Intresting. My ideology is progressive conservative in other words patriotic right and slightly center somewhat like obama's progressive democrat but with less national diluted way of policy. I believe that a nation or region should stay intact. Help out others in their own places and only dilute with outsiders that can contribute to the society. A few internal policies i can categories with are:

*Every public office internally should be based on credible elections,  from tribe representatives which we now call traditional rulers to local govt chairman and other offical positions all the way to the presidency; Except for ministers which should be very well vetted.

* that many of the populace joins the national military enlistment sweetened with more national accessibility eg You will always pay half price for bus fares, half price for rail fares, 3/4 price for any national airline, etc if u'r just enlisted u'll have these benefits for the many years you participate and other benefits when ur enlistment is over, u 'll never go on to fight outside but will be ready to defend inside if attacked or help during a natural disaster etc but the real miltary will have life time benefits and it should be advertised not too cool to taunt or throw it on other peoples face including those that don't participate at all.  This way Nigeria will put fear in nations like libya and her northern african brothers and also sudan supporter of APC and just incase at any one influenced by hataz around the east, west, and south of Africa. But still yet maintain a cool foreign policy of friendship not trouble. U get the drift.

*  that every Nigerian should be a Nigerian first, where u were born within Nigeria next, and other historical facts. This should be the way people are vetted in many applications and if u have lived anywhere in Nigeria for 1day after five years and a nigerian citizen u should be allowed to vote on all levels without any fear in that area. If u'r under the ecomog umbrella, u should only be allowed to vote up to governor elections if u have lived there for more than 5years and 6months but not presidency level except after 8yrs where by u have lived in Nigeria for more than 7years straight when added together considering ur trips and so on.

*  that all Nigerians rights are respected in many levels and that the nation should be more technology inclined and savvy.

*that the nation is religiously free and anyone can worship or not worship anywhere.

*80% capitalist society. If u'r buying estate after estate and ur money and business looks kprukere all ur assets can be seized but after proof of misconducts.

*single payer healthcare system refined to suite us and ecowas.

*Border enforcement particularly to northern africans and middle easterns that might have many more scary agendas.

*Free education in comfortable classrooms for motherless, less priviledged, and other reasons for children all the way through SS3 and 60% off school fees for citizens faring well under what the govt might have concluded fairing well. Abuses will be frowned upon and heavy fines if somethings are wrong with ur information. University fee will be reasonable and negotiatable depending on national intrest in education but generally won't be expensive.

*Just letting everyone live their way they want and aspire to get to the top.

*codes of housing, elections, national contracts, huge resources etc will be taken seriously.

*resources will be national if it were to be of global importance but will be spent transparently in infrastructure, job creation, trainning, and national intrest.

Thats a tall call. Democracy is still the very best form of government in my opinion, definitely not communism.

olusegun obasanjo was president of Nigeria between 1999-2007. He served Nigeria to the best of his abilities. good or bad his place in history is assured. This thread does not intend to discuss his legacy or policies, actions or inactions.

but rather this thread is designed to look at his policies from a personal angle. if u had been president between 1999-2007, what would u have done differently from what obasanjo did? what did obasanjo not do, that u would have done?
