We don't need to have our services in your country to be better than you. Kenyan investments mostly concentrate in East Africa and to some extent, Central and Southern Africa.
West Africa is the most populated sub-region of Africa and she has the largest economy of all the sub-regions of the continent.

So for you to claim how much of big players your country is on the continent, at least your influence should be seen or felt over here.

Still on who get swag pass the giant of Africa
This is how the giant of Africa rolls with swag, not even the west can make us give up our culture like the little indians who have done trade by barter with everything about their culture.
Nigerian men are the definition of swag in Africa.

I'm yet to see other Black African men who are as handsome and well dressed as Nigerian men.

People like TayserMahiri, nairobiwalker, jonraid n mtis can only dream of looking as good as this! In proud African attires.

West Africans are outstanding. They are loud and bright in equal measures. I think this happened because their weakest appendage, the Bantu migrated eastward. grin If the Little Indians had qualified, they would have dressed in suits, hats, boots, mufflers, overcoats, sunglasses and gloves. The funny little characters would have looked like this guy below:
Hahaha this is savage!

The bolded got me laughing hard. Kenyans are really comic characters. They want to look more European than the Europeans.

Else how can proud black african men be proud of celebrating Blanket & tea parties?

TayserMahiri, when is the next blanket and tea party? I know you've probably not drank tea in your house since the last tea party grin

See the way Senegalese also arrived Russia proudly in their native attires just like Nigerians.

Had it been you little Indians white wannabes, you would have dressed in 'Blanket and tea party attires'. grin

West Africans are gonna make Africa proud.
Times like this makes one wonder if East Africans actually exist. Where are they to rep the continent in the worlds number 1 sport?

Nigeria: Power And Politics Of Hausa-Fulani - EDITORIAL (vanguard Nigeria)

A united Nigeria makes meaning to the Hausa-Fulani only when they are in control of the levers of power, writes Adewale Adeoye.

ANYONE who holds the view that the Hausa-Fulani political leaders are not in control of Nigeria s past, present and if possible, the future may need to re-examine their thinking. I also hold the strong view that the Hausa-Fulani leadership is the best organised and the most tactical of all the ruling power blocs in Nigeria, that is the Yoruba and the Igbo and of course, the minorities put together as a disjointed and never united bloc, always being used as puns in the game.
And what is the meaning of this? One single Kikuyu family has ruled Kenya for decades.

We saw how Luos were being bullied, harassed and rigged out in this previous Kenyan election and how disastrous it was.

Kikuyus dominate everything in that your little India after the real Indians.

Hausa-fulanis may have a strong political power in Nigeria, but they are below when it comes to the economy. Since the return to democracy in 1999, they ruled only 6 years.
Entertainment/Media, Education, ICT, Manufacturing, Sports, and every other sector is dominated by other ethnic groups.

Here is from the Facebook page of Strive Musiyiwa( a Zimbabwean telecom entrepreneur) on Nigeria....

The day I discovered the true wealth of Nigeria

__It's not all about oil!

When I first arrived in Nigeria to set up the country's first GSM mobile network, Econet Wireless Nigeria (now Airtel Nigeria), I had to serve as the company's interim CEO for about six months, until we appointed someone substantive. This meant I practically lived in Nigeria for most of that time. It was a remarkable experience, and one which will remain with me all my life. Nigeria is one of the most exciting countries in the world, and could be the next China before the turn of this century.

I just want to share with you one particular incident which led me to that conclusion: As many people know, today Nigeria has over 120m mobile phones users. To imagine that I made the first ever official GSM mobile call in Nigeria on 6th August 2001 seems almost unbelievable...

Our company Econet Wireless Nigeria was in a race with MTN Nigeria, the only other operator at the time, to meet a deadline set by the regulator for 8th of August. We beat the deadline and MTN by two days, and as Interim CEO, I had the privilege to call the regulator to tell him we were "Live"!

What a moment in my life! It's something I'll always cherish. I don't really care whether I own or don't own a mobile operator there today. My success will always be measured in terms of my small contribution in kick starting the largest mobile industry on the African continent, and it is Nigeria.

Several months before the launch deadline, I'd arrived with over 100 engineers and technicians, drawn mostly from Zimbabwe and South Africa. At the time, since Nigeria had been delayed by the military governments from acquiring GSM, it was one of the last markets without this new technology. President Obasanjo, who had just won the election two years earlier, wanted to change that and had issued three licenses, but one had been delayed.

This meant that when we started operations, Nigeria had no homegrown engineers or technicians with experience in GSM mobile technology. (Today it has more than Southern Africa combined!)

So whilst setting up the network to meet the deadline, we used expatriates from other African countries that already had GSM. We also began the process of recruiting Nigerian engineers and technicians who we would retrain for this exciting new industry to take over from the expatriate team, which wanted to do in the shortest time possible.

We had literally thousands of posts to fill.

In one instance, we placed newspaper adverts in all leading newspapers asking for people qualified in electronic engineering, at degree level, and with minimum five years relevant experience. I'll never forget the response. I came into the office to find sacks piled up to the ceiling full of applications!

"I only want to see the applications from people who meet our requirements, and not from chancers who aren't qualified," I complained.

"Sir, these are the ones we have vetted."

"What?! You mean there were more than this?"

"Thousands, sir."

Then I came up with an idea: "Why don't you separate for me, the most qualified academically. Set aside people with MBAs, and even PHDs."

A day later, a sack was delivered to my office. I was staggered!

There were thousands of people with qualifications in just this one discipline with MBAs and PHDs! Many had qualified in the best universities around the world. There were also GSM-qualified Nigerians working internationally, including in America and Europe, wanting to return home!

I was blown away by the qualifications. I thought to myself: "You can start almost any business or industry here. I wish investors would one day discover the wealth of this nation."

Whenever I hear people talk about the wealth of Nigeria in terms of oil, I shake my head to say: "You have no idea what you're talking about!"

The true wealth of Nigeria is its extraordinary human capital, and passion for education. Unleash that and no one can stop them!

Taysermahiri, rvp2018, this is what I'm talking about. The system in Nigeria wasn't working, and the educational sector had nothing to write home about, there was a repressive military Government, but that didn't stop the Nigerians who loved education from going all around the world to get educated, and so when the opportunity came there were thousands of qualified people to take over the telecoms sector, if this wasn't the case maybe foreigners would be the ones dominating those jobs from that time, but there was no chance for that right from the beginning.
Honestly, this post made me feel so emotional.

God will never forgive these military dictators who destroyed Nigeria and took us decades backwards. Otherwise we would have not been insulted by Kenyans here.

No group of humans deserve to be ruled by a military dictator.
It's amazing that Nigeria still exists after all these years of military rule.

Early entrants into any business always earn the highest benefits in terms of market share if only they manage to support their early mover advantage. Its that simple. Indians (and whites) were doing big business for years all the while Africans were in concentration camps. Dont forget we didnt have oil or gold, the sort of things that can create overnight billionaires to venture into highly capital intensive sectors like manufacturing.

l never claimed we were awesome at independence, infact we were about 90-95% illiterates at independence. Even if at that time the whites begin to dominate our businesses, Nigerians would not just sit idle for so long and allow only foreigners eat the good of the land claiming them as the 44th tribe or such nonsense gibberish, rather Nigerians would struggle to be at the top too by hook or crook, that's the difference.
For example MTN still dominates, but at least we are happy there is indigenous globacom too, at a time Lafrage dominated cement industry in Nigeria, now it's Dangote. We are looking for an alternative to Dstv as well. The top twenty richest men in Nigeria are black Nigerians despite the fact that lndians here are also doing well, etc.
Succinctly put. Full stop!

So many Nigerians are unhappy about Dstv and shoprite dominating Nigerian market, but very soon we will put a great challenge to it.

This is why we are telling you it's not reasonable comparing Kenya ( with this kind of history you just narrated now) to Nigeria. indigenous Africans didn't have the skill in manufacturing because they were largely illiterates compared to the lndians and others , but now at least education is almost widespread, the Kenyans should be competitive enough to begin to dominate manufacturing and not leave everything to the lndians. At least you are smart enough to identify the problem, the rvp2018 of a guy would rather mask his shame by claiming the lndians are a so called 44th tribe.
If you are waiting for Black Kenyans to dominate the manufacturing sector of Kenya, you would wait forever.
It is beyond their reach. They can never do that.

The wealth of industries is exclusive to Indians who are the first class citizens of Kenya. It will never change anytime soon.
Second class citizens like TayserMahiri know the problem exists and hope one day they could fight it.

While 3rd class citizens like rvp2018 have accepted their fate and decided to lay claim to these Indians as their kit and kin. Pathetic.

Kenya FMCG have their own brands and also manufacture brands of leading companies - on contract - they don't go to china - get counterfeit substandard products & re-package it - and claim to manufacture them like most of Nigerian conmen "industrialist" do.

Haco Industries is a manufacturer of consumer products. The company has a strong product portfolio of international and local brands, including Societe Bic, (Ballpoint pens, shaving instruments, high profile pens), Alberto-Culver, USA (TCB, Motions, St. Ives), Imperial Dax, USA (Dax Pomade, Lanolin, Kocatah), E.T Browne Inc., USA (Palmers) and Jeyes, UK.

Haco industries was bought recently by Tiger Brands of South Africa --- and it's very likely whenever rich Nigerians buy from Shoprite - they are buying made in Kenya good. The nigerian "middle class" apparently shop in their kiosk.
So, do Kenyan business men lack ingenuity to the extent that all they do is reproduce American products?

This doesn't make any sense to me. Nigerians take pride in our own products which was started from the scratch by our own business men and not the reproduction of American businesses. That is thrash!

If I had not caught you and exposed you here now, you would have not brought out this long epistle to explain that all you guys do is reproduce American businesses.

Shame!

Mind you, Nigeria's middleclass and even many low income Nigerians have upgraded to online shopping and left you Kenyans stuck in the era of malls which began about a century ago.
You guys should join the train of the 21st century and make Jumia (the Nigerian owned no 1 online shop in Kenya and the entire Africa richer) grin

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has attributed the excessive quest by Nigerian youths to engage in illegal migration to poverty and unemployment.

The Emir made the remark on Thursday in Kano when the President and members of Pan African Institute for Global Affairs and Strategy (PAIGAS) paid him a courtesy visit.
Yet his own Hausa fulani people who are a stone throw away from the desert and are the poorest people in Nigeria still do not make this dangerous journey.

Sounds complicated.Basically all those regions you describe exist "nowhere" - officially Nigeria is divided into 36 states.. It's more accurate to divide Nigeria first by religion - muslim north & christian south. Then by 3 tribes - Igbo & related (christian - South East -Biafra- Oil), Yoruba & related (mixed -muslims & christian - South West - Lagos), Hausa & related (muslim -north - Abuja-KANO - Boko-haram - fulani cattle herders).
Ok, suit yourself in your delusion. I am telling you about the true divisions in my country and you are telling me nonsense here.
Abuja is not in a muslim dominated area. Most of the indigenous people of Abuja are christians and they are not Hausa people. They even had a fierce clash with Hausas not too long ago.

You cannot divide Nigeria into religions because there are tens of millions of muslims in the south and tens of millions of christians in the north.
Boko haram is a north-eastern problem, they hardly reach Kano (north-west). Boko haram members are not even Hausas by tribe. They are predominantly Kanuri by tribe.
Only like 5% or even less of Boko haram attacks reach Hausa land.

You can see how much you think you know something but you know nothing?

There are about 25 million Southern ethnic minorities who are neither Igbos nor Yorubas and do not want to be associated with either.

Stick to your Kenyan county classifications if you know you are not interested in learning about Nigeria's geography but arguing rubbish.

I have been to the core north and I know they can pull themselves out of poverty when they are ready. They've got this massive agricultural potential that if hinged to agro-allied industries can really help them. And like you rightly pointed out they need to do something about the kind of culture which limits them and pulls down the rest of Nigeria statistically. They need to embrace modernity.
Sometimes, you just don't understand these core-northernerns and their ways.
Do you know that some of them you see on the streets looking poor are actually millionaires? I was shocked the day I was at an ATM queue and one of them who looks like a typical Mai ruwa came to check his account balance and it was running in the millions. I thought I was the only one who has experienced this, until I heard many other people saying something similar at different times.

Their problem is just lack of western education and this highly class-based society of theirs. Apart from farming, these people are also very good traders!
Do you know how much they make in sales for foodstuffs they transport down to the south to sell?

We middlebelters tend to be poor in trading skills. These core-northerners come to buy our farm products from the village markets very cheap and transport them elsewhere and make huge profits from the labour of our people.

Here's the reason why they hardly leave poverty. 2 poor rural northern youths, one from the middlebelt and the other from the core-north make it to the city and make their first 200k.
The core-northerner would rather prefer to go and marry a new wife and give birth to more children while the middlebelter who would have obviously finished secondary school before he left for the city would go back to his place to further his education or re-invest that money into something else to make more money. Marriage would definitely come later.

They just have this belief that some people were destined to be rich while others were destined to be poor. And if you were born amongst the latter, don't try to fight your poverty, just continue therein and pass it to the next generation.

Many core-northern leaders are now giving preference to western education, so let's see how it plays out for them.

Unfortunately for you nobody really bother to dig out where these desperate Nigerians emanate from - north north or south south smiley those Nigeria terms really tickle me every time I hear. Now you're going to tell you're come from middle of middle of middle belt - which also happen to be in middle of northern - which also is Nigeria north?
Nigeria is divided into basically 6 regions by geo-political zones. 3 to the south and 3 to the north.
These dividing lines have a lot of cultural differences and differences in reasoning/outlook to life.

I won't talk about the 3 divisions of the south.

However, for the north, we have the North-west (also known as the core-north and this is dominated by the Hausas and Hausanized fulanis, they are overwhelmingly muslim in population and extremists muslims too) .

The North-central (also known as Middlebelt region) is dominated by minority ethnic groups who are predominantly Christians and liberal predominantly educated muslims. This is the region I am from.

The last region the North-east region is like a hybrid region between the north-west and middlebelt. Divided between Hausa-fulanis, christian and muslim minorities, both extremist and liberal muslims.

Sometimes the north-central (middlebelt) is not regarded as northern Nigeria. It is regarded as central Nigeria, but when we go back to colonial identities of the old northern/southern protectorate divisions, it falls under northern Nigeria.

That is most whack theory I ever heard. Northern Nigeria are basically mostly illiterate muslim cattle herders - who probably have not yet heard of Europe - perhaps Mecca in Saudi Arabia is where they are emigrating. South Nigerians are emigrating because Nigeria is a shit-hole and they know it. Northern Nigeria after many decade of boko-haram don't know anything except koran and cattle herding.
Can't you see how wrong you are?

The middlebelt part and north-eastern part of northern Nigeria has a huge christian population.

At least 30% of Northern Nigerians are christians. Another 20% of Northern Nigerians are very liberal and educated muslims. That makes about 50% of the population and about 50 million people.
These 50 million predominantly educated northernerns have literacy rates close to that of the south, of which I am one of them, yet we still do not migrate out of Nigeria through the deserts.

The middlebelt part of northern Nigeria with over 30 million people is predominantly literate, yet we still do not migrate out of Nigeria.

There are many cities and infrastructures in northern Nigeria, so your point holds no water but only reeks of stupidity.

I have told you before that these Little Indians only see things in black and white. It can never be clear to them that those who migrate do so not because they are dirt poor but because they are mostly malcontents. Take for example, a Nigerian who could raise 500,000 naira to travel to Libya. Meanwhile that amount is over a $1000 and could start a small business in Nigeria. Dirt poor people can't raise that amount.
Thank you.

The problem with many southern Nigerians is greed. Take that 500,000 naira for instance. If that money was in the hands of a typical middlebelter, he would use that money to go into agriculture and with the proceeds, he would be able to afford a decent life considering the cheaper cost of living in the north.

Can't you see how rapidly we middlebelters are coming out of poverty compared to the core-north? Without emigration and other dangerous activities embarked on by southernerns, yet our poverty rates still reduce.

The problem with the core-north is just their culture, otherwise their own poverty rates would also reduce like ours.

It's pathetic. This is why Nairobi can never compare Abuja or even Lagos.
Decent housing is a luxury in Kenyan cities available to only the rich and foreigners.

The majority of northern Nigerians are poor while the majority of southern Nigerians are not poor
YET
90% of the people who leave Nigeria are Southern Nigerians. What part of this is difficult for your brain to grasp?
If migration was based on poverty alone, then we northernerns would have been leaving Nigeria far more than the southernerns, yet the reverse is the case here.

Why is it that Abuja always looks Empty and boring?

Thou the area is beautiful with good infrastructure.
Abuja was not created to be a congested place. It has a very good plan and structure to combat congestion.

It's Municipality currently has about 2 million people, it's urban area currently has about 4 million people.

I never heard of Kenyans on a boat trying to go to Europe? Have you? Nigerians should stay in Nigeria and try to build their country! They think they are better than SA yet they go there in droves. We have a lot of them in Kenya. Some of them are UNIVERSITY Students. Why would a Nigerian study in a trash country like Kenya?

The majority of immigrant are from - guess - Eritrea, Ghana, Nigeria and Sudan!

And it's a daily occurrence - they rather die crossing the Mediterranean - than suffer in the giant mess that is Nigeria.
sHOTdownHawk:
There is a ship with bout 600 nigerians stranded in the middle of mediterranean sea. The italians with their nazi-gov have said they dont mind if the die there, so is malta. Hopefully they send food and water. If they let them die, then the new world order begins where africans are trash to let die like bugs.

NIGERIA, GIANT OF AFRICA, SAVE YOUR OWN PEOPLE.
One thing you people do not understand is that migration has a lot to do with the culture of contentment.

Look at the Latin Americans, they have better economic and livelihood standards than most African countries, yet they are still ready to die to cross over to the USA by any means possible.

Migration is not based on poverty alone, if it was, then Northern Nigerians would have been leaving Nigeria more than the Southerners, but as it currently stands, 90% of the people who leave Nigeria through the desert & sea are Southern Nigerians.

This is simply because the northerners tend to have a culture of contentment. While Southern Nigerians have this mentality of get rich or die trying.

So it is not just based on poverty alone.

Kenyans may be damn poor, but if they have a strong culture of contentment, they still wouldn't want to take the risks of illegal migration.

Southern Nigerians have to take 2 days journeys before they get to the extreme north of Nigeria and cross over into Niger republic, while Northern Nigerians who are few hours away from Niger republic still do not cross over to take that risky journey.. What does that tell you guys?

No mind these Kenyans sha... Abuja is already one of the most beautiful cities in Africa and it's just getting started... Imagine 30 years from now
The problem with Kenyans is that they think that the beauty of a city lies with the number of highrises it has.

How can anyone take a place like Nairobi serious when there are slums and concentration camp houses in every corner of the city?

Most European cities do not have any highrises, yet they are still ranked as the most beautiful in the world.

Thank you for doing justice to Abuja. Abuja is too neat, well planned and structured to compare Nairobi.

Take a look at the kind of low income houses that litter the length and breadth of the Nairobi! Yet they are so expensive.
Mind you, these are not even the slums oh.
Thousands of people living in one building, and they want to compare Nairobi to Abuja?
