Sirearly:Someone already answered you. But the ideal thing for people wanting to buy and use the Airtel ODU package is for them to have a normal Airtel working Sim with which they should register on the My Airtel app, then use same number as their alternate number for all the ODUs. If possible, open SmartCash account with the normal Sim too. That way, subscription and checking of balance can easily be done from the app. |
LilNetty:So it seems |
lilclin:Despite them fixing my issue and giving compensation, speed test show less than 5mbs since this morning. Streaming is surprisingly good though. |
I hope my eyes no dey pain because Airtel just increased my compensation from 2 days to one month. Nice. Make I see if na correct compensation abi na Audio. |
morikee:Matches don finish, they don become better. ![]() |
So, Airtel managed to do exactly nothing about the nightly bad network. Can't stream live match even with SD quality. ![]() |
Obviouslyblunt:I think I tried that thing and it didn't work. But you may have a different experience. I inserted my working ODU Sim to a friend's eSim ODU, precisely X17U, it didn't work. I suppose I needed to logout the current eSim but that would have put him in a lot of troubles, so I didn't; and the thing didn't work. The thing was still seeing the esim and there was no interface to switch between Sims. |
Osyxcel:I don leave all those cell locking thing, especially on ZTE ODU because it has good signal on band 7 and always selects it. Sometimes I do just band locking. Since band 7 has just cell 491 here, no need of doing cell locking. By the way, the ZTE ODU has this feature where you can choose to prioritise Video Streaming. Not sure if it makes any difference but I have activated that. |
Osyxcel:Is that not exactly the same model on a different colour? |
lilclin:Na SINR you suppose aim for. Also, take note of those numbers because some of them are negative. So the lesser the negative number, the better. I get 14 to 23 SINR on band 7, mostly 20 and above. That's one of the reasons I like G5F, the install helper app will help you position the ODU in a good signal location. |
LilNetty:2nd of January na im you kept silent? Una dey try for this we kuntri oh |
Tover:Airtel SIM with normal sub should work on the router. Not that I have tested but it will be absurd if it doesn't. I was virtually leading the conversation. I first relayed my grievances to them. Told them exactly the day the router was registered and when it was supposed to expire. Told them about the recent poor network and the ever present nightly snail-speed network. I had first told the firstline CC to forward the call to their supervisors ![]() They didn't ask me to provide IMEI or SN. Maybe because it's not 'the other way' or because I was forward with necessary details like the router number and all those dates and stuff. They were apologizing for most of the time. The supervisor took a long time that I thought they would fix it immediately. After all those checks, she said to wait 24hrs. |
LilNetty:Yes. I called them yesterday, they said 24hours. |
Tover:It is supposed to work na Meanwhile, they have fixed my Sim with 2 days added |
My Airtel app no dey open well since a few hours now. Airtel has a problem. |
moremuch1:It's Airtel 'happening to us' and stuff like that. |
moremuch1: ![]() My own dem no be even swap. I told them straight up to do physical sim, which they did. That's for the second ODU. The first one I planned to swap it but they tried registering eSim themselves and the thing no work. Na so them do physical sim. Make we just dey watch. Na incompetence and lack of adequate regulation dey kee us for naija |
lilclin:Na when I dey use the other way I dey get problems. Even then, it was fixed and extended each time. I never get problem since I went official. This problem is new and I dey laugh as una think say eSim make una untouchable. E go reach everybody. No be we dey ball before wey eSim people dey complain? |
lilclin:It was successful |
lilclin:Don't think they won't remember you one day o ![]() Na here we dey |
michlins:You'd have to define what you mean by "as Airtel wanted". I'm not even living life as God wanted. I mean, I try my best but no be every written stuff I dey follow, na Airtel I go follow their rules I know this their rules may imply not to use the sim on MIFI but I have to. If not make them come carry am. I'm always on the move and it won't make economic sense to have two subs running at the same time. I think they have done this before and it was fixed. It's the time between now that it's happening and when they fix it that is painful. Usually they will increase the expiry date after this but still... FWIW, my guy who is having the esim, has not been able to browse since he acquired the ODU. Initially they removed the bundle, then they put it back and added the extra days, but then they said he was suspended, later they put the sub back. Now they said he can't browse because his alternate number is MTNN. Customer service gave 24 hours, then 48 hours, later 72 hours. But nothing is fixed. |
lilclin:Your case is different. Broadband bundles are not supposed to work on mobile phones. That it worked was a fluke. It's just like that time a few days ago someone here said ODU bundle was working on his Vida M4. The routers I put the ODU Sim into were tweaked to work with it. Besides, the issue happened not when the sim was removed but it has stayed in the ODU for 3 days and stopped working while inside the ODU. |
lilclin:Na the new excuse? Of course na physical sim. I can't be using eSim wey I no go fit commot put for portable router. |
Streetinvestor2:If you go to trades on MCS, type any coy you want to check. Then check the QTY. Any one which has traded at least 100k units at once has moved. |
lilclin:My 3rd party Sim has been retired for a long time. It's the official ODUs. |
geeetee:Never heard from my guy. I don't think he has even gone to their office. |
NSEstudent:Maybe na my location sha 🤷 |
Airtel has progressively become worse in the last couple of weeks. First, speeds came down to less than 20mbs, and then less than 10 at night. Calling them with their promises didn't solve the problem nor made any improvements. This morning, I was unable to browse. After restarting and the problem continued, I called them just to be told I have no sub. As how? My sub is supposed to expire on 9th - Friday, not today. They now said I should wait 24h. Wait 24hrs and suspend my work and everything else I do because you guys wear incompetence as cloths? Na wa o I for sub the other ODU but that will steal a few days from me. |
morikee:Exactly what they did mine ![]() |
lilclin:If you are not having problem with it, you may continue using it. One of my guys who used MTN with the new X17U eSim version had his ODU stop working even with active sub. I took it upon myself to call their CC several times, talked to the supervisors and they said it stopped working because of the alternate number and that the line is suspended. I tried changing the alt number using the hbb link that was shared here, and just like people complained, we neither received OTP on the MTN nor on the email it was registered with. I told him to take to Airtel office. Perhaps that's what you should do. I haven't heard from him though. |
oyekanwahab:I will call you later bro |
So Airtel has yet another new model of ODU. ZTE G5FA, which I would tentatively assume should be a lower variant of G5F. They paired it with the same IDU as the former. |
