emmanuelewumi: If she can get the same 16% by reinvesting she will double her fund in 4.5 years time, if rates increase and she is reinvesting she will double her fund in less than 4.5 years.
If she is not reinvesting she will get her initial capital back in 6.5 years I see. One can actually decide to play VERY safe by doing only Money Markets since Nigeria is very generous with rates. By one, I mean those who have multimillions to those with billions |

michlins: I have it. It's the lower version of the former ZLT router. If you ask me why Airtel went from top to bottom, I cannot make sense of it.
There's no NFC on it like the former and the bands aren't that much. One good thing about it is the battery life. It lasts about one hour longer than the first one I suppose the most plausible reason would be to reduce capital expenditure. The new device would cost less and being that the subs are lowly capped, it won't significantly affect the service. As a matter of fact, a lot of people complain of the battery life. So if indeed this one lasts longer on UPS, then a lot of users won't mind and may actually prefer this one. |

emmanuelewumi: Not bad, she might be concerned about the predictable income from the bond if compounded at 16% she will double her investment in 4.5 years and will also get her capital back in 6.5 years I want to understand how this compounding works. Will she get the same rate if she reinvests the coupons immediately they are paid or is there a way to subscribe to reinvestment of coupons at the point of subscription, which will then be on the same rate? I am asking because, if, like me, or like the way I see it, she receives the coupons and then reinvests them, the rates aren't always the same. They fluctuate with interest rates and prevailing tinkering by regulators. If she doesn't get the same rate, then the compounding at 16% rate is only theoretical. FSDH and Stanbic compound the mutual funds I have with them. I sometimes look at the rates and they tally with prevailing rates across the money market. |

So I finally got my X17M ODU. A simple glance at the device shows ZTE G5F is a more premium device.
The X17M feels solid though. Even though it is smaller, it has a great build quality.
I tested it, I think G5F has better signal reception. Mounted them nearly on the same place and G5F has up to 4 network bars but X17M fluctuates between 1 and 0 when I locked both on band 7.
X17M got SINR 17 on band 7 while G5F got 22. When I have all bands active, G5F chose band 7 as primary whereas X17M chose band 3, apparently because band 3 is readily available here and it must have seen band 7 as scantily available being that it mostly has no signal bars. It chose band 8 as secondary too.
Practically, I don't see much difference. Network was poor when I tested and, although both read between 40 to 51mbs on speed test, ping went as high as 800.
17M gives me more flexibility, even though I know I will eventually settle with G5F. For instance, I casually plugged my ZTE MC801A into LAN2 of the ZLT's IDU and it instantly took off where it left off from G5F (I have been using it as the sole IDU for G5F) and became a secondary IDU, or you can call it an extender. This is good for me because that MC801A has all the devices I use connected and in the way I want. Its guest SSID feature is well configured to serve a maximum of one guest at a time, isolated from my main SSIDs.
Downside is that I needed to plug in another adapter, which I hate so much. The adapter powers the power bank that powers MC801A. I used G5F's UPS to power X17M's IDU (the DC output) and then power X17M from the IDU. That G5F UPS will maintain its position irrespective of the device I decide to use.
I'd be waiting to acquire HUAWEI ODU next. Until then... |

Starlord99: I have spent over a month with Huawei ODU around Osapa/Jakande/Agungi area, here is my overview.
NETWORK CONNECTION (LTE_CA + 5G NR) 1. Very Stable
2. Available Bands: LTE Band B7, B8 and B3 (Carrier Aggregated) 5G-NR Band N78
3. Average Speed: 52 Mbps Up & Down (Quick burst to 160 Mbps down & 75 Mbps Up before equalizing at 52 Mbps) 17 ms Ping, 32 ms Download lag, 47 ms Upload lag.
INDOOR UNIT (Huawei AX3S) 1. Blazing fast router (Supports WiFi6 Speeds) All my devices can take advantage of WiFi 6 and have tx/rx speeds up to 2400Mbps, although limited by Airtel's 50Mbps cap.
2. Robust Setup Options. The config on the indoor router is superb, allowing me to map my apartment and visually position the antenna for best wireless reception. I can configure the network distribution on all my devices, allocating 2.4/5GHz bands to individual devices, as well as limiting their bandwidth usage. I am also able to turn off the annoying LED lights on the unit 🤣
3. Up to 160MHz of 5GHz WiFi The device also allows up to 5GHz 160Mhz super fast bands for my heavy data-use devices. However, enabling this draws a lot of power and kills battery quick. So I stick to 80Mhz now, 160 was overkill with no added benefit.
4. Configure WiFi Signal Power The router also allows me to set how powerful the WiFi signals are. Because I stay in a small apartment and need all the battery I can get, I set the power output to low. I am also able to separate 2.4GHz bands from 5GHz for devices that are far away, struggle to connect to 5GHz and waste battery trying to stay connected.
5. Power Usage is a lot The speed and efficient wireless distribution of the router is unfortunately one of its Achilles hills. When connected to the included powerbank, I am able to get up to 4-5hrs of use of the whole system. However, that amount almost doubles when I use the 2.4GHz router of the ODU alone (more on that later)
OUTDOOR UNIT (Zowee H362-383, 5G CPE Max 6) 1. Super Robust Setup Options I spent a long time configuring this unit to my image and likeness 🤣. From scheduled restarts (very important for continued performance) to locking the very cell towers I get signals from.
2. In-Built 2.4GHz WiFi The unit has an in-built WiFi Router that supports only 2.4GHz WiFi6 and is intended for configuration only. However, I find that using that WiFi alone is able to almost double my powerbank's battery life in dire times. I am able to manage ~30 Mbps up/down given the extended battery life.
3. Lock Cell Towers for Carrier Aggregation I observed the router has an equilibrium state of selecting Band B7 as the Primary Cell and then aggregating it with the super reliable Band B8 and the ever-ready supporter Band B3 along with the always on 5G Band N78. I noticed the fastest bandwidths and ping times with this combo. However, the system takes a very long time to reach that state after powering on.
When I locked to B7 alone + N78, I got fairly good bandwidths (not energetic enough to bounce from 190 Mbps down to 50 Mbps). Moreover, the pings were comparatively bad at 73 ms ping and up to 300 ms upload delay. Locking bands alone wasn't able to give me that equilibrium state until I PCI (Cell Tower) Locked to Band B7 with 3256 EARFCN from a cell tower nearby, Band B8 with 3500 and Band B3 with 1873 both from another cell tower. Now the system reaches equilibrium almost immediately after powering on and gives me those energetic speeds.
4. Receive OTP This device can receive OTP which is a plus for MTN or other network users who want to set up myAirtel and SmartCash (just received my cool N2500 10% discount😁)
MISCELLANEOUS 1. Able to continue the fun outside with a particular mobile phone (I won't elaborate on this thank you 😁)
So far so good with this setup. Feel free to ask me related questions and I'll respond when I am able to.
Thank you for all the help provided in this forum. Pheranmi, Osyxcel and NSEstudent you guys are the real MVP 🙌 Enjoy |

Rokynwastar: .
It's really stupid and amateurish that they'd suggest using an MTN number as the alternate. I remember clearly asking them at the point of registration about using my MTN because my Airtel wasn't in a phone and they encouraged it, not once, not twice. Smh In my case they suggested and I rejected it. I think they were having problems with receiving codes from Airtel. I wasn't having it. You have to understand that those ones doing the registration just want the registration to be successful as soon as possible, by whatever means. They also have no power to make the Airtel sim cards receive the codes as fast as they would want. But those were none of my business |

Mel1234: Just finished a phone call with a customer care, there's really no other choice than to go to their office and change the number to an Airtel number
My problem is that - they should stop doing registration with MTN numbers. 2 days ago when I went to buy another ODU, they were saying I should use MTN as alternate number, to which I strongly disagreed on as though I foresaw these. I like how I monitor my router numbers from the app and I wondered how I could do it when MTN, another carrier, is used as the alternate number. |

geeetee: the airtel 5g has caps also, and so far as i know i dont think there is any caps for mtn fibre x its really unlimited..but airtel 5g NOT ODU the normal 5g has caps after u use certain amount u will get throttled.. you have to call their customer support so they reset the limits. MTN broadband bundles have data caps. The FibreX project is uncapped to the best of my knowledge. It only has speed caps and has up to 300mbs. Users report positive results but to cover the entire country is virtually improbable. |
