If Nigerians know about the Dam in Ethiopia it is OK but it is by no means necessary. What concerns us with faraway East African countries? We don't share culture or history or even future aspirations so why should we be that bothered about what happens in your countries? I have looked up to the dam, yes the dam would be a wonderful project, at least, anything to develop Africa would be celebrated by all Africans, but i wonder why a Kenyan would feel it is mandatory for a Nigerian to know about this.
The dam is to about 6,500 MW capacity.

Nigeria has also been building the Kashimbilla dam in Taraba state which is about 4,000 MW capacity. It is said to be completed by this year, though i've not been hearing about it a while now.
I also heard that Dangote's refinery will be able to generate 12,000 MW of electricity, what do u guys think about this?

Yup. Ethiopia will sell most of the power generated there through the East African Power Pool . There is another series of very very tall dams called the Gibe I,II and III dams on the Omo River in southern ethiopia. A more controversial one because it shall surely dry up Lake Turkana. These shall also be producing alot of MWs and mostly to be sold to Kenya. Kenya - Ethiopia trade will boom in the next 5 years and our major import will be electricity.

I tot Kenya was already focusing on Geo-thermal energy as a Kenyan here said earlier? So, u guys are still waiting for 5 years in order to buy electricity from ET?

Dangote (Africa's richest man) is building the largest singe refinery in the world and the largest in Africa (to be finished next year), in Nigeria and this would create Jobs for almost 1 million people. This is what am more concerned about or at least would be shameful if i knew nothing about.

You may be right about the state of origin thingy. I didn't think of that, but that still doesn't cancel out the fact that the South West has 6 states while the South East has 5. Absolute population of the SW is higher than the SE. Igbos have never argued that they are more populous than Yorubas.
The average state enrolment for the SE is over 11,000 more than that of the SW. That's what will matter more to a statistician.
Moreover, a difference of less than 60,000 more enrolments over 7 years isn't a big deal, you know. Also, never forget that the SE recorded more enrolments in 2012 to 2014. It means that if the analysis had been done for only 5 years starting from 2012 to 2016, the difference might not have been significant.

SE would definitely have a higher average because it has fewer states, hence a higher chance of having more populated states considering that Yoruba and Igbo populations are almost equal.
I think the argument here is not based on states but on Yoruba and Igbo populations. So, the only way out is to add the Southwest plus parts of Kogi and Kwara against the South-east plus parts of Rivers and Delta.

To start with, the South East has only 5 states as against the 6 states of South West. For SE to have 2.59 million compared to 2.65 million enrolments of SW shows that relatively, SE has better enrolment. This is clearly seen in the average for the SE which came to 74,093 candidates for the 7 years compared to 63,017 candidates for the SW. Let me explain it better to you. It means that in the 7 years analysed, an average of 74,093 candidates registered for JAMB in each of the 5 SE states in each year compared to the average of 63,017 candidates in each of the 6 SW states. It means an average of 11,000+ more candidates registered for JAMB in each SE state compared to each SW state.

You may want to tell me that the total number of enrolments is higher in the SW than SE. Even though there are about 60,000 more enrolments in the SW than the SE over the 7 years considered, have you forgotten that the population of the SW is more than the SE? Are you guys not the ones accusing Igbos of running away from the SE to settle in the SW? So despite having a significant proportion of Igbos in all other geopolitical zones, we were still able to pull that figure. I can bet you that 10-20% of the figures you have for all the other geopolitical zones purely consist of Igbos, which means that the absolute number of Igbos in that figure may be nearly 3.5 million over those 7 years.

You are very wrong because first of all, the data was taken based on state of origin and not state of jamb registration. So at the end of the day Jamb registration of south-west origin beats South-east origin.
The number of states make no difference to the yoruba and igbo populations.

And if you want to argue thay Igbos are also found in Delta and Rivers state, remember that Yorubas are also found in Kwara and Kogi states.
At the end of the day, Yoruba origin jamb registration would still be slightly ahead of Igbo origin jamb registration.
Ebonyi state is probably the state dragging Igbos backward.

The Dam is being built in Beni Sanguel region, west Ethiopia. It is 60-70% completed and once it's finished, it will be Africa largest Dam. It will be finished in 2-3 years and will cost us 5 billion Dollars.
