Early life and career

He graduated from high school in St Mary's shortly before the move to Michigan, and claimed to have been ordained into the Methodist ministry at the age of twenty-one. The seminary he claimed to have attended, though, never existed,[6]:53, and census records show he had less than ten years' education. Lake, then, had no formal theological training.
Lake moved to a suburb of Chicago, Harvey, in 1890, where he worked as a roofer and construction worker before returning to his hometown in 1896. According to Lake, he became an industrious businessman and started two newspapers, the Harvey Citizen in Harvey, Illinois and the Soo Times in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, before beginning a successful career in real estate, and later, becoming a millionaire in life insurance dealings. Historian Barry Morton found no evidence that Lake ever owned the two newspapers, citing sources which indicate the Harvey Citizen was founded by the Harvey township,[8] and the Soo Times was started by George A. Ferris and owned by Ferris & Scott Publishers.[1]:103[9]:394[10] Morton further alleges that Lake exaggerated his business career, and that "clear evidence" shows Lake instead worked as a small-scale contractor, roofer and "house-flipper".[1]:103. In the 1900 Census, Lake's occupation is listed as "carpenter".[11] In February 1893, Lake married Jennie Stevens of Newberry, Michigan, and the two had six children and adopted another before her death in 1908. During the 1890s Lake and many members of his family began appearing regularly in Dowie's services, where they were invariably healed and allegedly brought back from death's door. In 1898 Lake opened a small chapter of Dowie's Christian Catholic Church in Sault Ste Marie and held meetings in the attic of his parents' home. In 1901 he relocated his family to Zion, Illinois, where he worked in the theocratic town's construction department.

After Parham's departure a group of several hundred "Parhamites" remained in Zion, led by Thomas Hezmalhalch—a recent arrival from the Azusa Street Revival. As 1907 wore on, Lake grew in stature among this group, and was usually listed as co-leader.ke and Hezma After Parham's arrest for pedophilia in the summer of 1907, the Parhamites descended into a collective frenzy. Believing that many had been possessed by demons, a number of brutal exorcisms began, in which at least two deaths occurred.[16][17] In the face of arrests and potential mob violence, the Parhamites were forced to flee en masse from Illinois. Lalhalch left for Indianapolis. Once there, they raised $2000 to finance a Pentecostal mission to South Africa.
Missionary work in Africa
With Thomas Hezmalhalch, Lake founded the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (AFM) in 1908 and carried on missionary work from 1908-13. Lake and Hezmalhalch would appear to be the first Pentecostal missionaries to South Africa, and introduced speaking in tongues. Many of those who joined their church had previously been Zionists allied to Dowie's organization who believed in faith healing. Morton writes [1]:98, "Lake was instrumental in spreading this fusion of Zionism/Pentecotalism that is unique to southern Africa... about half of southern African Christians today [2012] are adherents of it... Lake played a decisive role in the spreading of this 'second evangelization'." Lake's movement attracted many of the early Zionists led by Pieter L. Le Roux of Wakkerstroom[18]:15. Due to the segregationist impulses of the AFM's white membership,[19] the majority of its African members eventually seceded, forming many different Zionist Christian sects.[citation needed]
Just six months after Lake's arrival in South Africa, his first wife, Jennie, died on December 22, 1908.[3] Lake recorded that she died of a stroke. He continued his work in Africa for another four years, raising his seven children with the help of his sister Irene.[3]
Lake's ministry in South Africa was not without controversy. Morton writes[1]:114–15 that Lake was accused of: misappropriating the AFM's funds, particularly that funds did not flow to poor rural areas but were concentrated with Lake and his party; acting dictatorially; exaggerating the effectiveness of the revival movement he led; and staging miraculous healings through audience plants.
Later life and religious work
Lake returned to America on February 1, 1913, and married Florence Switzer by September 1913.[3] Lake's comment[citation needed] on this second marriage was, "Men in these days consider themselves to be happily married once. I have been especially blessed in that I have been happily married twice." From this marriage five children were born.
After a year of itinerant preaching, Lake relocated to Spokane, WA by September 1914 and began ministering in "The Church of Truth". He started an organization called The Divine Healing Institute and opened what he called "Lake's Divine Healing Rooms". Lake ran the "healing rooms" from 1915 until May 1920, at which time he moved to Portland, Oregon, for a similar ministry that lasted for another five years. He continued to found churches and "healing rooms" down the California coast and eventually to Houston, TX in 1927, before finally returning to Spokane in 1931. Upon his return to Spokane he purchased an old church and began his final church and healing room.[3]
In 1935, Lake suffered a serious stroke and died on September 16, 1935,[3] at age 65.

In 1987, Wilford Reidt (the son-in-law of Lake) and his wife, Gertrude (Lake's daughter) passed the leadership of their ministry to Curry R. Blake. Blake was named the General Overseer of the International Apostolic Council, an organization founded by John G. Lake in 1914. Today, the ministry establishes "John G. Lake Healing Rooms" and trains Christians in divine healing.
In 1999, the Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington were opened, which are not affiliated with John G. Lake Ministries. The Healing Rooms place an emphasis on not only serving the city of Spokane, but in duplicating the ministry of healing globally, with currently 2,002 Healing Rooms in 58 nations.

some stories about Pastors and tithing it is very funny what they make that they get the money from the poor followers twisting the BibleBeen there, done that, got the t-shirt! Never ever say to a devout 10% church-tither that you give your offerings to an outside charity, spend it feeding the homeless..etc. They will go balistic- "you don't give to your chuuuuuurch  You have to give to the church fiiiiiiiirst!!!" People would say, well it doesn't matter where the money goes, God sees your heart in giving and will honor you anyway. Yea, he saw my fear and greed motives. Nice! I remember pastors challenging this attitude in their weekly mandatory tithe sermonette. Giving outside the church is offerings, not tithes, your 10% tithe still belongs in your church home. Creeps!!! :flame But dare you to stand up and ask where your 10% is going and you are automatically labelled divisive, contentious, trying to cause division..etc. Everytime I think how they use every tactic to manipulate people's money away from them and then curse them if they ask for an accounting or if they would prefer their money to go to actually "helping" people instead of just paying for some extravagant building- they were of "satan". :flame :bite When I was tied up in the tithe bondage was when I was very young, just moved out of home and barely made enough to survive. So I dropped out of college because I could no longer afford books and tuiton, when all my extra money was going to tithes, faith offerings, covenent partner offerings, love offerings, missionary offering...etc. Even after my hubby and I got married, we were in bondage to tithing for the first year. I remember we moved away and the pastor told us before we moved cross country to send out tithes back home until we found a home church. We paid our tithes and lived off of a bag of potatoes and a bag of oranges for 10 days because we had no money left. Stupid me!! I'm so angry There was a charismatic church across the community where the preacher taught that even if you quit church, you should still pay your tithes (which showed that his priorities didn't lie with attendance and soul saving, but pocket lining). My pastor used one story time after time about an old lady in our church who used to make money on the side making quilted "chicken" door stops (remember those?), and every week, she would give him the $1 or $2 tithe on it. He said it used to break his heart when that would happen, since she was extremely poor, was living on a fixed income, and had relatives mooching off of her. He would tell about how he would want to give it back, plus some, and the "Lord" would stop him, not wanting him (the pastor) to rob her of her blessing. |

Benny Hinn -- False Prophet Extraodinaire

TV mega-preacher, Benny Hinn, used a false prophecy to extort millions of dollars from unsuspecting victims. He warned TBN's TV audience that 1999 was going to be a year of plenty and the year 2000 would bring disaster.
He threatened the viewers that those who didn't double their giving in 1999 would not survive the year 2000. Even the donors who had already called in their pledges were ordered to call back and increase their giving or face the consequences. This certifies Benny Hinn as a false prophet.
This isn't the first time Hinn has prophesied falsely. Back in 1989 he prophesied to his congregation at the Orlando Christian Center in Florida what he was seeing for the decade of the 1990s.
"The Lord also tells me to tell you in mid 90s -- about '94 or '95, no later than that -- God will destroy the homosexual community of America . . . He will destroy it with fire."
"The Spirit of God tells me -- an earthquake will hit the East Coast of America and destroy much in the 90s."
"The Spirit tells me -- Fidel Castro will die in the 90s. . . Holy Spirit just said to me, it'll be worse than any death you can imagine."
After 20 minutes of prophesying to his congregation that night, Hinn appeared to be "drunk in the spirit." When he came to his senses he said, "I'd like to know what I said. I was totally gone."
Yet no matter how many times Hinn's false prophecies have been exposed, he still performs to overflowing crowds in stadiums around the world.
Hinn shares his latest blunder with 700-Club founder, Pat Robertson, though Robertson could not be reached to verify his involvement.
It was the spring, 1999 Praise-a-Thon, Trinity Broadcasting Network's (TBN), biannual fund-raiser, seen around the world via satellite. From the discussion between Paul & Jan Crouch and their guests, pledges were down because people were apprehensive anticipating potential troubles arising from Y2K hysteria. 'Prophet' Hinn exhorted TBN's supporters to not let Y2K fears affect their donations.
Hinn started out by establishing his credentials as a prophet of God. He called upon TBN's fellow guests for help in interpreting a disturbing dream he had had. "I do not fully understand it," he lamented, "but I really believe it deals with what God is about to do in the world."
He gave a long narrative of his mystical dream that he said was "more of a vision of the night" than a dream. "In this dream, I did not see his face," Hinn began. "Everything in me knew it was the prophet Elijah . . . I walked up to him and he was turning water into blood." Hinn continued, "As I came to him, he said to me, 'Take this!' I took the rod from him.".
When he finished, fellow guest Mark Chirona, offered the interpretation. "The formless essence of Elijah is the spirit of Elijah that God promised to pour out on the last days' company of seasoned ministry that will literally fulfill everything that God promised under the old covenant that would come into the new covenant of a prophetic order that would change the course of history."
Hinn responded. "I feel the anointing here while he is talking!" " Chirona continued, "And when Elijah handed you the rod, God was putting in your hand a new level of apostolic authority for the nations. . . You are entering into a new age of the miraculous. There will be a sharpening, for the spirit of Elijah rests on you."
Hinn laid out his first prophetic message under Elijah's mantle. "Pat Robertson, in January, said 'I have just come out of two days of prayer and fasting. The Lord has said to me that this year, 1999, would be the greatest year for the body of Christ, economically and spiritually, but beginning the year 2000, disasters would hit in the world, economically and otherwise, and only those in the church who have been giving to God would be spared.'"
Turning his attention to the viewers, Hinn said, "So when I say to you here and in your home, increase your seed, God knows you can and you must because if you do not, you will be the one to suffer."
TBN supporters then jammed the phones in order to survive the coming year of disaster. Hinn gave dire warnings to those that pledge and then fail to follow through. "And one final thing, if you break your promise, hear this! Some of you make a pledge and along the way you decide to forget about it. The Bible says God will destroy the work of your hands if you do that . . . We can't play games with him!"
" Now, some of you will have to step out in faith tonight," Hinn said. "You may not even have the money right now. In fact, most times you make a pledge you don't even have it."
Then he followed up with a warning to the skeptics. "You know, you do not get under the kind of anointing I get under just because you sing hallelujah," Hinn said.. ''There's a heavy price and I would not want to be in the shoes of the one who touches the anointing. Don't touch the anointing!"
"I'm giving you a prophetic word. You know the scripture says they prospered because they obeyed his prophets. I'm telling you tonight, I'm speaking prophetically. Obey the Lord!"
Hinn had a solution for those who were short on cash, -- liquidate! ""You know if I was you and God spoke to me like this, I'd take it out of my investments to give it to God now cause it's already spring and the year 2000 is almost next door."
So now that the year 2000 has come and gone with no casualties to count, will TBN refund the extorted funds? Don't count on it! |

The whole demon teaching in these churches is absolutely ridiculous. If demons were as prevalent and powerful as we were taught they were, humanity would not exist. In contrast to scripture, which states numerous times "fear not" and that "God has not given us a spirit of fear", these teachings are designed to invoke a fear for which there is no remedy.

Prayer changes things
"Prayer chains"and people standing up in church to request prayer for another person in the church too often serve the same purpose....spreading gossip under the guise of disseminating information for the purpose of prayer. One example I heard too many times was, "I'm standing here tonight to request prayer for Sister So-and-So who isn't here. I don't know if you all were aware of this or not, but her husband is running around with another woman, so I just want us to lift her up tonight in prayer". |

I know a bit about Hitler's influence on the church. In Germany there was the state church and the underground church. The likes of the theologians Karl Barths and Dietrich Bonhoeffer were leaders of the underground church. Bonhoeffer will later be implicated in a plot to kill Hitler, arrested and executed a few days to the end of the war.
My point is: if you are saying you still run a state church after the style of Hitler, are you sure ministers can speak truth to power as it should be?
I commend the idea of Christians ministers working. I am not sure it's something that can happen in Nigeria. That is tru but also some catholic priest lose their life during Hitler and I know from my grandmother and my father that the life was not easy for catholics. The goverment give the catholic church the information about the salary you had last year and from this salary of last year you have to pay the churchtax, when you pay churchtax that will reduce the tax you have to pay to the goverment so normal working people get back what they pay for churchtax. The churchtax I have to pay to the churchaccount in my district. So the Goverment give only the information and the church has to look that their members pay the churchtax. The church is free and can speak against the goverment, and they church is the speaker of the poor. The priest have the right of free speach!!!!! It is the same with the pastors from the lutheran church and the priest from the old catholics and the other christian churches we have in Austria. |

Very very good writing.
I am from Austria and 100 years ago Austria was a big empire the austrian hungary empire and I make a research about tithing in my country and we didnot have it since 1790 because the Austrian emperior closed all the monastery where the nuns and the monks didnot work and the money goes to a special account and from this account and with goverment money the priest where paid.
Since 1938 when Adolf Hitler come to Austria he start with the churchtax and we still have this tax until today and it is between 1,1% and 1,5% of the salary from a year when the salary is over 12 000 euro per year the same is in germany and in many other europa countries.
So it was the first time I hear from a student from Nigeria about the tithing, because this was at that time new for me.
Catholic Priest have to work as teacher for religion in the schools, they have also to work in prisions in my country! Monks and nuns also work as teachers, in hospitals........ |

Dr Sheik Umar Khan had been hospitalised in quarantine since he contracted the virus last week. The virologist was credited with treating more than 100 patients at the hospital in Kenema - one of the world’s leading Ebola diagnosis facilities.
The current outbreak is the largest in history, so far killing more than 672 people across West Africa since the outbreak began in February, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO). Nations affected include Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria.
Dr Khan's death on Tuesday afternoon was confirmed by chief medical officer Dr Brima Kargbo, who had previously hailed him as a "national hero" when she announced he had contracted the the disease.
"It is a big and irreparable loss to Sierra Leone as he was the only specialist the country had in viral haemorrhagic fevers," Kargbo said on Tuesday.
Dr Khan was being treated at an Ebola ward run by the medical charity Medecins Sans Frontieres, which has in recent weeks described the disease’s West African outbreak as "out of control".

The confirmation of Dr Khan's death came as two American health workers were being treated for Ebola at a hospital in neighboring Liberia.
Health workers have become increasingly frustrated by the outbreak that has killed dozens of their colleagues. Last week, dozens of nurses at the Kenema facility staged a strike after three colleagues died, BBC News reported.
Despite international help ranging from doctors to safety equipment, weak health systems in affected countries are struggling to contain the disease.

I am not in anyway an attempting to deny the existence of the virus in Nigeria, or to encourage anyone to seek interaction with the virus, but rather to assert a superior truth that is consistent with the scriptures and stir the faith of those of us who are believers in Christ Jesus.
Secondly, while the story about John G. Lake is very true, his experience was with an equally deadly plague called the bubonic plague.

Lake, was a Canadian–American leader in the Pentecostal movement that began in the early 20th century, and is known as a faith healer, missionary, and with Thomas Hezmalhalch, co-founder of the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa. Through his 1908–13 African missionary work, Lake played a decisive role in the spread of Pentecostalism in southern Africa, the most successful southern African religious movement of the 20th century.[1]:98[2]:34 After completing his missionary work in Africa, Lake evangelized for 20 years, primarily along the west coast of the United States setting up "healing rooms" and healing campaigns, and establishing churches. Lake was influenced by the healing ministry of John Alexander Dowie and the ministry of Charles Parham.[3]

Early life and career
Lake was born in St. Mary's, Ontario, Canada and moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan with his family in 1886.[4] He was born into a large family of 15 siblings (eight of whom died young).[5] He graduated from high school in St Mary's shortly before the move to Michigan, and claimed to have been ordained into the Methodist ministry at the age of twenty-one.[4] The seminary he claimed to have attended, though, never existed,[6]:53, and census records show he had less than ten years' education.[7] Lake, then, had no formal theological training.
Lake moved to a suburb of Chicago, Harvey, in 1890, where he worked as a roofer and construction worker before returning to his hometown in 1896. According to Lake, he became an industrious businessman and started two newspapers, the Harvey Citizen in Harvey, Illinois and the Soo Times in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan,[4] before beginning a successful career in real estate, and later, becoming a millionaire in life insurance dealings. Historian Barry Morton found no evidence that Lake ever owned the two newspapers, citing sources which indicate the Harvey Citizen was founded by the Harvey township,[8] and the Soo Times was started by George A. Ferris and owned by Ferris & Scott Publishers.[1]:103[9]:394[10] Morton further alleges that Lake exaggerated his business career, and that "clear evidence" shows Lake instead worked as a small-scale contractor, roofer and "house-flipper".[1]:103. In the 1900 Census, Lake's occupation is listed as "carpenter".[11] In February 1893, Lake married Jennie Stevens of Newberry, Michigan, and the two had six children and adopted another before her death in 1908. During the 1890s Lake and many members of his family began appearing regularly in Dowie's services, where they were invariably healed and allegedly brought back from death's door. In 1898 Lake opened a small chapter of Dowie's Christian Catholic Church in Sault Ste Marie and held meetings in the attic of his parents' home. In 1901 he relocated his family to Zion, Illinois, where he worked in the theocratic town's construction department.
After massive retrenchments affected ever-bankrupt Zion City,[12] Lake found new employment around 1905. He later claimed that he maintained relationships with many of the leading figures of his day including railroad tycoon James Jerome Hill, Cecil Rhodes, Mahatma Gandhi, Arthur Conan Doyle, and others.[13][14] When he began his preaching career he claimed to have walked away from a $50,000 year salary (around $1.25 million in 2007 US dollars[15]), as well as his seat on the Chicago Board of Trade. Lake's biographer, Burpeau, reported no evidence outside of Lake's own assertions that Lake was connected to these wealthy financiers and industrialists.[6] According to Morton, contemporary records show Lake never left Zion City at the time Lake was said to be making his name in Chicago; he instead worked in nearby Waukegan as an "ordinary, small-town insurance salesman". Lake does not appear in contemporary newspapers until 1907 where he gave an account of his experience of speaking in tongues.[1]:105 In 1907 Lake was converted to Pentecostalism when Charles Parham staged a tent revival in Zion in an attempt to woo Dowie's supporters. After Parham's departure a group of several hundred "Parhamites" remained in Zion, led by Thomas Hezmalhalch—a recent arrival from the Azusa Street Revival. As 1907 wore on, Lake grew in stature among this group, and was usually listed as co-leader. After Parham's arrest for pedophilia in the summer of 1907, the Parhamites descended into a collective frenzy. Believing that many had been possessed by demons, a number of brutal exorcisms began, in which at least two deaths occurred.[16][17] In the face of arrests and potential mob violence, the Parhamites were forced to flee en masse from Illinois. Lake and Hezmalhalch left for Indianapolis. Once there, they raised $2000 to finance a Pentecostal mission to South Africa.
Missionary work in Africa
With Thomas Hezmalhalch, Lake founded the Apostolic Faith Mission of South Africa (AFM) in 1908 and carried on missionary work from 1908-13. Lake and Hezmalhalch would appear to be the first Pentecostal missionaries to South Africa, and introduced speaking in tongues. Many of those who joined their church had previously been Zionists allied to Dowie's organization who believed in faith healing. Morton writes [1]:98, "Lake was instrumental in spreading this fusion of Zionism/Pentecotalism that is unique to southern Africa... about half of southern African Christians today [2012] are adherents of it... Lake played a decisive role in the spreading of this 'second evangelization'." Lake's movement attracted many of the early Zionists led by Pieter L. Le Roux of Wakkerstroom[18]:15. Due to the segregationist impulses of the AFM's white membership,[19] the majority of its African members eventually seceded, forming many different Zionist Christian sects.[citation needed]
Just six months after Lake's arrival in South Africa, his first wife, Jennie, died on December 22, 1908.[3] Lake recorded that she died of a stroke. He continued his work in Africa for another four years, raising his seven children with the help of his sister Irene.[3]
Lake's ministry in South Africa was not without controversy. Morton writes[1]:114–15 that Lake was accused of: misappropriating the AFM's funds, particularly that funds did not flow to poor rural areas but were concentrated with Lake and his party; acting dictatorially; exaggerating the effectiveness of the revival movement he led; and staging miraculous healings through audience plants.
Later life and religious work
Lake returned to America on February 1, 1913, and married Florence Switzer by September 1913.[3] Lake's comment[citation needed] on this second marriage was, "Men in these days consider themselves to be happily married once. I have been especially blessed in that I have been happily married twice." From this marriage five children were born.
After a year of itinerant preaching, Lake relocated to Spokane, WA by September 1914 and began ministering in "The Church of Truth". He started an organization called The Divine Healing Institute and opened what he called "Lake's Divine Healing Rooms". Lake ran the "healing rooms" from 1915 until May 1920, at which time he moved to Portland, Oregon, for a similar ministry that lasted for another five years. He continued to found churches and "healing rooms" down the California coast and eventually to Houston, TX in 1927, before finally returning to Spokane in 1931. Upon his return to Spokane he purchased an old church and began his final church and healing room.[3]
In 1935, Lake suffered a serious stroke and died on September 16, 1935, at age 65.
Legacy
Several books have been written recording Lake's experiences and the miracles attributed to Lake.
Lake's history has served as a guide to other ministries, such as Curry R. Blake's "John G. Lake Ministries," based in Dallas, TX, (www.jglm.org) and Healing Rooms Ministries, led by Cal Pierce, headquartered in Spokane, Washington.
In 1987, Wilford Reidt (the son-in-law of Lake) and his wife, Gertrude (Lake's daughter) passed the leadership of their ministry to Curry R. Blake. Blake was named the General Overseer of the International Apostolic Council, an organization founded by John G. Lake in 1914. Today, the ministry establishes "John G. Lake Healing Rooms" and trains Christians in divine healing.
In 1999, the Healing Rooms in Spokane, Washington were opened, which are not affiliated with John G. Lake Ministries. The Healing Rooms place an emphasis on not only serving the city of Spokane, but in duplicating the ministry of healing globally, with currently 2,002 Healing Rooms in 58 nations.
Skeptics[who?] claim that new "scientific analysis" of John Lake's life and work could prove that his real motives were questionable. Barry Morton states: "An analysis of the missionary career of John G Lake shows that the initial spread of Pentecostalism and Zionism in southern Africa was facilitated by the systematic use of fraud and deception."

However, one thing i'm sure of is that it is still people like you that would question the audacity and biblical basis of Pastor Adeboye asking his members to give any amount based on kilometers they transported themselves without accident. You would still condemn why and how rccg can generate a 5million Euros offering at one take. All around the world, the Catholic Church is one of the biggest health providers. In Nigeria, the Catholic Church has 1384 Health facilities mostly spread across underserved and hard-to-reach communities in the 36 states of Nigeria, providing varying levels of healthcare delivery services and humanitarian assistance to the poor, vulnerable and excluded persons regardless of race or religion.
Sustainable HIV/AIDS care and Treatment Action In Nigeria (SUSTAIN) Program
Caritas Nigeria is currently implementing the five years comprehensive HIV care, prevention and treatment grant titled Sustainable HIV Care and Treatment Action in Nigeria (SUSTAIN) funded by the United States Government through the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Caritas Nigeria is one of the five CDC Nigeria’s Lead Implementing Partners with the mandate to coordinate HIV care and treatment interventions in faith based health facilities. The goal of the program is “Morbidity and mortality due to HIV infection is reduced in Nigeria.”
The SUSTAIN Project works through faith based health facilities to target people living and affected by HIV and AIDS in underserved and hard to reach communities in 12 states in Nigeria. The goal of the project is to saturate all faith based health facilities with required HIV care and treatment services in communities where there are needs. SUSTAIN provides value-based prevention education, treatment, care and support to people living with or affected by HIV in Nigeria. In line with the national plan to eliminate Mother to Child Transmission (eMTCT), SUSTAIN has a strong focus on preventing new infections in women of childbearing age, creating demand for uptake of antenatal care, and providing access to prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) services for pregnant mothers.
The SUSTAIN Project presently supports about 100,000 people living and affected with HIV and AIDS with necessary services across 120 sites comprising of comprehensive care and treatment healthcare facilities, stand-alone PMTCT facilities and community based organizations. Caritas Nigeria currently works in 12 states of Nigeria, namely; Benue, Delta, Ekiti, Kaduna, Kogi, Nassarawa, Oyo, Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Plateau States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Caritas Nigeria’s priority on the SUSTAIN Project is in line with the priority of the Government of Nigeria and CDC Nigeria to scale up HIV and AIDS prevention, care and treatment services in Nigeria. Caritas Nigeria’s focus is to strengthen the health systems in faith based healthcare facilities and the capacity of coordinating faith based health departments and organizations to support the national agenda while we continue to expand services to underserved communities and improve the quality of services. It advocates with governments, international organizations and drug companies for universal access to cost-effective and suitable medicines.
Caritas Nigeria is focused on improving the quality of services across all service delivery points by providing regular technical assistance, onsite and offsite training and mentoring, strengthen our strategic information program and promoting operational research activities.
The followings are some notable accomplishments of Caritas Nigeria’s work on the SUSTAIN program:
HIV Care, Treatment and Prevention
77,083 adults and children provided with care
46,656 adults and children with HIV infection are receiving antiretroviral therapy (current).
110,180 pregnant women were tested for HIV.
7,190 HIV positive pregnant women received ARVs to prevent transmission of HIV to their children.
406,091 individuals received counselling and testing services for HIV.
7,892 Orphans and Vulnerable Children received support services.
4,817 individuals (in-school and out-of-school youths) reached with HIV prevention interventions

I didnot have a church, I am a churchmember and I have friends good friends who belong to different churches!!!!!!!and one is a Bishop from the old catholics in my country and he was born in Nigeria, was a priest in Nigeria, was a teacher in Nigeria in Ibadan, he study in my country, went back in his country and he come back to make his PHD. a girlfriend is a pastor in a lutheran church, a good friend make at the moment his PHD in religion and his PHD thesis is about the new churches and the influence in the society in the world!!!!!!!and I have friends in nigeria who have parents who are pastors!!!!!!!!! I know from what I write when I see the different lifestil. My girlfriend the pastor and also teacher for religion. I have a very good contact to a catholic secondary school in nigeria and what i hear from a nun last year when she was in my country to learn how a school is working in my country, we are still in contact!!!!!!! |

It is only one offering but we know what the church make with the offering. Our pastors and priest didnot have this big cars like this so called great man of God. Or pastors didnot jet to Uk in a private jet for a wedding!!!!!!!
