emekaxy: I remember blasting and abusing FCMB interviewers when I was searching for job in PH. After going thru the stress of writing their test, I passed and when I came for the interview the rumour was that the take home pay is 25k, when it's my turn I asked them to confirm and they said is 25k.
Only God know wetin happen that day, I shouted at them coursed and abused them and tell them what they are doing is modern slavery and modern ritual (ogwu ego) they tried to calm me down but I refused when I finished raking I collected my cv tore it in their front and pour it on their table and left. Other people that came for same interview started complaining about my actions but I left the place and was pleased with my action.
That was in 2010, this is 2015 and they are still being paid 25k. Chai Nothing changed in 5yrs! |

No Nigerian has beaten his record since then! Late Pa Achebe, his books, thoughts, ideology still resonates amongst us, produced Chimamanda Adechie, you know the rest of the story! We all know how biafra war slowed the igbos down financially, the yorubas on the other hand had a head-start, that's why you see more yorubas abroad than any other tribe! but guess what? it's all for sustenance. There is a difference btw you being the CEO of JP Morgan and Chase and you being a Prof of Economics at Havard, that propounded a theory that saved a nation from its economic woes! They are both powerful people! but one makes revolutionary changes, the other..hmmm just declares profit for the bank each year. That's the analogy here! For everyone one igbo genius, there are 100 yoruba regular workers trying to make ends meet in the streets of London, manhattan or in toronto! My bro no be quantity na quality! Another young igbo internet guru from harvard sold a web app to one of these computer giants for some million dollars. Igbos are known to produce "exceptional breeds" the earlier we start accepting that, the better for us as a Nation! I am particularly amazed at the prowess of the igbo race everywhere you go in the country! No nation thrives without a robust manufacturing sector, and that's another area where we will need the igbos! Shey you read that igbos have started manufacturing cars in Nigeria...am sure you've read that here on NL! Make you dey thr dey talk about yorubas wey dey work for HSBC, barclays, whats legendary about that! . Rubbish! I calmly gave her the money and ATM card and salivated out of the event venue with a teardrop on my chin, I later found out she ate mine, I didn't talk to her for 1whole week. Buh we've reconciled. talentarena: The booby traps before Buhari – Olisa Agbakoba.
CORRUPTION-
The second most important issue Buhari must pay attention to is corruption. All governments of Nigeria have paid lip-service to the issue of corruption. Buhari has now presented himself as a person and he has gotten a groundswell of support from Nigerians across the divides to tackle corruption. So, he has to be held to account for all the political promises he made. He should deal with the unconstitutional salaries of the National Assembly members. The Revenue Fiscal Mobilization and Allocation Commission (RFMAC) sets salaries, but the National Assembly refused to follow it. The money Nigerian lawmakers get constitutes about 25 percent of our national budget. Why won’t Nigerians want to go to the National Assembly if, as a member of the House of Representatives, I can get about N600 million, on the average, in a year? The lawmakers in the Senate get as much as N1 billion per annum; that’s why they kill themselves to go there. So, the lawmaker’s interest is not to go and make or pass laws, but because of the money that is there. That is also why they perform below average. I see this development as a corrupt practice and that is another most important thing Buhari must confront. The National Assembly must be brought to book. They must be made to conform with the constitution. It’s a big shame that the lawmakers are the ones that break the constitution and pay themselves the stupendous salaries they take home. I put this as a litmus test to Buhari. If he is able to tackle this issue of bringing the National Assembly within the lawful pay structure of Nigeria, I will clap for him. Then, of course, the profligate lifestyle of the average Nigerian politician has to go. Ten aircraft in the presidential fleet, when we have no national carrier?
http://talentarenaafrica.com/2015/05/02/the-booby-traps-before-buhari-olisa-agbakoba/ Chei!!! N1 billion naira X total number of senators N600 million X total number of honourables Do the maths and get the total amount spent on all parliamentary members in a year! multiply by 4...for one term Haba isnt this demonic! |

helovesme: thanks for your response.
you are right - my main challenge is getting my husband involved. i am not sure he has the time or patience to study/sit for the IELTS exam. I will speak to him about it though. thanks again.
I have another question please. i have two transcripts - one from a Nigerian university while the other from a uk university. Can i send both together from my base abroad? Or should I have the Nigerian transcript sent by my relative from Nigeria to WES? Though where you are sending it from doesn't really matter, i sent my nigerian transcript from the Portsmouth, however since both transcripts are from different schools, it's just logical to send them separately even if you have both of them at hand. So allow your relative dhl your Nigerian transcript to WES ofcos with your ECA Number clearly written on the package. While you can send the UK transcript from your base, ECA Number also written on it. As long as you have both education details on the application form you filled online, they will treat them accordingly. |

pls to get the maximum points, is it best i apply as a single lady or married? Highest qualification is a Masters degree
i am married but all my passports and documents still have my maiden name. Thats a tough one! Yes applying single has lots of advantage ofcos as you can see from the points disparity. However, I guess what i have seen from the points allocation, as couples you can maximize your points if both of you get involved in the process. Meaning, your husband must be willing to do IELTS, have his documents verified, his work experience, level of education etc will count as points towards your overall point. That's the challenge, getting your spouse involved! especially when he gets a good IELTS Score, that counts as points too. if your husband is committed to it, you would be better of applying as married! because if all this falls through, you don't have to go through the stress of applying for PR for your spouse again! So you might think of it in the long term. In that case a change of name on your passport should be your next important move- i think that's done in abuja. Conversely, if you are not sure of his involvement and both of you consent for you to apply as single, then way to go! less stress but it might just get complicated much later when you want to file for him. I'm not sure if my answer is thorough enough, Please if there is anyone in the house with similar experience pls your contribution is highly welcomed. BTW I'm still single, not so qualified to address this issue! |
