And the tokunbo thermostats have served you well??
lyort: I don't buy them new, i mostly buy from the engine sellers, they take out the thermostat from engines that their thermostat housing is broken. But for Toyotas Ghanaman is the sure plug. I lost his contact a while ago but I can get it to you soon
Can you help with the contact of a trusted seller, i need thermostat for honda civic 2005
lyort: Sometimes these acts stem out of ignorance and for some long term misinformation. I was buying a thermostat at a well know shop at ladipo and this mid-aged mechanic man kept staring at me in shock and I knew in his mind he was like "how can someone be buying what we perpetually remove to prevent damage". So he took the boldness to ask why I was buying the thermostat to install in my car(didn't know I'm a technician cos I don't dress like one each time I go to the market) So I took my time to explain to him what it does, it advantages and how it's absence greatly affect both fuel and lubrication efficiency. It was like veil removed from his eyes the way he payed attention to everything I said. I hope he becomes the doer of the gospel I preached to him.
Exactly. What allow engines to last longer is bad market for engine sellers and mechanics...their beef with thermostats is as clear as day. They want you to wreck your engine and quickly come back for replacement. So they wage war on the use of 5w30, on the use of thermostat, use of antifreeze/coolant. Even the cooling fans are not spared; they bypass them and put them on permanent n continuous operation. So in less than few years after importing the car, the buyer must replace something...yes they make sure of that.
lyort: Because our mechanics discourage the use of thermostats in our engines using temperate weather and overheating as excuse hence the importers don't see a need to stock their shelves with the product. I've encountered a thermostats in the jack and accessory compartment in the trunk of a lot of cars I've worked on and when I asked the owners why they were removed, their answers are usually the same- after an overheating or to prevent overheating.
Pls can somebody tell me why brand new oem thermostats aren't easily accessible for direct purchase in nigeria like walking into a shop and buying it sharply
Adeoluyetunde: Most times I have issues with my clutch either the upper one or the lower one. I use Mazda 626 millennium boot....what can I do so that such problem won't keep recurring? Thanks
Hello sir, pls help me with an answer. After an engine is ringed, what conditions will make the car smoke right the following morning. My brother changed valve oil seals & piston rings of his 2000 Mazda 626 1.8L engine because it would smoke [blue smoke] heavily on startup in the morning or after parking for long, also smokes on heavy acceleration or climbing hills, so mecho finished the work yesterday, he brought home the car yesterday and this morning when he started the engine, thick whitish smoke evolved which cleared off within 1mins. He called the mecho about it and was told the smoke was as a result of oil residues in the silencer, is he right?
surgevessel: Do not let mechanic open office for your head. Your car engine is 1ZZ, the original set of ring is not more than 15k which mostly do not come with packing-rings, a set of packing rings is 1k, get gum, preferably arsh color type, your gasket is 1500 naira, get Mobil Quatz oil for 8500 (4 litres) buy him 20 litres of fuel for washing and steaming as the car will have to steam for about an hour after coupling to align moving parts and proper adjustment.
If everything in your engine is still standard, I will advice you adopt a service of a good mechanic and get original parts yourself.
The truth is, Toyota engines are not designed to die just like that, original parts, adequate maintenance and experience mechanic is the key.
The crown shaft of that your engine alone is around 80k, mechanic might want to trikishly talk you into getting another engine knowing that 80% of your engine content are still in perfect State.
All they do is split your engine into top and bottom and sell it as skeleton for huge amount of money.
The main engine is the engine block, the crown shaft and it's metal then rings and piston.
Mostly when the rings are bad and the car start smoking, it doesn't amount to damaged engine, it simply equate to weak rings. Original rings with good mechanic can give you about 2 years of great engine performance.
I used to have a thermocool Gen & it served well. Now I'm using an original firman of higher capacity and also serving well, at the end of the day, it's all about the maintenance of the engine...
Thekingofsales: Please I want to get a generator. I'm considering Firman and Thermocool. Which is better?
ogunlowoluseun: Thanks a lot sir. I initially thought it was an extra. I got a battery person to fill it. He said to wait till tomorrow to start it.Recoil option is working.
With all due respect Sir, You and your cousin are both mad
