operation wetie was between two men of the same tribal group,so that doesn't say, ezeagwu should go and murder other tribe in govt.
Had it been the murdered politicians were Igbo extraction, their wouldn't be tension built-up all over the country then.

That was the genesis of hatred.
How could it be about two men? It was a constitutional crisis. Thousands of people were burnt alive, houses too being burnt down. There was a breakdown of law and order and the FG had to send in soldiers like it is doing in Boko Haram areas today.

The FG of that time was colluding with the soldiers to oppress you people and rigged elections in the Western Region in favour of Akintola who was their man. There was tension in the country and people began to cry for intervention. That led men like Nzeogwu and Ademoyega to start planning the coup.

Murtala and Taiwo, the buthers of Asaba. Karma paid both men back almost 10 years later when Dimka promptly dispatched both men on the same day to Hell where they belong
They reaped what they sowed. Their own man gunned them down when they thought they were safe

Thank you so much.

They were the architect of Nigeria's problems, that was when hatred started in this country.
Western Nigeria was in a state of civil war. Awo vs Akintola war (operation wetie) is the genesis of Nigeria's first coup

General Oladipo Diya who was then a young officer, nearly lost his life in one of those failed attempts to cross the River Niger
shocked wow I never knew this. That means he might have served under Col Taiwo, Murtala's right hand man who physically supervised the massacre of asaba civilians. I will research this some more

The story about how the bridge was blown up is captured in Colonel Achuzia's book 'Requiem Biafra'. Achuzia was in Asaba, his home town, fighting when Federal troops overran the town. Achuzia then ordered his men to withdraw across the bridge to Onitisha. By the time Achuzia himself and his orderly got to the Asaba end of the bridge that night, some Nigerian soldiers were already there. He got out his car, threw some cam of beer down the road to distract the Soldiers, then jogged with his orderly down to the Onitsha end of the bridge where he met some Biafran engineers already lacing the bridge with bombs.

The next morning, Achuzia received orders from Brigadier Nwawo to lead the operations to blow up the bridge because Nigerian Soldiers had amassed at the Asaba end and were preparing for a major invasion. Achuzia got to the Onitsha end of the bridge were he met Lt Colonel Nsudoh, a brave Ibibio officer who fought for Biafra. Nsudoh handed the detonator to Achuzia who promptly blew the bridge according to Achuzia, the explosion was so loud that it threw him and Nsudoh up the air and when both men landed, they could not hear each other talking.

The significance of blowing up the bridge was that Murtala Mohammed then tried to invade Onitsha across the River Niger 3 disastrous times and lost more than half his division to capable Biafran Soldiers on the Onitsha side. When Murtala finally crossed the River, Achuzia destroyed what was left left of his troops at Abagana which led to Murtala being recalled from the war by Gowon
After Achuzia blew the bridge, Murtala after consulting his babalawo, walked to the edge of the water brought out some charms and muttered something before throwing it into the water. He thought juju would help him successfully enter Igbo land but he was sorely disappointed and with each failed attempt his frustration made him keep sending his men to die in Onitsha.

Go and see how swiftly orkar Dimka and other plotters were dealt with, tell me if anyone of them was still joking around after 6 months

But these ibo soldiers killed a prime minister, 2 premiers, several military leaders who were not ibos and ironsi was still pussyfooting for 6 months
You have no point. You are just trying to hide your lack of facts. Read my last post to you slowly. Ironsi allowed the special branch headed by a fulani to do it's job and submitted its report. The northern soldiers who had been incited by propagandists like you were already planning their revenge.

You want to compare the naive Ironsi and the newly formed first Military government just few weeks old to IBB's five year old regime full of men with almost thirty years experience. IBB's government took four months to execute Orkar but you want to pass judgement on Ironsi in six months for choosing to play by the book?

How was he protecting the coup plotters when they were in jail awaiting prosecution. The special investigation team led by M.D. Yusuf (fulani) submitted its report to Hassan Katsina who did nothing with it. (he was already plotting the countercoup)

How did IronsI protect them? You have no facts

Ironsi foiled the coup, locked the coup plotters up, allowed the special investigative panel do it's job, before they could give their findings there was the counter-coup. But hatred for Igbo ppl still inspires all these lies about ironsi

ANSMEDIA:

History recorded that the brave Biafran soldiers led by General Achuzia, General Ikedife blew the bridge to shut out the invading Nigerian forces from entering the Biafran territory. This singular act of bravery made the Nigerian forces led by Murtala Muhammed to lose the battle at Niger bridge, this prompted the then Head of state, General Gowon to quickly redeploy General Murtala Muhammed.

Lalasticlala
Correction. There was no battle at Niger Bridge the battle was Onitsha waterside. Achuzia blew up the bridge to slow the advance of the Nigerian forces. Murtala then sent thousands of soldiers across to Onitsha where they started to loot and destroy like they had done in Asaba. Biafran soldiers rallied and totally massacred the Federal forces. Some managed to swim back to Asaba to tell what happened.

Murtala the butcher of asaba, high on drugs and overconfident after his babalawo assured him he would win, sent wave after wave of men in boats across to Onitsha but they were massacred also.

Which one be "high witness"? Lol

1 Awolowo used old man sense on Ojukwu then went to be carrying bag for gowon. He used Igbos to settle his quarrel with the FG

2. Awolowo/Gowon used policy of hunger as a weapon of was and millions of Igbo children starved to death

3. After the war Awolowo introduced indigenisation policy that favoured yorubas and paid £20 to Igbos whether or not the person had millions in the bank

PoliticsRe: Why Do Most Igbos Passionately Dislike Buhari? by nku5: 1:04pm On Apr 09, 2019
cyrilamx:
To most Igbo, Buhari personified the enemy - the one that killed their grandparents and parents. It insults their pride. The hatred is a civil revenge - the much accepted in a democracy. This is a man who served in the Civil war where millions of Igbo died - he was just a ready-made enemy. His history has condemned him.

Islamophobia is prevalent in the South-eastern part of Nigeria so when a Muslim came into power dislodging a Christian is seems like Christ was crucified again but this time by the Fulanis. It is not just a Muslim, a Muslim that the Jonathan camp has labeled a Boko Haram sponsor and sympathizer.

This is such nonsense. Though these lies and propaganda have been rubbished over and over again I will just for sake of the young and impressionable do it again grin

1. Buhari was a very average soldier. He failed every exam he took in the army but rose because he is a fulani. In the civil war the exploits of northerners like IBB, Shuwa and Shelleng are well known. In the history books they are well documented but in NO book anywhere is Buhari mentioned. He was an unknown mediocre

How can Igbos hate a nobody in the war but not hate an IBB? Use your sense OP

2. Igbos don't have islamophobia otherwise we wouldn't have loved Yar Adua like we did. He was a gentleman and a man with with conscience regardless of tribe or religion

Igbos never liked Buhari because he is a failure, a wicked man, racist and a bloody illiterate who doesn't know that 97% + 5% = 102% grin grin

If this silly article is somehow tied to Osinbajo and 2023 you guys have already failed

I wish I could like this twice

selemempe:
my take on this yoruba vs igbo issue is simple...its all about jealousy. The yorubas are obsessed with igbos and jealous of them. Yes yorubas are jealous of igbos not necessarily because igbos are doing better than yorub as (igbos are not), but because they dont even want any form of igbo progress.

its not the whole of yorubas. No! but yorubas who align with Tinubu and APC. They are afraid that if igbos are not subjugated by hausa and other tribes, the tinubu camp would lose relevance. There is a reason why tinubu and his allies are not afraid to openly show igbo hate, they know that the scores of 2015 elections support it and that pro buhari people will buy it. so they want it to be the politics leading into 2023.

now let me ask...the last presidential election was APC 580,825 and PDP 448,015 in lagos. while in abia APC got 85,058 and PDP got 219,698. my question is are there more igbos in lagos than in abia? because from abia state scores we can see that the combined score of apc and pdp is not even up to what pdp alone got in lagos. this shows that igbos are not the real threat of apc in lagos...but many minorities including hausa and niger deltans. but tinubu is picking on igbos because he wants to ride to power in 2023 thru anti igbo sentiments.

i can tell u that of the 450k votes pdp got in lagos that igbos probably only gave around 150k of it...but thats not the real politics...the real politics is hitler's politics who rode to power thru anti-jewish campaign. Tinubu expects to rise to power thru anti-igbo campaign
