.

If extra money dey, the prepmyfuture app is also useful for writing. Wishing you the best. You'll write this exam for the last time in February by God's Grace

Mamaroon:
So...... trying to regroup after TEF.... undecided

Apparently AF offers refresher classes on Saturdays......9 am to 1pm for 5 Saturdays before the TEF EXAM...not as hectic as I thought. .... I wish I had this info before

This may help someone who feels they need assistance in the run up to the exam

But you obviously now know the areas you need to focus more on so keep at it. Success is sure!

I don't believe it's you asking this question shocked shocked grin...with all your plenty C1 (any interview should be a walkover for you na). I put both...I'm guessing the test results are sufficient authentication just like IELTS is for English. If not, post-secondary education in English should have been enough proof.

Just my opinion though.

etrange:
Guys, I have a question.

What did you choose for language while creating your profile? Only English or Both? Does it have anything to do with one's TEF result? If not, how would CIC actually authenticate this claim?

Me, I don't want to be called for any interview, biko.
Travel / Re: All TEF Candidates For Canada Immigration, Let's Meet Here! by njbybrthnly: 6:03pm On Dec 30, 2018
Kudos to you for the effort you are already putting in. Don't relent.

To add to other suggestions, try to replay the French audio several times (may sound boring but it helps)....the more you listen you'll start to recognize familiar vocabulary.

If there are transcripts ensure you read and understand them and then listen to the file again. Don't be discouraged you're on the right track. A private tutor is great...just ensure you cover the requirements of the exam

Chicagomum:
Really. Why cant a private tutor help? My tutor studied French and has been teaching for sometime.

Now i am confused o....

I opted for the private tutor option cos of my work schedule.

What else can I do to improve my chances?

Bhussola:
Quick question pls, reading through your post about your Tef journey, did you have prior knowledge of french before your 6 months prep?

I had secondary school French prior to the 6 months prep. For your prep, I suggest you start with building your vocabulary and working on grammar, while listening to French audio at the same time (I think the listening part is the most important). It's very possible to develop a solid A1 within your timeline...you only need to put in a lot of work.

Let me also add this: don't be afraid of reading in French, I've found that a few people I've chatted with get discouraged when they study books written solely in french. To overcome this, all you need is a French dictionary (paper or online) - I prefer paper dictionaries (not pocket dictionaries o - they are too limited)and the online Collins dictionary because they give other possible translations of a word or phrase with examples. Google translate is ok but it gets unreliable when you want to translate longer phrases - I will only recommend it to more advanced learners who can identify the incorrect translations.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask for more clarification if anything is still unclear.

Bhussola:
this is a very great idea and I understand where you're coming from with your explanations. However, you would be amazed at your competence with the language once you begin to tutor; speaking to those that have written the exams that is (everyone of your results have been amazing). Your wealth of knowledge will go a long way in pushing us the newbies past the awkward beginning.

For instance, I have all of the resources shared on this platform but have been struggling to study on my own not knowing where to start or pattern to follow. I have more than enough time on my hands right now and would appreciate a guide on attaining a solid A1 before mid January assuming it's possible (before I dash AF all my money).
