How many Nigerians has the passion to run a club ?
Without Government support we won't have clubs in Nigeria. Most of our successful clubs are owned and run by government.

This isn't a good news at this moment, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) defending champions, Kano Pillars were attacked on their way to honor their league opener in Owerri.

SL10.ng put a call through to the media manager of Kano Pillars,Idris Malikawa and sounded very low, he said some of the players were shot.

"Yes it's true that the players were attacked at Abaji, some players were shot. Gambo Mohammed, Otekpa and a few others were shot. They are currently at a hospital in Lokoja,"Malikawa informed SL10.ng.

We (sl10.ng) shall confirm the names of the players and the current state of the players who are in the hospital.

Kano Pillars were to be the guest of Heartland at the Dan Anyim stadium in a week fixture of the NPFL 2013/2015.

SL10.ng just spoke to one of Kano Pillars players, Isaac Loute, and he informed that the team was attacked and some of the players were shot, but as we speak they are at a Federal hospital in Kogi State.

"We were attacked by armed robbers, they shot playin the hand, and some were hit on the head," Isaac Loute told SL10.ng on phone.

"Gambo Mohammed, Otekpa Energy, Ekpai Ubong, Rubuen Ogbonaya who just joined Pillars from El-Kanemi Warriors, and then Muritala were all hit by bullets. Right now we are at the Federal hospital in Kogi,"Loute said.

Very sad, especially at this time of the league kick-off.

Yes,I get very irritated when Obi is compared to a rabble rouser like Okorocha because they are not even close.

Abagworo:

Nnaa ibudikwanu mugu? Someone that built the largest shopping mall in Abuja as a serving Governor.

Obi was already a wealthy business man with countless properties scattered around Nigeria before he became a governor. Now,what his organization does with their finance shouldn't be your concern. The man was from a wealthy family and went into importation of goods soon as he graduated. Obi never worked for anybody....He was a complete "Chimeleze". I know the man because his sister was a family friend.

Okorocha on the other hand got rich from government contracts he got from his hausa masters. Do not compare Obi to Okorocha because its a complete insult. All the big weights in eastern politics pay homage to Obi,thats how powerful he is. The man is silent but very powerful and well respected, even by Obi Achebe and Akpokuedike himself.

People’s Elephant captain says team out to reclaim league title

Enyimba captain, Chinedu Udoji has boasted the People’s Elephant can’t afford to play second fiddle again in the domestic Glo Premier League title race.

“In the last two seasons, we’ve ended finishing second and this time around, I believe wecan get our hands back on the trophy”, Udoji said.

He added: “We have had some some fresh stars joining us and I can say we’re now strongerand motivated like in the past so we cannot be happier than lifting the trophy this time around.”

Kano Pillars won the trophy in the immediate past three seasons. And the People’s Elephant have beefed up the squad with the arrival of Abia Warriors duo, Peter Onyekachi and Uluocha.

“I think players spirit has gone back up, we’re determined and want to give our all, the management too are alive to their own roles so what happened in the past two seasons won’t happen again.

“Sure, we can fight to reclaim the trophy and we’re looking forward to a successful campaign.”

Enyimba will welcome Akwa United in the opening fixture of the 2014/2015 season at the Aba Stadium on March 7, 2015.

Abagworo:
Peter Obi claimed Okorocha borrowed money and that standard of education has dropped under Okorocha. These are unsubstantiated and based on doctored data and media manipulations. He has no right to tell such lies in the open.

Stop mentioning Peter Obi and Okorocha in the same sentence just to give Okorocha some undue integrity. They belong different class; Okorocha can never stand next to Obi. Obi will never mention Okorocha's name because they are not equal. Stop comparing them because they are not near equal. What Obi achieved in Anambra will take Okorocha another life on earth to attempt it.

Obiano Inaugurates New Board for Anambra Broadcasting Service

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has inaugurated a new Board of Directors for the come-backing Anambra State Broadcasting Service, ABS, which marks its 30th Anniversary with a public lecture on Wednesday March 4, 2015.

The seven-man Board is headed by Mr. Emeka Maduegbuna, a veteran broadcaster and PR guru who is also the Chairman of frontline Lagos Public Relations firm, Corporate & Financial Porta Novelli. The new Board is expected to lay down the policies for effective running, planning and development of Anambra Broadcasting Service, manage all the business, keep and preserve all the property of the service and exercise all the functions of the service under section 5 of the law which established the broadcasting service.

Inaugurating the Board, Tuesday at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Governor Obiano charged the members to raise the standards of the broadcasting house to rival CNN. “I challenge you to strive for CNN standard. I want you to improve ABS. I want ABS to be like CNN. I don’t want to compare ABS to any other local broadcasting house,” the governor enthused.

According to him, his administration has invested the sum of N1.5bn so far in a bold effort to turn around the station which has been rundown for years after being neglected by successive administrations.

“The equipment we have on the ground now gives us a great advantage. So, I want ABS to be in the front row in terms of content, in terms of reach and in terms of programming. I want ABS to be the most watched TV station in the South East,” he further declared.

The governor also applauded the members of the Board for their individual accomplishments in different spheres of life that pre-qualified them to be appointed to serve their home state, specifically acknowledging the Chairman Mr. Emeka Maduegbuna for his long standing achievements in the media industry which have stood him out over the years.

He expressed the hope that with their individual and collective commitments, the resurgent broadcasting group would soon find a comfortable footing in the market place.

Responding on behalf of other members of the Board, the Chairman, Mr. Maduegbuna assured the governor that they were fully aware of the level of confidence which their appointment onto the board had imposed on them and that they would do their utmost best to deliver on the expectations of Ndi Anambra.

“I think we have a date with history with regards to revamping and repositioning ABS. ours is to make that dream come true and I believe that we will get down to work . We will not disappoint you,” Mr Maduegbuna assured.

Enyimba stop Buffles again
by Staff Reporter

Sunday Mar 01, 2015. 19:38

Nigeria’s Enyimba pipped Buffles du Borgu 1-0 in the second leg of a CAF Champions League Preliminary round tie on Sunday in Cotonou.

The Aba club thus go through to the first round on a 4-0 aggregate having won the first leg in Aba 3-0.

Enyimba will now face Egyptian team Smouha in the next stage of the competition.

Smouha defeated Ahli Tripoli 5-3 on penalties after they won the second leg 1-0, same margin they lost the first leg.

Substitute Andrew Abalogu scored the only goal of the game in the 58th minute.

Enyimba could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Kingsley Sokari shot wide from a promising position.

Three minutes later, it was the turn of Buffles as Adjai Moussa came close to get a goal.

In the 21st minute, Ezekiel Bassey failed to score for Enyimba.

The missing game continued as Enyimba were playing better.

In the 44th minute, Enyimba goalkeeper Chijioke Ejiogu was called to save a shot by Mama Seibou.

Fresh from doubling the monthly figure of the state’s Internally Generated Revenue of N500m which he inherited from his predecessor to N1.1bn, the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has set himself a new revenue target of N3.3 billion per month.

Chief Willie Obiano, Governor of Anambra State and Mr. Okey Moka, Chairman and CEO of Anambra State Board of Internal Revenue during the inauguration of the Revenue House, Awka.
Governor Obiano who set the new target while commissioning the State Internal Revenue Service Headquarters called ‘’Revenue House’’ at Agu-Awka, also emphasized the imperatives of efficient revenue generation to enable government meet its obligations to the people and sustain the tempo of development across the State, especially with the dwindling Federal Allocation resulting from falling global oil prices.

I met average revenue of about N500m monthly when we took over about 11 months ago.
But we have been able to move it to about N1.1bn. But this is a far cry from where we should be. For us to be more comfortable in what we are doing, we should be generating not less than N3.3bn monthly. That’s why every hand must be on deck.”

The governor recalled that when he took over the reins of leadership in the state, the price of crude oil was still very high in the international market pointing out that the current fall in oil prices meant that his administration would have to seek very creative ways of meeting the revenue needs of the state.

“So, to be able to sustain the work we are doing, we need to rev up our Internally Generated Revenue. That’s why we are paying attention to anything that will help us increase our revenue.”

The governor assured staff of the Revenue Board that government would provide them with the required logistics to carry out their duties efficiently including vehicles and adequate security while government was equally working on 32 offices of the Board to provide conducive working environment.

He assured that measures had been put in place to plug all revenue leakages by ensuring all taxes were paid into banks. He noted that they would be given specific targets and would be rewarded according to performance and explained that the State government had streamlined taxes collected by the State government and those of the local government
councils to avoid duplication or multiple taxation.

Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Anambra State Internal Revenue Service, Sir Okey Moka thanked the governor for his proactive disposition in ensuring that the facility was completed and assured that the workforce would work hard to boost the State IGR to enviable level.

Sir Moka also urged income earners to pay their taxes promptly and regularly as their civic responsibility and law abiding citizens, and made it clear that the Board was poised to enforce the relevant tax laws within its jurisdiction to reduce the incidence of tax avoidance and evasion.

Uduokrika addresses some issue I raised about Gabros Fc.

Ichie OdenigboAroli greetings to you. On the issues you raised i'll like to tell you that from what i have seen about this team there is hope for us in the coming league season starting from our home match March 7, against warri wolves. However, it will interest you to note that big names don't play football in the Nigerian league rather bid clubs in Nigeria league make an average player look like a big player. E.g Abia warrior's Oyekachi Peter was in the NNL with Gabros last two season yet Gabros' Michael Ohamu outscored him though they got promoted to the premiership where he dazzled and today he is a big player just because he moved to Enyimba.

What about Kano Pillars' Christian Obiozor? who will believe he played here in Onitsha alongside Ugochukwu Uzonna and Uche Nwofor for our own relegated Anambra pillars before they moved to Rangers and today the rest is history Uzonna now plays for Chippa United in SA and Nwofor VVV Venlo in Holland and now Lierse SK in Poland. Back to Obiozor today he is a house hold name in kano (almost every fan's jersey in kano bears his name) even before the league kick starts already had 8goals to his credit for Kano pillars during super 6, Ghana tour and a goal in the champions league. Mind you most of these Gabros players were also former Anambra Pillars Players.

Giwa Fc will be our major case study, they won the Group A table of the NNL last two season to play in the league last season, they also won the NNL super 4 in Abuja last season with no Known name. Today if not that Dolphins played in 2014 FA cup finals, Giwa Fc would have been flying Nigeria's flag in the continent because they ended the season on fourth position and also lost to Enyimba at the FA cup semi finals!! Even till now no known player from Giwa apart from the goal keeper OLORUNLEKE OJO who currently has benched Alampasu Dele in the Flying eagles team.

Now back to Gabros FC, If you have watched them play you will agree with me the team is built as a team not around some key individuals on whose shoulders the entire burden dwells e.g If Kano Pillars play a game without Ezekiel Mba, Rabiu Ali, GAmbo Mohammed & Obiozor come and see them loose woefully!! same with Enyimba with the likes of Sokari Kingsley, Nzube Anaezemba, Rasheed Olabiyi and Udoh we saw that almost happened in the last FA cup final where coach Kadiri Ikhana started the match without Olabiyi and Anaezemba if not luck and sheer desperadoo from Goalkeeper Femi Thomas Enyimba will have been down by 4 goals in the first half, but then we saw how the table upturned immediately these two midfield menstro were introduced into the match.

So i'll prefer a team that play together, and stay together irrespective of the BIG NAME syndrome.

This was what a Journalist and a football Analyst have to say about GABROS after the super 4 tournament "............................ the high level of confidence i mentioned is what won the 1st game for them. Gabros has done the same over highly rated 3SC as they took the Oluyole Warriors into the cleaners, the Ifeayi Uba boys are just but classical. Very skillful side, mobile and calculative one touch passes which makes them dangerous on counter attacks, watch-out for them..................." (Adedeji Oluseyi Sbj Malawi)

The two goals scored by Gabros were from counter attacks and in football it takes a very highly and tactical side to achieve this fit!!
