Thanks for your write up on the above topic. I just want to make the following input: * So many members of these churches are not illiterates and neither are they bereft of logical reasoning as some bloggers assume most often in their comments and contributions to issues concerning the church * Erudite academicians, accomplished lawyers and reputable business personality and enterpreneurs who are rational decision makers form a large nucleus of members of these churches and have a right on how their resources are deployed * Let me quickly add that not all members of these churches are politicians or government or private sector employees that acquire their wealth through dubious/corrupt means * If an individual can own a private/personal car rather than using publicly provided means of transportation, what is the difference in owning a private jet? * Most often we misdirect our energies to churches and leave out government/agencies that are primarily responsible for our well being. * How many of the good deeds and charitable works of these churches are given prominence in our newspapers, rather we have to "mobilize" reporters to feature such events in their newspapers! * Lagos/Ibadan expressway would have remained a forest/den of armed robbers if the churches had not taken the initiatives to open up the area! Punch Newspapers would have taken their Head Office elsewhere not this same axis that was opened up by religious organisations that ventured to "invest members" money in putting up infrastructures in this neglected area ! Just my thoughts. beating around the bush, begging the question and not talking about the issues raised!!! |

Mustay: They were not being "ethical" as they claimed by reporting the irregularities of the company on the public domain. Anyway, it's not new for us to see reporters/journalists talk about the 'bad experiences' they once had but it's a misuse of platform too to announce their resignation to viewers on the platform they paid not for - they must pay for that airtime
They attempted to seek the sympathy of clients they had 'garnered' whilst working with the station - hence, these viewers will follow them to their next base. . . UNETHICAL PRACTICES!
This generation is witnessing different breaches of protocol when it comes to employment contract these days - from announcing resignation on facebook to the twitter scandal that occured recently. . . You sound like a CEO or top mgt of a media house |

Foreign Affairs › Re: Nelson Mandela Banknotes Issued In South Africa by Novice1(m): 8:18pm On Nov 06, 2012 |
nitlad: The first banknotes featuring the face of Nelson Mandela have gone into circulation in South Africa.
They are the first South African notes to bear the image of a black person - they replace notes with wild animals and rural and industrial scenes.
President Jacob Zuma says the banknotes were a "humble gesture" to express South Africa's "deep gratitude".
Mr Mandela, 94, is one of the world's best loved figures after spending 27 years in prison for fighting apartheid.
Reserve Bank governor Gill Marcus was the first to use the new banknotes when she spent 160 rand, about $18 (£12) on some nuts, beetroot, a watermelon and a cucumber at her local shop in the capital, Pretoria.
She said that Mr Mandela was delighted with the design.
She also noted that South Africa tries to update its currency every seven years for security reasons. The new design includes watermarks and a metal strip, while raised printing was added to assist the visually impaired.
Mr Mandela's face is on one side of all the new banknotes, while the "Big Five" animals - lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant - remain on the reverse.
He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his campaign against white minority rule and was elected president the following year before stepping down after a single term.
Known affectionately by his clan name "Madiba", he has now retired from public life. Now, thats the stuff with which statesmen are made |

flexyonline: Ignorance on display. A professional engr who has passed COREN exams and is registered is required to use the title (engr) before his name. There is no ignorance here. The professional bodies here in Nigeria just want to make themselves look like cults. Do you find that happening in other countries? Engineering is a profession. Simple. AND there are many other professions out there If engineers must use the Engr title, then Architects, Surveyors, Bricklayers, Painters, Scaffolders, Plumbers, Iron benders, Teachers, Drivers, and even market women should all affix their titles before their names. |
Politics › Re: CPC On FG/Boko-Haram Using Buhari's Name by Novice1(m): 5:40pm On Nov 02, 2012 |
ballabriggs: Nigerians are not so bright.
If you believe Boko Haram really made that call then you also believe the silly tale of Kabiru Sokoto escaped and was re-arrested.
Look at the history of violence and tell me one that the politicians in power were not involved in. Jonathan knows what is going on. The same way the PDP Governors sponsored criminality and violence in the Niger-delta then is the same thing happening today.
Some say it was freedom fighting, I laugh. I know the genesis of Ateke Tom, Odili and Asari Dokubo. It was state sponsored criminality. The same thing happened when the same people sponsored violence in Onitsha in order to destabilize Peter Obi. The same thing played out in Oyo and Ekiti.
Was Henry Okah saying trash? Was Azazi speaking crap even though he was benefiting from the violence?
When they want it to stop, they will. Till then you all can keep f00ling yourselves. You, Sir, have earned my respect for being objective. |
