The bible is just a slamming together of random folk stories to try to create a narrative. Like trying to blend the movie 300 and Star Wars and have King Leonidas and Luke Skywalker be the same person (you are going to run into some trouble if you are careful). Without a doubt, the writers did an awful job of editing. The only questions I have are: 1) Did they fail to cut out the unnecessary contradictions because they were ignorant/lazy or 2) They failed to cut it out because they assumed that the readers were too ignorant and lazy to notice. I guess there is a third (and more likely option). They stole stories that people were familiar with and wanted to maintain enough of each story so that all parties could see the story they were used to. In the end, the book is a total mess. 1 Like |

U might want to insert one or two verses in ur holy book promising them some unrealistic rewards (after death, of course) and some frightening eternal damnation if anyone of them think,ask questions, search for verification or doubt the monstousity of the FSM.You also need to control people's lives with the scrpitures. Focus on essential and natural things: You can only eat during even hours of the day, you can only use the rest room four times a day (#1 & #2 combined), you have to have pasta every other meal, etc. It would also be helpful to impose completely unnecessary surgical procedures: Every man must have his right ear lobe cut off. I am not an atheist, but I will reply to your questions completely without logical fallacy or special pleading. 1. Where do you come from? Magic Genital Crabs. 2. What is your purpose on earth? My purpose is to glorify Magic Genital Crabs. 3. Does life have a meaning? The meaning of life is to glorify Magic Genital Crabs so that I can become one after my human life ends. 4. What is just and fair for you? Fair and just is whatever the Magic Genital Crabs say. They are much more wise that any human can ever be, so I don't question it. 5. God forbids, if your child is murdered and the person is never caught and brought to justice, how would you handle it, seeing that life has no meaning and we are just here on earht to live and die. I would have great peace and comfort knowing that the Magic Genital Crabs will meter out justice in the end. 6. Why?) are enjoyed by humans, they ultimately get in the way of our glorification of the MGC's. The Magic Genital Crabs know this and are jealous and petty. We must walk a fine line between our base pleasures and glorification of the MGC's. If we are stong, our reward will be great. 10. Is death the end of life? It is simply the best process to describe the diversity of life on this planet. It is consistent with all that we have learned about biology, molecular biology, anthropology, genetics and paleontology in the last 100 years. |

ijawkid: Why can't atheists and confused ones alike just try to understand that when it is said God forgets it does not mean he runs short of memory or suddenly develops amnesia and so can't actually remember the sins one has committed.......What theists and confused ones alike fail to understand is that unless an act has a real, direct, measurable and positive impact on the lives of currently or future living beings, non-believers will not (& should not) value it. It does not help when the words from your god are not even followed by him. Nothing demonstrates an inability to "forgive & forget" greater than torturing people forever. 1 Like |

I understand that cigarette smoking can lead to addiction & lung cancer. The primitive people of biblical times did not know this. What is wrong with a glass (or two) of sherry after dinner? What does "womanizing" mean anyway? Are women being abused? Raped? Forced to hide their heads or bodies under suffocating black tarps in the intense heat? |
