Chairman of the community’s vigilante team, Mr Olise Igbede, who spoke on the incident, said that some indigenes were at the bank of a river at Adonishaka Quarter of the community when 10 herdsmen accosted them about 6.30 p.m. Disclosing that eight of the herdsmen were armed with AK-47 guns and the other two with cutlasses, he said: “They were asking our boys if this is Ebedei community and demanded to know why we are against cattle grazing. “Our boys told them that they did not know what they were talking about and immediately, the herdsmen started beating them with their cutlasses and the boys raised alarm, which attracted other villagers. “Later, about 7.30 p.m., they started shooting and some of the people, mostly women, started running out of the community to neighbouring towns. Later, the vigilante mobilized and proceeded towards the river. When the herdsmen saw us coming, they ran away. Five minutes later, they started shooting again and we went to the river and removed the wooden bridge to prevent them from crossing over into the village. Presently, we are still watching the river to avoid any surprises,” he said. "Share" |

Kogi considering total ban on cattle grazing – Commissioner By Wale Odunsion April 13, 2017@dailypostngr https://cdn1.dailypost.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/yahaya-bello1-620x400.jpg Kogi State Government on Wednesday said it may enact laws that would ensure total ban on cattle grazing in the state. The government said it was considering the option due to unabated farmers-herdsmen conflicts. Kehinde Oloruntoba, Commissioner for Agriculture, spoke in Lokoja at an advocacy meeting with Small Scale Women Farmers Organisation of Nigeria (SWOFON). “All the same, if the measures fail, we will not hesitate go to the House of Assembly to get a law, prohibiting the activities of herdsmen in the state”, he said. “But that will be our last option. We may not need to go to that extreme of prohibiting the herdsmen’s activities if they all agree to live harmoniously with others and refrain from destroying farm crops”, he added. Oloruntoba said that the national executives of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association and some officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture recently visited the state to organise a sensitisation programme for herdsmen and farmers. The official observed noted that more women were engaged in agriculture than men. “If we want agriculture to succeed, we must ensure that women are given their rightful position in all our policies”, he said. He pledged that women farmers would not be marginalised in government’s agricultural programmes. http://dailypost.ng/2017/04/13/kogi-considering-total-ban-cattle-grazing-commissioner/ |

mykeljosef:God bless you my brother. The corruption we are witnessing under this present administration is the type that has not been witnessed. These guys now hide under the canopy of consultants to steal from the poor masses. In Benue State for instance, the govenor has hired a consultant for payment of workers salaries. Most workers are usually underpaid with a wide difference, payment slip is not issued so that you have no evidence to prove that you have not been short changed. A civil servant that earns about N150,000 will be underpaid by N70,000 to N100,000. But have no place to lay his/her complaints. The consultant only asks you to produce your Bank statement. But the Bank statement does not show details of your payment status and your balance shall never the paid. Workers are still owed despite the three different financial interventions from the President to enable the Gov clear all outstanding arrears. This change is a scam!!! |

Conte Provides Update On Fitness Of Super Eagles Star Victor Moses Chelsea coach Antonio Conte has provided an update on the fitness of Nigeria international Victor Moses ahead of the Premier League tie with Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon. The winger had to withdraw from the Nigeria squad during the international break because he had not sufficiently recovered from the calf injury he sustained against Manchester United. Though Conte did not mention names, reporters at Friday’s press conference were specific and asked him about the injury update on Costa, Courtois, Moses and Terry. Conte replied : “It is important to check two or three situations and then to make the best decisions. “This week wasn’t easy to work because some have come back with some problems and it is proper now to check and wait and decide tomorrow. “I have two or three situations.” Moses has started the last 22 games contested by Chelsea in the English top-flight, including the 2-1 win at Stoke City, where he had to play through the painbarrier. Cameroon Federation Expose Montreal Impact Defender For Lying He Was Abandoned In Brussels https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/7183Ambrose.jpg All is not well with the Cameroonian national team ahead of two crucial World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria. The players almost missed their lunch because their hotel bills were not paid for at the Parker Hotel before the friendly with Guinea, now, Montreal Impact defender Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo claimed he was abandoned in Brussels because his flight was not paid for. “I’m stuck because I do not have my ticket back. I’m here waiting, no one is giving mean answer,” Bitolo said to camfoot.com. “You give your heart, your soul, your life for your nation, but others do not recognize your worth. “But in any case, you will not discourage us. We were born in Cameroon, we grew up in Cameroon. We are not going to abandon our country.” The Cameroonian National Team Coordinator André Nguidjo has rubbished the claims of Bitolo, stating that the player was sent his round-trip plane ticket in advance, and wondered how he got to Brussels without his traveling document. A FECAFOOT source added that Bitolo decided to stay back in Brussels for one more day after the training camp, and unfortunately could not get a flight to Montreal on Wednesday evening. Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo started every single game for the Indomitable Lions at the 2017 African Cup of Nations. Igho Kingsley http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=22559 |

Mr. Lawal Daura, Director-General of the Directorate of State Security (DSS), Mr. Mamman Daura, the influential nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari, and Mr. Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Buhari, SaharaReporters can authoritatively report, have secretly begun working on a plan to have Mr. Ibrahim Magu, acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), redeployed back to the Nigeria Police Force. The moves being made by the three men, top Presidency sources told SaharaReporters, are independent of President Buhari, who is unwilling to replace Mr. Magu. The President is said to be unconvinced by the negative DSS report on Mr. Magu's integrity. However, the President's nephew the DSS boss and Mr. Kyari are said to be exploiting President Buhari's brittle health to replace Mr. Magu, who has obdurately resisted their attempts to teleguide him. “They are capitalizing on Buhari’s failing health to execute their project of getting Magu out because he has refused to be considering their advisory role in carrying out his job. “The DSS boss is behind all the reports against Magu. Behind him are Maman Daura and Abba Kyari. They have failed to convince President Buhari that Mr. Magu has integrity issues," said a top Presidency source. The failure to achieve their aim has made them approach the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Lawal K. Idris to recall Mr. Magu from the EFCC back to the Nigerian police force. Authoritative sources said the DSS is planning to author more damaging reports on Mr. Magu's reputation with a view to making his continued stay at EFCC untenable. “In the course of the drama, they will have their way because the trio wield a lot of influence,” said a source. http://saharareporters.com/2017/03/27/how-dss-boss-mamman-daura-kyari-plan-get-magu-redeployed-police |
