51 years, Dr. Emeka Chugbo & Ors....RIP
they gave us the names of Nigerians that died outside the country but refused to give us the names of those that died inside the country. Can somebody explain this to me?
Nkpor youths in Anambra state, march down to police station after a young man was shot dead by police officers.
It is said that policemen were later set on fire in Nkpor by the angry youths, after the young man was killed by police officers in the Anambra community
Foolish people. They could not rush him to hospital.
Chi59: Why people still take the risk of proposing publicly beats me. Do you even know if that person loves you well enough or is even psychologically ready to marry you at that point in time? Any man that attempts this with me is asking for trouble. I don't like drama.

Thanks for the kind gesture. Can I drop my dad's account details? I have been caring for them but the lockdown has affected me,I can take the hunger but my age parents are my real problem now,how they will survive is a real headache to me.
Why do they always destroy seized foods?cant they give them to ophanage or the poor ?I don't know if its done like that anyway, but I think there are better ways of making good use of them, instead of wasting them like that.
niaralandtopuser: if it hit Silva hands then the right decision would have been to return the ball for a handball against mancity. The rules are clear but English ref love to behave the way it suit them
is that the excuse now? So why are they calling for penalty to be awarded to city? And what if city had gone ahead to score after the ball hit Silva's hand? Football is 50/50 thing, sometimes it goes for you and some other time it goes against you. No need flogging a dead horse.
TheGoodJoe: Neil Swarbrick, the man whose job it is to oversee the implementation of VAR in the Premier League claimed it was the correct decision.
Speaking on BBC Five Live, he said: “That’s the subjective part – was it in an unnatural place? When you look at it, at no point does Trent Alexander-Arnold’s arm move towards the ball.
“His body posture … his arm is there. His arm has got to be somewhere. His arm is slightly away from his body but that is a neutral, natural position for his stance at that moment in time.
“The ball came from a short distance at pace, and just happened to hit that arm. He didn’t move the arm towards the ball, it just hit the arm.
“Michael Oliver has seen that clearly. That’s what he explained. He said ‘I know it’s hit the arm, but there is no arm movement, it’s come at short distance, I’m comfortable that that’s not deliberate handball’.
“It has to be deliberate in the penalty area to give a penalty. It’s different to scoring a goal, where it can be accidental. To give a penalty it’s got to be deliberate.
“Michael deemed it not to be deliberate. The VAR has looked at that, listened to what Michael said, and it absolutely married up.”
Except that is simply not true.
Not only that, Swarbrick, Oliver and the VAR all failed to see it, which questions either their eyesight or their integrity – take your pick.
Swarbrick also failed to mention the actual letter of the law.
He said it was about whether the arm was “in an unnatural place”.
The law actually states: “It is usually an offence if a player: touches the ball with their hand/arm when: the hand/arm has made their body unnaturally bigger” or when the arm is raised above the head.
From being by his side, Alexander-Arnold’s arm indisputably rises and moves away from his body, therefore making his body “unnaturally bigger”.
VAR has been an unmitigated disaster. And with officials refusing to admit huge errors, and do something about them, it will continue to be so.
By the time the ball reaches Alexander-Arnold and strikes him, his arm has risen to a 45-degree angle
Stop crying over nothing. I am a Manchester United fan, so I actually supported city because I don't want Liverpool to win the league. But the ball actually hit Silva's hand before hitting Arnold, so why the cry?
dabossman: The report is actually wishy washy. I was expecting to see real business people speaking and mentioning the goods they export. Instead, it's interviews with the CEO's of one Academy and another institute.
NigeriaIsDoomed: Notwithstanding the revenue increase the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, said it has achieved with the on-going partial border closure, exporters are counting their losses as countries within the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, sub-region have started rejecting Nigerian cargoes, apparently, as a form of retaliation against the land border closure.
This latest development, according to the exporters, is gradually crippling their businesses.
In a chat with Vanguard Maritime Report, Chief Executive Officer, Multi-mix Academy, an export oriented institution, Dr. Obiora Madu, disclosed that Nigerian exports within the ECOWAS region is decreasing due to the border closure, but he failed to give figures.
He stated: “It is definitely impacting negatively on the economy as the exports done within the ECOWAS region and our neighboring countries are now in decrease. These countries that benefit from the open border, since we have closed it, even though we used to export to them before, you don’t expect to get the level of cooperation that we are getting before because they are hit hard by these closed borders”.
He further admitted that exporting generally is becoming difficult as cargoes are now undergoing careful examinations before leaving the shores of the country. This, he said, has also impacted negatively on the volume and speed of export.
“The fact is that it definitely has impact on volume, it will also impact on speed and it will not be as swift as it used to be because of scrutiny”.
In the same vein, Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Institute of Export Operations and Management, IEOM, Ofon Udofia, who spoke with Vanguard Maritime Report, revealed that the country is losing a lot of money as most of the country’s products have these West African nations as export destinations.
He stated: “It is a big problem. We are losing money because when we talk about exporting goods, we are not only talking about exporting it to countries in Asia, Europe or America. We are also talking about exports taking place within the West African sub-region.
“We in the private sector, are victims of this border closure. Take a look at companies like Unilever, they supply goods to other African countries through Nigeria and for many years, they make use of the land borders.
“We have lost a lot of money because of this. Even Dangote who exports cement to Benin Republic has lost a lot”.
On making use of the waterways to transport these cargoes, Udofia argued that it is not yet feasible as Nigeria doesn’t have any national vessels that ply the Western Coast.
He added that the cost of shipping these goods will increase as the International shipping lines will be triggered to charge extra cost for shipments.
“Even when they say we can make use of the sea, do we have vessels? We don’t have vessels plying the West Coast or even a vessel that can carry the volume of what we are exporting.
“Even Maerskline Shipping Company, MSC, or any other international shipping line that will pick products from Nigeria and take it to these West African countries must charge extra fees.
“This is because we don’t have any shipping line. Which flag are we flying, we are just deceiving ourselves. When they said that we should use inland waterways for export, we are still negotiating on how we can partner with shipping lines and the ship is already in Nigerian waters, but we have to pay five percent duty of the cost of that vessel before it comes”.
Udofia also blamed government for not planning ahead of time before taking drastic decisions on such sensitive economic policy.
“This is not what you do over night because we are unprepared. Shipping is not like going to a market to buy a trailer, it goes beyond that. We are talking about shipping line that will be going across West and Central Africa which we don’t have, and it’s possibility is still in question”, he concluded. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/11/border-closure-ecowas-countries-reject-nigerian-goods/
I stopped reading when I got to where it was claimed dangote cement rejected in Benin Republic. That's a complete lie, Benin has been importing cement from China, they don't buy dangote cement.
