Christianity Etc › Re: The Sudden Industrial Boom In The Churching Business/industry by nora544: 1:00pm On Dec 17, 2014*. Modified: 1:27pm On Dec 17, 2014 |
henryobinna: I know this might be offensive to some people(including me) but I just have to write it.
The boom in this 'industry' is not like every other, because is way more lucrative than (probably) any other when your capital is included you'll notice you spend less and earn more.
Now the boom am talking about maybe seen as positive or negative but thing is everybody(some jobless youth) want to own a church and hence be referred to as pastor, prophet, evangelist, 'daddy/mummy' and the list goes on. Some of these youth claim they were called, sometimes I ask if they called their self or God did. the cause of this sudden influx of every jack into the 'churching' business/industry is as a result of the industry big fishes, these guys(tho not all) are not helping matters at all; fleet of exotic cars, private jets, expensive schools, magnificent houses/mansions, and you know all these are eye catchy(tell me who don't want to live a good life?)
Since these Big fishes flaunt all these expensive properties every guy now wants to join the industry as a result becoming the 'young entrepreneurs/hustlers/upcoming MOG.
Now here's my reason for calling it a business/industry; If you look around you (except you're in the core muslim north) you'll notice just there are numerous churches some with ridiculous names but one funny thing is most of these ones around you are all owned by the hustlers in the industry. Now it doesn't end there some of them after seeing their self being driven in exotic cars(actually in their dreams), they wake up and aggressively order for seven offerings to be given and you wonder what that money's for.(dear he has a dream).
But the quest for money doesn't start and end with the hustlers but it originated from some of them big fish. For example I remember when my cousin was telling me about a church he went when he visited there. The church is owned by one relatively popular pastor(I no call name oh, he's church is also popular), his church has two branches(or he owns two churches) but the problem is the pastor runs it as a business in the sense that he manages the two churches himself, which means he's the only pastor, preaches in Branch A then rushes to Branch B to preach(every sunday )in a bid to gather all the money and this man has exotic cars like craze. You can imagine.
These business men have hijacked the church of God and turned it to a business making a lot of money out of it but that's not my problem, my problem is the way they treat poor people like sh|t, the ones who own schools; their school fees are so exorbitant.
Well, I know some of you here have the ambitions of becoming big fishes in the 'churching' industry/business but all I have to say is diaris God oh you see it very right and next month they will ask their poor followers for the first fruit of the year to put it in their pocket. |

intergral: wait let me ask you a question so that you can ask your pastors. Why is it that muslims go to macca to pray since it is the birth place of prophet mohammad (S.A.W) and till today its islam that they are practising there and why is it that christians go to isreal to pray since it is the birth place of jesus christ but to be sincere the only religion existing in isreal is judaism and islam? Why are there no christian Israelis ? Moses is from isreal, joshua is from isreal, abraham is from isreal, david is from isreal and jesus christ is from isreal then why are the jews and Palestines not christians? Where did christianity come or originate from? Please am not saying that you doubt anything I just want you to do some research for yourself......... " There is a saying that goes by the Israelis are the first nation to know God and witness thousands of miracles to prove God is existing" Palestinians could be christians or moslems. The head of bethlehem is a christian palestinian and the pentecost/charismatic chrtistians have forgotten that not all palestinians are moslems. Bethlehem has a Muslim majority, but is also home to one of the largest Palestinian Christian communities. Head of Municipality is the arab christian Vera Baboun. |

KLand: The gospel in itself is a message of prosperity. It is God's will for us to proper. If you don't believe in that, pls leave those of us who do, alone.
Giving to a man of God is Biblical. But if you don't want to give, no problem. Not fair castigating people unduly. a man who tell his followers it is hot okay when you give money to the people who need it and you will not get a blessing is for me a man who has his own gospel and that is not the gospel for real christians. I know you are a brainwashed followers of him please read this book and it will open your eyes and you have an idol and that is money. Health, Wealth and Happiness, theologians David Jones and Russell Woodbridge characterize the doctrine as poor theology. They suggest that righteousness cannot be earned and that the Bible does not promise an easy life. They argue that it is inconsistent with the gospel of Jesus and propose that the central message of the gospel should be Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. Jones and Woodbridge see Jesus' importance as vital, criticizing the prosperity gospel for marginalizing him in favor of a focus on human need. In another article, Jones criticizes the prosperity theology interpretation of the Abrahamic covenant, God's promise to bless Abraham's descendants, arguing that this blessing is spiritual and should already apply to all Christians. He also argues that the proponents of the doctrine misconstrue the atonement, criticizing their teaching that Jesus' death took away poverty as well as sin. He believes that this teaching is drawn from a misunderstanding of Jesus' life and criticizes John Avanzini's teaching that Jesus was wealthy as a misrepresentation, noting that Paul often taught Christians to give up their material possessions. Although he accepts giving as "praiseworthy", he questions the motives of prosperity theology and criticizes the "Law of Compensation", which teaches that when Christians give generously, God will give back more in return. Rather, Jones cites Jesus' teaching to "give, hoping for nothing in return." Jones and Woodbridge also note that Jesus instructed followers to focus on spiritual rewards, citing his command in Matthew 6:19–20 "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth ... But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven" (KJV). Jones criticizes the doctrine's view of faith: he does not believe that it should be used as a spiritual force for material gain but seen as selfless acceptance of God. Mark 10:25 that "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (KJV) as evidence to oppose such thinking |

KLand: Thanks for your comment. But it seems you are a distant observer....
Adeboye is a humble man of God, only few of his calibre can compare. The blessings of God upon men of God is not something an unbeliver can understand. Although men of God are not perfect, they do not impoverish their members to live in affluence. The affluence of the men of God is overhyped in the media.
Actually men of God add immense value to their members. The church remains the hope of the common man, not the govt.
Adeboye is not lazy... I am suprised you implied that! He works for the church, an organisation in it self. That means he is entitled to a salary to say the least (I don't know if he collects one anyway). There is no law prohibiting working for and getting paid by a church.
Your analogy about being a thief does not apply here. Because he has never forcefuly taken anything from any body. People give willingly as they are blessed.
There is nothing wrong in associating wth all classes of people. His calling is not to the righteous alone but to sinners as well.
With the results he has achieved since he came on board over 30 years ago, I think he would have been in a wrong profession if he didn't accept to be a pastor like he did. Sorry he is a thief with fake hope he give people when he takes the money from them when he preach the gospel like he feel. He is one of the pentecost/charismatic prosperity preachers and a so called God of man who speaks about witchcraft when you didnot get what you want is a big problem. Prosperity gospel is a heresy gospel and a man who has on his homepage a button that you can send a gift to him is no real christian because it is the first time that I see this that you can donate directly to him. He is a business man, and he is selling the gospel and not more. |
Christianity Etc › Re: 70 Men Of God Travel To Jerusalem To Pray For Nigeria by nora544: 9:32am On Dec 17, 2014 |
lalasticlala: A team known as 70 wise prophets have been sent Jerusalem to pray for Nigeria. The move came from Rev. Ifeanyichukwu Epunam who assembled 70 prophets of the Christian faith through private sector sponsorship.
But before they left, they had an encounter with the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Mr. John Kennedy-Opara, at the NCPC Secretariat, Abuja, who admonished them on the essence of their spiritual journey to the holy land.
According to Sun News, while speaking to Abuja Metro, the initiator of the programme, Revd Epunam, said the programme is about the 70 wise prophets going on a national prayer summit to Jerusalem to pray for Nigerians, to pray for the president and for the peace and security of the nation, especially in 2015.
“So, it is a self-sponsored programme. The government has no kobo in it. Captains of industry sponsored it and they are here with their products to support us. They sponsored the ministers of the gospel to go and cry for mercy for Nigeria,” Epunam said.
Epunam said the project is borne out of his passion for Nigeria. “I have been a member of the National Prayer Networkin the Villa Chapel right from the Obasanjo’s government. So, I have passion for Nigeria. I have had experiences, knowing that the foundation of Nigeria is faulty, that we have to pray to put it in the right direction and at the same time, to help men and women of God know where Jesus preached the gospel: the landmarks and where he was ascendedso that the righteous will take over the earth,” Epunam stated.
In his remarks, Opara said the sponsors of the programme were exemplary people, and urged well-meaning Nigerians to emulate their gesture.
The pioneer executive secretary of the NCPC added that by so doing, crime rate in the country would be reduced, noting that an individual who embarkedon a pilgrimage, would return to the country and transform others.
http://www.lailasblog.com/2014/12/70-men-of-god-travels-to-jerusalem-to.html?m=1 It would look better when you write 70 selfish business man who sell the gospel make a business travel to Jerusalem. Nigeria has no real man of god all are man made Gods not more. the world will laught when this goes online, waste of money because pray could not help because God gave us brain and people have all in their hands to change a country, because God will help people who use their God given brain. |

I only want us to know that even if these offerings generated are used for buildings and pocket enrichment, it can't be compared to the temple in the time of Solomon. Let people learn to give as instructed by God regardless of what the pastors use d money for. God is the judge We as christian have the right to know what a pastor make with the money he get from his followers. No pastor has the right to take the money and put it in his pocket. Homebaked: I am a member of a congregation that teaches and practices tithing as one of its core doctrines. Tithing is a cash cow here and full compliance is enforced by denial of privileges to any one who consistently violates this doctrine. I had been faithful in payment, wary of the 'devourer threat' from Malachi, until the full import of the new covenant of Jesus Christ dawned on me. Now I know that the truth is being suppressed just to ensure that the congregation continues to enjoy funding through tithing. I am a sunday school teacher and already cued to teach on tithing next Sunday ,exclusively, from a handbook designed to keep the truth hidden. If you were in my situation what would you do? Leaving the congregation is not an option for me yet. Please when you are a real christian than you have to preach the truth and not the heresy prosperity gospel. |

Please when you write your master thesis please don't write that you have make a publication as a scientist because this will give you a very bad light when the world know that your master thesis is a short writing for about 23 pages.
I know a daughter from a pastor you can find her master degree thesis and she want that the people buy it because she made her master degree in houston texas. and she is a scientist, this is a big mistake and the internet will never forget this..

ALWAYS MONEY MATTERS
''Esteemed Group Pastor, Warm greetings in the matchless name of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.Amen. Congratulations on the just concluded International Pastors and Partners Conference.IPPC. I have been directed by our highly esteemed Zonal Director, Pastor ----------- to remind you of your Financial commitment to offer 7, the birthday of our dear Man of God, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, Phd. The minimum target for each Group is ten million Naira only (N10,000,000.00) . Kindly note that the money is expected on or before 2nd December as you are aware that the birthday is on the 7th of December. Thank you for your outstanding commitment to the vision of our ministry. Signed-----''
Now, the above letter just hit my email box. And I thought I should share a thought or two for the benefit of those who don't know why we are doing what we are doing. Now, in this zone, there are twelve groups plus the zonal church. The twelve groups will give a total sum of N120,000,000.00 and the zonal church will give N100,000,000.00 making a total of N220,000,000.00 (equivalent of approximately USD $1.3 million dollars). Let us assume every zone in Nigeria alone gives $1 million dollars each, about $30 million dollars will accrue to one man. Ghana will give big, SA will not lag behind et cetera. Tell me why the man will not play God? This is aside the personal effects that will be sold on that day for tens of millions of dollars. Why should such a man admit to wrongdoing or take correction from a mere mortal? It can only take God to bring him to his kneels.
Ironically, those being fleeced of these monies are suffering and shouting hallelujah while our apostles live in flagrant luxury. Some businesses have grounded, homes broken, people pauperized because of these ungodly extortions. Giving is a Godly principle that works for Christian, pagans, Muslims, Buddhists, anyone and anywhere. But these manipulated exploitation of God's people is certainly not of God.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, how many times did Jesus celebrate his birthday? Okay, birthday was not in vogue then. We knew some people WILLINGLY ministered to Him of their substances. But how many times did Jesus call for donations or give his disciples targets to meet to enable Him run His ministry? Oh, I forgot, Jesus was too divine for such. Then, can someone show me which of the apostles or disciples that did it? All the doctrines of giving that is enforced in this ministry are borrowed from the old testament. When it concerns money, old testament is applied. But when it concerns righteousness, you are reminded that old testament have been abolished. That is why every iniquity they commit are explained away in the concept of sin.
As I explained in my book Acts Of Our Apostles, one of the major reasons most African nations are poor is the rate at which our churches mop up money from circulation. The already poor people are dispossessed of their meagre incomes to the tune of billions of dollars every year, not to be invested in any beneficial project for them, but to provide luxury and thin god status for the pastors. Offer 7, Offer 1,2,3 to 31 are all avenues for filthy lucre. Any endeavour that has no benefits to mankind is futile.
https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=355387424640529&id=265251816987424 that is why he could celebrate this flamboyant birthdayparty when his brainwashed followers give the money for this. Would it not better for a real christian to give this money to the poor the people who need it. To go with this money to help an orphanage. He is a selfish man mad God. and not a real man of God. |
