Chiwude: I asked about Orlu for a specific reason because I know for sure some part of Anambra that borders Orlu didn't use "Olisa",prior to the coming of Europeans. So,Olisa is foreign to Orlu and the Ideator or Orsu that you quickly pointed out were influenced by Ogbaru people. |

Ihuomadinihu: The popularity of Onicha axis Igbo will make that possible to happen. You can't intentionally speak a dialect nobody will understand when you clearly have a choice to switch. You might wanna ask what popularity than I would refer you to old Catholics literatures that spread the Onicha axis Igbo to all parts of Igbo land. |

I don't really care about what is spoken in Sountern Igbo land because I am not from there, yet I wouldn't like a situation whereby Anambra dialect is being corrupted by the influence of Igbo Izugbe or whatever the crap they call it. I know the structure of Igbo Izugbe is based on the Onicha/Idenmili axis but the pronunciation of the words represents what is spoken in southern Igbo land. And that is very dangerous! 1 Like |

In Anambra State the event afforded farmers an opportunity to showcase the type of farm produce they are known for. Speaking at the event, Governor Obiano re-iterated that Agriculture as his number one pillar has received and will continue to receive undivided attention, calling on farmers to embrace agriculture as the fastest means of grooming the state’s economy. He announced that Anambra state had generated one hundred and ninety thousand metric tons of rice under one and half years as against eighty thousand metric tons generated previously and will by the end of next year complete the three hundred and twenty metric tons required to feed the state. Governor Obiano announced that he would by next season inaugurate the proposed football-field-like fish pond that will commence in all the council areas which will be managed by fifty youths each. He disclosed that the first batch of the two hundred and fifty youths trained in agriculture have graduated while the second batch are still undergoing training and will be given seed money each to start off. The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has intensified efforts to end the housing challenges of the state with the signing of an MoU that would ensure the construction of 10,000 units of housing in the state. The project which involves a partnership with Affordable Building Concepts International Limited is estimated to be valued at $476.1m (N95.2bn) will occupy 200 hectars of land spread across five different locations in the state. Signing the MoU in Awka on Monday, Governor Obiano expressed optimism that the project would bring a huge relief to Ndi Anambra, especially civil servants who he said had been coming to work in Awka from Enugu and Asaba. “This is the third MoU we are signing on housing. We hope that all these will go a long way in ameliorating the challenges we are having in the housing sector, especially for civil servants. Now that we have provided security people who are living in Asaba or Enugu will begin to relocate to Anambra State,” Governor Obiano maintained. Throwing more light on the project, the Chairman of Anambra State investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA), Igwe Cyril Enweze explained that it seeks to promote urban development and modernization, provide relatively affordable housing for the people as well as attract revenue through the state’s share of the profits. Pointing out that the initiative was in line with Obiano’s economic objectives for housing and rapid infrastructural development of the state, Igwe Enweze expressed optimism that the project would provide a facelift to the capital city and drive the urbanization of its host communities. “The project will generate 1500 direct jobs during the construction phase as well as about 6500 indirect employment opportunities of which 75 per cent will be dedicated to Ndi Anambra. Thus, the local artisans and people in the host communities will be engaged as labour and in other capacities, especially during the construction phase of the project,” Igwe Enweze further explained. In a very brief remark, Tony Duncan, Affordable Building Concepts’ International Director of Sales for Middle East and West Africa expressed the optimism that the company would have a long term relationship with Anambra State. “I am going to be the man on the ground here. I’m coming to live in Nigeria. I’ll work hand in hand with your engineers and architects,” he explained. 2 Likes 1 Share |

The governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano showed why he is a leader to watch with a riveting performance at the Governors Session of the on-going Nigerian Economic Summit, drawing intermittent applause and positive comments from a cross section of the audience who were unanimous in adjudging him the star performer of the session. Governor Obiano won the audience over with a masterful account of his strategic approach to governance, showing a clearly defined model of development that explores the human and material endowments of the state in a comprehensive, verifiable and sustainable manner. The governor’s deft application of private sector best practices that emphasize the imperatives of clearly distilled Vision and Mission Statements in the achievement of group and organizational goals as well as his exploits in securing the lives and property of Ndi Anambra stood him out at the summit as a leader of note. A thunderous applause resounded through the hall when governor Obiano declared that Anambra was the safest state in Nigeria following his administration’s crackdown on all manner of criminal elements in the state in the past eighteen months. The governor’s narrative of his exploits in Agriculture, investment drive, education, infrastructural development and efforts at regional integration resonated with the audience who saw in his presentation the beginnings of a promising future for the people of Anambra State. Obiano’s performance became even more outstanding when contrasted with the performance of some of his colleagues during the session whose performance seemed out of sync with the expected mood of such a serious economic gathering. While his contemporaries exchanged mundame banters and poked fun at each other in a manner that betrayed a lack of understanding of the serious nature of the event, Obiano spent the time allotted to him offering deep insights into the economic blueprint of his administration and impressing prospective investors with his brilliant understanding of how a carefully thought out partnership between the government and the private sector can work for the general good of society. Prominent private sector figures who attended the session were unanimous in their observation that governor Obiano has successfully transferred some best private sector philosophies of governance to the public sector, leaving some remarkable footprints and a trail of excellence.
