Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerians Confuse Titles With Professions by Novice1(m): 5:52pm On Nov 02, 2012 |
flexyonline: Ignorance on display. A professional engr who has passed COREN exams and is registered is required to use the title (engr) before his name. There is no ignorance here. The professional bodies here in Nigeria just want to make themselves look like cults. Do you find that happening in other countries? Engineering is a profession. Simple. AND there are many other professions out there If engineers must use the Engr title, then Architects, Surveyors, Bricklayers, Painters, Scaffolders, Plumbers, Iron benders, Teachers, Drivers, and even market women should all affix their titles before their names. 1 Like |

Politics / Re: Why Do Nigerians Confuse Titles With Professions by Novice1(m): 3:11pm On Nov 02, 2012 |
it has to do with a complex suffered by Africans in general. If you are sure of your worth, you dont need people to address you with titles to feel important. The quaity of a man's character/training should emanate from his/her interactions with fellow human beings and not from titles. Most people brandishing titles about in Nigeria/africa are actually hollow from the inside. I have seen people in their remedial yr (Law) in d University being called "Barrister" And stark illiterates bestowed "doctorate" titles by our compromised universities. And village chieftaincy titles? thats a free-for-all. Just make a few bucks (by hook or crook) and go back and shower the village head and a few kingmakers, voila! you now have "chief" to add to your titles. It is all in vain. The real achievement is how much you impact other people's lives positively. 4 Likes |

True talk my brother. Imagine somebody like OBJ that was a bull in a china shop whe he ran Nigeria for 8 yrs, still having the effrontery to open his hereditally ugly mouth and speak about politics and strategising for 2015. I wonder what he is still looking for. |

Car Talk / Re: Ten Tips To Survive Without Okada by Novice1(m): 1:37pm On Oct 24, 2012 |
Bicycle all the way!!!! I think we have became too lazy with the availability of okada. Advantages of a bicycle include: ->Near Zero Maintenance ->Thorough workout- you will gradulally see improvement in your health and appearance. ->No parking trouble-you can easily push it into your house and lean it on the wall. ->No fuel money, mechanics will not suck you anymore. ->LASTMA, police, road safety, VIO--- all of them will not give you a second glance. ->No number plate, MOT, sticker, radio tax, or whatever. I think its time for guys to consider Bicyles dealerships and allied businesses 2 Likes |
Politics / Re: Obasanjo, Fashola At Loggerhead Over Seized Vehicle by Novice1(m): 7:59pm On Oct 23, 2012 |
Elueme: Source pls. Stop feeding me with ruse. If it's a gossip news indicate so we know what category of seriousness we attach to the thread. Your statement is freakin' pathetic. Fashola is the CEO and the chief law enforcer of Lagos state. His agents have the right to impound any vehicle driven in contravention of gazetted state laws. Your kind of thinkong is part of what brought Nigeria on its knees: that laws should apply differently to different kinds of people. Let fashola auction the murafucking baboon's vehicle and lets see if heavens will fall. 23 Likes |

Achebe will forever remain my Hero for rejecting the bastardised National Award. That goes a long way to show that he is not an attention-seeking mediocre. His action is the kind of stuff with which great souls are made: reject the glitter and pursue the noble, no matter the consequences. I pray for more Achebes in this country. |

Politics / Re: Why Are Nigerians In Diaspora So Bitter? by Novice1(m): 5:31pm On Oct 05, 2012 |
Dede1: Local champions are always delighted with beer parlor-styled discussion. This goofy thread is no exception. If Nigerians in Diaspora are bitter about the state of affairs in Nigeria, one can easily conclude without malice that the alleged bitterness is drawn from series of conspicuous dead-end behaviors from Nigerians at home. In addition, the so-called Nigerians in Diaspora have grown to appreciate orderly environment stuffed with social decorum. You, sir, have summed it up. One cant escape being angry if you live in a civilised society and look back at our country and waht it has turned to. 2 Likes |
