Iv been
It's an interview
Go with your reciepts and bank statement

I wrote them after 6 wks of silence then they invited me. I went with my heavy belle of 8 months, reciepts, burden of proof for baby no 2. The interview was short maybe 1 min he only looked at my bank statement, calculated if I was pregnant for the first baby when I got the visa.

That's all

All the best
Thanks alot @Favoredgal,will do as you've said.

Good day Everyone
@LadyG and other veterans, please help contribute to this scenario:
Had a B1/B2 visa that expired in May,was used for the purpose of childbirth and that was explicitly highlighted at the visa interview.
For renewal, sent via DHL using the Dropbox route and it's been 2 weeks now.
When I noticed I wasn't hearing from the embassy and my dashboard was not getting updated, I sent an email to Lagos NIV to find out the visa application status, and I was told to come pick it up at 11am on a Monday or Wednesday and i should bring the copy of email sent to me along.
Here's the question: Does this mean this is an invitation for interview?considering this was not a spontaneous request by the embassy but a reply to my inquiry.
Heard that those invited for interview are told to come for a 'chat' which was not included in the email I got.
Anyone who has been in this situation before should shed more light please.
Thanks.

Yeah, the fees are discounted. As for pediatrician fee,I don't have an exact figure. I think it's btw 300 - 350 $. I did as many tests as I could at clina lancet before I traveled. Ultrasound I hear is in 2 parts. I may have better info after my appointment on Monday
The hospital is in Virginia not Maryland though.
Epidural is billed separately,I don't know the cost but I could find out.
Thanks, will likely buzz you.

4600$ natural birth
6500$ CS
After discount

Doctors fee 2651(50% discount)
Congrats Momo13, please I'll like to know if the Doctor's fee you quoted is already discounted @50%? And also how much other bills like paediatrician, Epidural, Lab tests, ultrasound will cost.
Many thanks.

Please I need help on getting cheap flights from Dallas DFW to elpaso.

Your best bet will be through Southwest Airlines. They're however having issues with customers booking an itinerary outside North America. Your way round that is to call their 'Customer reservation' on +18004359792 and make your reservation.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Nochid:
Good day VO,
I'll like to clarify how long will one's K -1 visa will be valid for after issuance? Some people have said it's 6 months from the date of issuance;some others say it's valid for the time for which the medical report is valid for. Will appreciate you shed some light on this, thanks.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Nochid: 11:02am On Mar 20, 2015
VisaOfficer:
All immigrant visas expire on the day that the medical reports expire -- so, six months or a bit less.
Ok,thanks.

Morning VO,how long is a K -1 visa valid for after its been issued?
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Nochid: 11:34am On Mar 19, 2015
VisaOfficer:
I think they should use the visa first, then hold the ceremonies. That way there won't be any misunderstandings.
Thanks VO,I really appreciate. Will pass the message across.
TravelRe: U.S. Immigration Questions: Ask A U.S. Consular Officer by Nochid: 9:35am On Mar 19, 2015
VisaOfficer:
If the engagement ceremony is a traditional wedding, yes, it nullifies the visa. The visa is to be used by a person who is not married. It's not enough to be unmarried on the day the visa is issued; the person must still be unmarried when the visa is used to enter the United States.
Thanks VO for your response. I know the issue of traditional wedding has been trashed time and again here. The family of the would - be husband are looking at having a small ceremony say devoid of payment of bride price and the paraphernalia of a 'typical' traditional wedding ceremony, will this be accommodated?or they should just forget about the entire idea, thanks.

Good morning VO,and thank you very much for the great work you're doing here, howbeit pro bono.
I'm asking this question with respect to a brother who's fiance is a USC, and about filing for a fiance (K-1)visa. The question is that is it possible to do an engagement ceremony after obtaining the visa so that family members can be present, and then they go and have the white wedding in the States. And if that does not nullify the visa, thanks.

Anyone with Los Angeles Poe experience?
LAX is pretty straight forward if you declared your intentions at the embassy and have your supporting documents.
Was there in July, though was taken to secondary inspection, just waited for some minutes, after my visa interview transcript was brought up, I was stamped in for 6months.
I know some others who went through same POE without issues.

nefertitiram: Hi All,
I lost my babies, poor handling in ICU here in Nigeria, even at 7 months. Another reason why everybody needs to have their baby in the US! I pray no one experiences this kind of loss in Jesus Name,
I have managed to move on. Time to go back to the drawing board, sad loss after trying for a number of years.
I cannot question God.
I'm really sorry about your loss dear, God will give you beauty for ashes, and oil of gladness for mourning. God knows best isn't a cliché, He really does. Neonatology is a specialty still frought with many challenges here in Nigeria. God be with you and the rest of the family.

The information on this thread has gone a long way to help alot of us. There are as many people who have heard about MIHS and El paso as silent readers and many more by words of mouth without having checked into nairaland at any time.
As for MIHS, they had a massive influx of preggies during the Summer, in the month of July alone, they were delivering as many as 20 babies per day(not exaggerating); such that normal delivery moms were discharged before its 48hrs post delivery and CS patients delivered at about the 3rd day, to make room for those just giving birth.
Sometime towards the end of last month, one naija preggy went to register for the package, and the financial Counsellor told her they had a meeting about women coming to deliver all the way from Nigeria, and they were wondering if it's some kind of 'Refugees Program'. She however did well to educate them that it's individuals that are sponsoring themselves. The question of the possibility of a package review didn't come up, but it's obvious they have noted the naija influx. I wasn't really surprised when it was said that the package is being reviewed.
Arizona is also very close to the Mexican border, hence, we have alot of Mexicans too without insurance using the package, and those ones too can like to born!
Let's hope whatever it is the review will turn out to be, it'll still be affordable for those that intend to use them, and I'm sure they also will not want to lose the clientele from this end.

erico2k2: U got to be resident of the UK to do that
I think your best bet will be to do a quick trip to ATL or DC, and then get your baby's nigerian passport the same day. The down side of this arrangement will just be that it'll cost you money; don't have an idea how the UK arrangement works.

aykanbi: @nochid Thanks a lot. So if I fly at 36wks and I am able to get a doctor at 37 weeks then I'm still in the safe zone. Do you advise that I go ahead a d get a place to stay since I've made d decision to birth there. I'm flying early November tho, for anyone who's in the same ship? May I get suggestions on affordable extended stays with close proximity to the hospital. Thanks
Well, I'll say 36weeks is a bit far gone, but if you've booked your flight, just keep telling the baby to hang in there till you get to the US.
If you've made up your mind to use MIHS, you can as well book for accommodation, popular around here is Crossland Economy Studios, then Extended Stay on East Oak, then I know a few people stay in Zazzu pannee.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by Nochid: 11:07pm On Aug 25, 2014
beginningathome: Are you saying they require you to pay everything upfront without even making an appointment with you first? That's not right. How much of their fee do they require? And is any of it refundable if you choose not to use them? If so, that's really sad. Sorry. Just had to add my 2 cents.
beginningathome: It could take a little while to get your birth certificate. Sometimes 4 weeks, sometimes 8 weeks. Expect about that long. It's not really possible to hurry along the birth certificates, they kinda work on their own time frame.
If you have not taken your time to read this thread from the very beginning, I'll advise that you do that before you start jumping into the middle of conversations.
MIHS has a package that covers uncomplicated delivery for $2888. You can go through what's contained in that package on their website, if you're paying all your bills upfront then you pay just that and hope there won't be complication. If you decide to do a down payment and then pay up within 90 days of ur delivery, then your bill will be $3850, so it's entirely up to you.
As for the birth certificate, I beg to disagree with you, once you deliver, the hospital records department comes to take the information of your baby and send same to vital records. In another 5-7days the birth certificate of your baby is ready for pick up there. As a matter of fact upon discharge from the hospital you're given addresses of vital record offices where you can walk into any and pick up the birth certificate for $20 or so.
And with that you can start processing the passport which takes about 1-2weeks max.
Some people on this thread have gotten all their baby's paper work in 2 weeks, @Uchetobi is an example.

aykanbi: @nefertitiram. Pls I called Mihs today. After being on the line for like 10 minutes, a lady picked and told me a mail will be sent to me confirming my appointment with financials. She also said I can. Only get the doctors appointment when I come in person and it might take up to 2 weeks to get me a doctor. Issue is I am planning on traveling at 36 wks with a couple of days stopover at Minnesota . I have already booked a ticket to this effect. Do you think I can get an appointment with a doc without necessarily showing up first or having to wait 2 weeks. I am really desperate for all the info I can get. P.s selling point is the fees. Way cheaper that the one I have with a hospital in Houston. Thanks.
Prior to now, MIHS sends you the doctor's and financial appointment at the same time. In recent times however, due to the traffic of people using the place, they just send you the financial appointment. This is in a bid to gauge your commitment to using them, so as it stands you only get your doctor's appointment after you have met the financial and paid. Most times its an interval of days or at most a week. You're 36weeks gone, the earlier you come the better.
