Hullabaloon: This new ZTE ODU has an annoying habit of disconnecting from devices. And it happens multiple times a day. Today alone it happened more than 8 times.
And it's only the WiFi that disconnects cos the Ethernet powered devices still work.
Anyone got any solution? You don dey discourage me again boss |

Meklex: there's no 25k for 50mbps on smartcash nurez305: Exactly, I have checked too and there is no 25k 50mbps plan there. You guys probably don't know how it works. 1. Go to the original Airtel app to initiate the subscription. 2. You should use the same phone as the one with SmartCash (this may not be a problem). 3. Choose SmartCash as payment option. You should see SmartCash as an option; just select the 'proceed' option behind it. The above is how it works for me and I have below conditions. 1. All my router lines were registered using my main Airtel line as the alternate number. This may not be a determining factor. 2. The alternate number is the one with which the Airtel app is first registered. 3. The alternate number is also the one with which I opened SmartCash. The key thing could be that you guys are trying to sub through the SmartCash app itself. Instead, initiate the transaction from the Airtel app where the options specific to the ODU sim are present. |

de3lar: I can’t login the mobile app cos for whatever reason, I’m not getting OTP messages on the ODU The ideal situation is that you have a normal Airtel sim before purchasing ODU. During registration, you first provide your normal Airtel Sim as the alternate Sim. This makes everything easier. You should already have Airtel app if the above is true. So after registration, you add the ODU Sim as another account on the app. You can always monitor it there. If you have SmartCash, better; because you will get 10% discount when you sub. |

akinremedy: if you purchase the ODU that comes with E-sim, just go to those roadside shops to do a sim swap/welcome back for that Esim into a physical sim to use it on any other device. Mind you, do not visit the main Airtel office. The moment you do a sim swap, automatically the ODU esim settings will be deactivated for you to now insert physical sim in the sim slot This is quite thoughtful. But has this exact route been explored though? I was also conjecturing if registering a fresh Sim as HBB using IMEI and SN of the router will produce a good result. |

I have used both servers and none of them is opening the site pexels .com very well. Can you try and see if the site loads well on your end? If I use vpn, it loads properly. |

Hullabaloon: I've been calling 300 since morning. There's no single option to speak to a rep. I've just been on a merry go round with that their dial 2 for this or 3 for that So the numbers you will dial are 1 and 9. The secret is to wait for them to finish saying whatever they are saying in each case before dialing. 1. Dial 300 and wait until they finish talking. 2. Press 1 and wait until they finish all those talks. 3. In-between, then will say you should press 9 to speak with agents. At this point, don't press 9 yet. 4. Press 9 when they are done talking, and your call will be forwarded. I just called and, as we were talking, the CC agent started saying he was not hearing me when I could hear him clearly. God sees all |

Rokynwastar: I think I have the liberty to sub either one I choose going forward.
I'm just glad I have a simcard with the 50Mbps plan for my x25 pro. Yes, of course. I suggested the physical one because that way you can use it on other routers when moving. If you sub esim, it's tied to the ODU. |

Hullabaloon: Who knows fastest way to reach Airtel Customer service?
I just woke up to see my router doesn't have Internet. Checked with *323# and I was told I don't have any bundles left. I've only used this thing for 10 days Na this rubbish thing dem dey do dey vex and discourage person from using their services. Meanwhile, you should call 300. That's CC for a the networks. Maybe after calling them severally, they do something about it. They no longer do it to me but I just checked now and they are yet to return my sub to its normal expiry date which they reduced. |

Rokynwastar: That's the only possibility.
Esim is active and physical sim is active. Worth mentioning that I got a mail a day after physical sim registration that my device has been activated.
The number sent in the mail is different from the physical sims number ( already got the physical sim's activation mail earlier ). I suppose you have two subs now. When they expire, you'd need to sub both to use both. If not, you'd have to sub the physical sim. You're living my dream |

dazzy4real: I just got it installed, today is my 3rd day. My observation so far. From my location lagos, i noticed the network is really poor during the day i can barely get 1mbs but once is evening i start to get the 30 to 40mbps plus consistently. Only the first time it was installed i got that speed during the day. Location problem confirmed. Airtel should increase their server (abi wetin e be, network engineers?) in your area for customer satisfaction. |

Hullabaloon: Is there any specific advantage with having the normal sim version?
And how do I check if mine is E sim or normal sim. I'm using the new ZTE version You said it's the new one... Check underneath for the sim slot. Use the picture he posted as a guide. I will equally be interested in seeing it as well. Advantage of physical sim is so you can take the Sim to another more portable device when moving instead of subbing two devices. Economics. |

dustmalik: The new ODUs, especially the latest ZTE one you have, have very good radio, antenna, and modem. Google shows G5F is a cat 7 ODU device. Searching the modem alone shows it's a 4G device, which is confusing. I suppose Google mistook it for another device, although their picture looks like that of the indoor unit (modem) that comes with the G5F. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 1:28pm On Oct 19, 2025 |
Rokynwastar: Yes, it's the G5F + MF296A variant.
The device does not come with a simcard so getting one is more like a last resort when the esim registration fails or when you have an Airtel staff who is willing to give you the ODU enabled sim. But by default, buy this variant is basically esim subscription.
The Base is open for easy access to the sim card.
Thanks for this information. For us living in "the other way", to get ODU Sim is the least of our worries, apparently. So I will definitely get this new ZTE version next month when my current sub expires. Downside is that I will have to endure one month of esim use. |

Rokynwastar: Mine was initially esim but the registration failed when the installer came to my place. I took it back to their office and had a physical sim configured during my 2nd registration.
I get 70/80mbps with it sitting in my room yet to be installed. Very promising to see this. Please confirm this is the one inscribed G5F +MF296A. Also, when you say "had a physical sim configured", do you mean something extra other than normally registering a physical sim and inserting it in? Did they do anything else to the router to make the sim work? Also, was the base of the router this way - showing the slot for sim card, or was a cover unscrewed? |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 6:21am On Oct 19, 2025 |
dazzy4real: Yes! I'm suspecting this. Mine was installed 2days ago and it was blazing with 45mbps but the next day it started struggling to climb 1.5mbps. i experienced the same thing with my 5G router. Worked well for 1 month then subsequent months was terrible 😔 Location Lagos though.. Might be a location dependent issue, or do you think you used up to 1TB in that period? |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 6:19am On Oct 19, 2025 |
akinremedy: most of the issues people have are location related. I can say for certain that i have been having steady network coverage in my Location in Lagos. For a fact i will rate my network connection 95%> presently i am getting 55Mbps on 5G Nice. This new G5F +MF296A is probably a ZTE device and might be a better device than the previous ones. |
