I no too pass like dat.. But from my uni experience, course weh be CBT have a 90% chance of turning out to be an A, and those paper-type, a B. (My experience so far)

CBT no dey do linking... Something like "from question number 17 above..."

CBT is easier than paper and pencil.

But again, students are smarter these days. With the technology explosion and all? Standard schools are also emerging... Competition is increasing. This is EVOLUTION on play here. If you are good in biology, you would know what happens when competition ensues.

Let me give them an example, Kogi state indigenes population in ABU and Kadpoly is second only to Kaduna state indigenes.

States with highest polulation in these 2 schools apart from Kaduna indigenes are Benue and Kogi which in my opinion take up to 30% of the school community including staff and students.

ABU is the most diversely populated university in Nigeria followed by Kadpoly. I had Nigeriens, Chadians and Cameroonians as classmates in Abu.

30 percent? Benue and Kogi 30 percent?? Oh God. Where did you get your statistics from?
Nawa oo. Kano nko? Katsina? I don't believe this.

hmmm,to my own understanding about genetics,i think d way ur lecturer presented his/her question is not correct.

In genetics,If a d father is affected, dat means d offspring dat will either b affected or b a carrier is d female and also if d mother is affected of a carrier,d offspring dat is likely to b affected is d male.

And so d question ur lecturer gave do not tally with wot dey begat or may der might b d error is either from u(typing error) or d lecturer.

Broo.... Not all heritable diseases are sex-linked. The lecturer dey alright.

I remember when my guy in Biochem 200lvl then saw my course form.. He advised me to quickly drop Phy122.... Apparently he had failed the course......
Fast forward to a few months.. Magnetic flux, Gaussian something, flux density, point charge and all of them became a nightmare. I started attending tutorials like mad.. Payed attention in class, went to group discussions.. I made conscious effort.. Or I thought I did.................. Exam came, mehnnnn.... I can't ever forget this particular question about Karat-gold! What in d world is Karat-gold?

Lass, lass I made a D mehn...

My mistake: I was in first year and I was not among the lucky few freshers who adapted to uni life on time... I was suppossed to develop a different strategy for a course as "somehow" as Phy122.
The course is not hard. Most people do not realize this until they are re-sitting.

Well no forming o. As for me I typically don't see any course as hard as they proclaimed to be in as much as I'm interested in it.

Wow.. You had this mindset right from 100 level?
Actually...... Some courses are just hard dear.. Naturally.
I remember Metabolism in biochem, after spending a long time explaining and their was no 'life' in the class, he looked up from his laptop and shocked me (or us). He said: "This course (Metabolism) is hard, that's the truth. And that's how it has always been".

But I'm not talking about those courses which are intrinsically tough... I'm asking about those ones that have become a nightmare because of sadist lecturers..

So which one do you think has higher chance between utme and ijmb ?? because am hoping to choose FUD too!!

Lol!!!
Pls what score/point must one reach in order to be considered for admission for utme and Ijmb respectively??
Am basically not from her catchment area!!
Specifically from OYO state!!!
Thanks in advance!!!!

There is no specific score to attain before you can get admitted for medicine in ABU, except of course the university general cut-off, which has been 180 over the years..

What I mean is.. You can see someone with 250 being admitted into dept of medicine while you, with 300, is seething over not being considered.. Reason was because that person is from ABU's catchment area or probably an ELDS.

OYO is not an ELDS, neither is it a catchment, therefore your chance is on merit. And I doubt ABU will consider more than two persons from her non-catchment area and 'non-ELDS' for medicine. You would be competing for just one slot or sometimes, two from your fellow state people.....

Just be the highest from OYO, then you can prepare for resumption.... Congrats in advance.

As for IJMB, the modality for admission is still an enigma. I have a classmate from Kogi who had maximum points but was not considered for medicine. He was offered something else. Some of his mates with less glamorous points like 14, were considered.....
Goodluck bro. You will make it

Fear con dey catch me.
Somebody tried to ask a question later on during the lecture.. He calmly removed his glasses and lowered the ancient note he was 'reading from' and said.. "You think I'm here to SPOON-FEED you?, let me tell you something, go and ask your predecessors about me, you people have always failed, and you will fail......"
I was in 100 lvl mehn..... I was like "is this what university is all about?" because of fear I stopped going to his classes and stopped reading his course. I told myself that there was no way I could understand *adiabiatic change,* *isochoric...*

Sitting two seats from the first seat at MC13, I waited for the almighty Zack131. That was supposed to be my first class of the course. It's actually PHY131 but because of the heavy-handedness of the lecturer, the course was renamed to his name... Lol. His name was Zakari.
He finally entered and as expected, started shouting... "Who pushed that chair? Who!".

Education / Re: Lecturers Who Are Not Doctors ‘should No Longer’ Teach Medical Students by NnaemekaJude(m): 9:25pm On Dec 27, 2018
Last year we invited Prof. A.B.O of Babcock university to be our guest speaker for our Anatomy week. It was wonderful. When this same issue was raised, I can still recall some of his answer, not verbatim though. He said there is no point dissolving non-medically qualified anatomists from teaching medical students, reason being that they had had years of experience in anatomy and had researched and written many papers in the field... He even went on to say that 'non-medically qualified anatomist know the anatomy more than the medically qualified ones'. He said "Mediically qualified anatomist" refer to people who had M.B.B.S before continuing in the field of anatomy. I don't quite agree with him, he overgeneralized.
He studied medicine before turning into a full anatomist. He said the man that took him anatomy during his preclinical years at Yale was one of the best he had ever seen. He is one of the first three anatomists in the country.. My question is, if he, who had M.B.B.S could say this, and the Yale university that allowed a non-medically qualified anatomist to teach medics could allow it, why not us?

Though, personally, I loved my lecturers especially those who have MBBS degrees. The way they teach with clinical correlation makes you feel like a doctor and makes you remember stuff! But again there are others who had BSc's and PhD's in the basic sciences who were just about as good! (The likes of Prof. Abdulsallam Magaji).I personally don't care who teaches as long as you are qualified.
SHALOM.

True, but the system will not check itself, the steps to check it must begin from here..Us.

For now that motion regarding who/who isn't qualified to teach medical students does not hold water and does not seem like what will hold water, anytime soon.

True. The change begins with us.. Our attitudes towards the course...

henriettttta:

I just entered 200 level and seriously people are making me feel very discouraged about the course

Wow.. Okay..
It's normal.. The day I first told someone that I was in Anatomy was the day I started hating anatomy...and the day I started failing.
He started by asking; "Hey, where will u work?"
I could not give an answer because I was a fresher. I didn't put in my best in 100lvl. Though my grades were quite respectable. Fast forward to 200lvl, we started Gross, excitable tissues and the likes.. I started losing interest, things began getting complicated.. Mind you, I loved anatomy classes but hated being a BSc..
It's not just me... A lot of my friends.. You'd see someone with a 4.30 CGPA plummeting down to 3.50 because of the title "Anatomy student".
The faculty saw the embarrassing performance and deemed it fit to organize an orientation..
It was there I started loving anatomy.....

Anatomy is a branch of medicine.. You could further in medicine later if you so wish. You could probe interesting fields such as biomedical engineering, genetics, embryology (you could come up with a solution to some congenital anomalies!), mortuary science... A lot of fields!!
The lecturer ended up by saying... "You could rewrite UTME, but your hands must not grow cold on Human anatomy.."

The harsh reality is that, some dudes might not actually end up in MBBS within the four years of Human anatomy while already failing out, or with truck loads of carry overs and frustration..

Try to define your goals. What do you want? In Anatomy, if you listened to people's comment about the department, frustration is not far off...

Do you know of an Ohaduga in your class? Tell her I'm greeting....
