Seems it's my turn today, both my X25 pro and ODU have stopped browsing since 9pm yesterday, still down as I type this, but my personal airtel line is browsing just fine, so I guess it affected only data lines.
Still watching.......

So the Sim spec of the odu .. the Sim is inserted in the one outside .. that means to remove Sim and use with my 4g router wen I am going out with it I have to be climbing up and down everytime I am going out .. if that is the case den... Make I dey manage my 4g router... Airtel network is very bad in my area I used to get 700kbs maximum 1mbps but after I did some inner setting on it... I am getting minimum of 8mbps .. at home and most times 20mbps at work.. I am okay with that, i am still doing the Norma data Sha .. the area data plan ..

Tell us the inner settings boss. Anything to improve connection speed is welcome.

Like i said, my device has both. They originally registered it as esim and when it failed to come up, i was asked to come back for a swap to physical sim, which they inserted into the device.

What colour is it? It seems the black ones are the physical sim versions.

Good thing about the physical sim is that it will probably be easier to remove the Sim than unscrewing everyday to remove Sim from esim variants.

Na imagination be this oh, as I no get first hand information yet.

External sim= Physical sim, and that's what's active right now on the device. The Esim is not active. I was there when they inserted the physical sim into it. It requires unscrewing of the device.

I just realized mine has both physical and esim. You can also check yours in the settings. The physical sim is the active one at the moment, but it can be switched in the settings.

Cool. Question now is, is there a sim slot? If yes, can one easily access it? Is there a specific model with both Sims or all the new ones with esim have it?

Lastly, how you wan take get Sim wey you go put there? You go register Sim as per normal and put there?

Later got mine yesterday, and the installer came to fix it in the evening.

It was Esim though, the sim number is written on the box. There's a barcode on the inside-unit to just scan and recharge for subsequent months.

But I heard from someone that there's even a sim port inside it for physical sim when one is done with the first month. I'll try to take the ODU down and see whether the port is actually there. The manual shows it is there though.

Would be nice if this is confirmed. Then I will go back and buy the esim like that.

I foresee that device going up in price.

Have you confirmed that a working ODU Sim isn't working on other routers? The Sim still showing normal Sim subs is, to me, not yet fixed.

They shaved off about 14days from the actual expiration date of my subscription.



Right now, it’s not even browsing with my 4G Router anymore.

I think the major problem is the subs showing normal Sim ones. It's an assumption.

While they can fix that one of validity date, I'm not sure they can fix the other one by calling them because I have done that to no avail.

Mine is correct. In fact, they increased it by one day. That was when I called them to complain. After fixing it, they extended it by one day.

So after the recent problem, it remained the same date. 10th October.

But the available subs are still those of normal Sims. Is that the same with yours?

i think after the upgrade all odu are working now but mifis and routers have been disconnected. It's final.

The upgrade may not be complete yet, because although the sim now correctly shows the validity date, available data subs still don't reflect those of ODU/HBB.

that's not true. I'm using the ODU and the legal 50Mbps plan that comes with it. Mine has stopped working since 10 AM till now. It doesn't even recognize my sim as a Router sim anymore. It's a problem from Airtel. Perhaps an upgrade. It happened 2 days ago and was restored. It happened again today. Relax, Airtel doesn't know if na backdoor or front door data anyone has. Na general problem

Not quite.

If that is the case, we should be able to see the data balance and not able to browse. But if you check the sim on the app, it's not showing as HBB but the available subs are those of normal Sims and the unexpired subs is not showing.

They tested the waters a few days ago and now this is happening.

If I recall correctly, the errors started both times when I took out the Sim and put into another router for traveling. All the time it was in the X25, it was working. Now it's back in it but not working.

What I'm assuming is that, maybe, just maybe, the original device is registered twice and only one of the sims works at any given time. If that's the case, at least I have enjoyed the sim for a while.

In any case, I'd be getting the ODU if possible. Hopefully I get the physical sim one as that will fit my use case.

If you check your Airtel app, you'd see it is no longer showing as having data sub to expire on the original due date.

Happening here. This is the second time it's happening. Funnily enough, their customer service said I should load data that it's been exhausted 😁

When you pay, they don't give you the box na. The installer brings it with him.

I just paid at their office in Ikeja, and they told me their installer will call me.

Wanted to even tell them that it's the one with hard sim I want o, but I'm sure they'll just say it's what they send from their office bla bla that I will see, or they may not even know about it sef.

Airtel keeps changing the process around this ODU thing, one staff told me they just change the payment and registration method yesterday again. I got a payment link via my email, then proceeded to Paystack on my phone. I guess it wasn't like that before.

There's absolutely no crime in asking and, who knows, they would have made sure you get physical Sim.

I'd surely ask when I go their office.

First review and personal observation so far.

The ODU router pulls better network than the regular router and it's 5G enabled.

I don't have 5G in my area so I'm not getting the full speed.

The battery last around 2-3hrs as it powers 2 devices simultaneously the indoor and outdoor unit.

It presently cost 25k from Airtel office but it's really scarce. (They're currently on promo).

If you're getting the ODU you need to subscribe directly from the mobile app for atleast Months after purchase.

When you want to purchase be careful not to get the esim alone variant. Get the physical sim so that you can remove the sim and put in another router or your tweaked mifi that works with Airtel unlimited.

I didn't do any proper installation I placed it somewhere in my room the last speed test I did got around 18mbps.

I was thinking the black device is the outdoor unit, but folks be showing the white one mounted outside.

Put my router back on and it's now working.

Also, the Sim now correctly shows the validity/expiry date of the sub as against displaying it as having no data subscription on the Airtel app.
