Anyone0455: Update I called the installer moment ago he said the device is with him currently but the device is not working they have been trying to troubleshoot the device hence the no show Since we now know this is mostly caused by the esim issue, you can request them to swap the sim so it becomes physical sim. Or have you explored that? |

dustmalik: Like I said before, once the registration is completed, wait until it starts working before you leave the office.
Earlier today, I registered for a new one. Thank God their manager, who is a more experienced staff was there.
So, I opted for the ZTE variant. After registration was completed, they weren't sure if it was successful or not, but they were saying it would go through eventually. Then they showed their manager, who was standing nearby. He told them that it would fail, and that they should swap the line with a physical sim. Once that was done, they said I should go, that it would work. I then insisted on testing it before leaving. So, the manager himself inserted the sim inside the device and asked me to connect to it. Once I made sure that it was browsing, I left. I like how smoothly this one went. I also like the fact that you chose ZTE. So it is now 100% confirmed that it also works with external sim too, as @Akin had suggested earlier. Is this your second or third ODU though? |

dustmalik: The new one is still same as the old ZLT. The only difference is it doesn't have Esim and the IDU is white. Oh, I thought that black one had X17m pro as ODU. You know the normal 5G router we all talk about here has two versions - X25 and X25 pro - and you won't tell the difference by merely looking at them. |

dustmalik: From what I heard, ODUs that have hybrid sims (Esim and physical sim) were giving them serious problems, and that's why they have now introduced one that doesn't come with Esim. The new one they started issuing this week has no Esim. Better only physical sim than only esim. But I think the new device could be ZLT X17m (which has a white IDU). I would prefer the X17m pro, the first batch they sold with black IDU; but na free device, so anything goes. The ZLTs have good IDUs by the way. But that ZTE G5F is a more modern device. I don dey wait for my sub to expire make I buy device they come dey change device |

Now after calling the installer days after the payment he said while registering for the line they run to one issue like that and can only be fixed backend same story have been hearing for days now I just keep refreshing my mail for line confirmation nothing of such yet So they register in people's absence? Aren't they supposed to send a message to your alternate number and get the confirmation from you as the first step? Na wa o |

Anyone0455: I paid for the odu 18th of this month up to this moment I haven’t gotten is just same story “the error can only be fixed backend “ I don’t even have the odu number or anything even the customer service can’t escalate without the odu number and device number I’m just tired at this point. I think it helps a lot to have a normal Airtel sim before purchasing the ODU. What problems are you guys having? The registration is failing or the router is not browsing? |

dustmalik: To be honest, I don't know how they're giving out these devices out at the price they are. Though I understand the idea is to make up for the loss via subscription. And I also think, since they buy them in their thousands, they also get great discounts. Yes, they will be getting massive discounts. You are also right about them making up from subs. The competition is stiff. If they don't get their network to be stable, other ISPs will snatch their customers and they will make losses. |

Rokynwastar: Lol, rookie numbers bro. I went there 6 times before I had my issues resolved. On 3 different occasions, it was nimc portal being down.
The 6th day, when nimc went down, I vowed that if I left without resolving my problems, I'll cut my losses and move on with life. A 25k router isn't worth the stress.
Luckily for me, nimc went through when other people's were failing.
Just be patient and make sure you go early in the morning because nimc portal gets overloaded during the day. That router is not 25K o. You fit google ZTE G5F price. |

I don't believe there's nowhere the thing is working. Also, you can collect contacts from that centre and frequently call to check if it's going so that you can go do yours. |

Hullabaloon: Oh yeah. This was me last week. New ZLT. wanted to run mad.
Got the solution here. Log into the IDU web ui(192.168.18.1), go to wifi settings and disable single SSID. Has Airtel brought back ZLTs and dumped the ZTE devices? |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 10:33am On Oct 27, 2025 |
morikee: No the 2.4Ghz has longer range but it's slower while the 5Ghz is shorter range but has faster bandwidth and more immune to interference from other devices Yes. That's why I assumed they can connect automatically to 2.4 when devices move away from the source. |
Phones › Re: Airtel Unlimited Data Thread! Best Data Plan In 2024!! by NSEstudent: 9:45am On Oct 27, 2025 |
morikee: I no dey use Single SSID i always split between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz so i only use 2.4Ghz if I'm far away I think what the single SSID means is that devices which are capable of connecting via 5GHz connect to it while others who only connect to 2.GHz also connect to that one. That's how I use my X25 currently. I don't think it has any advantage other than having a uniform name for the wifi signal. Perhaps it might be that it switches automatically to 2.4GHz if a connected and compatible device moves farther away from the router. If it makes a router malfunction, that's absurd as well. But it's not uncommon for some settings to trigger bugs in poorly written software. |

Peterlove11: I tried it, it didn't work. Concerning the zte IDU, I feel it's WiFi 5 since not much info as regards specs was provided I see. When I googled MF296A (from G5+MF296A) alone, which I think is the IDU, it shows a 4G router. It is not exactly the same product code, however. The router is a cat 6 device though but that modem that comes as the IDU in the G5+MF296A combo is not well known. You may need to reconfirm. My Samsung phone will always indicate which category of Wi-Fi it is connected to. |

Peterlove11: Same happened at my end, mine took almost 2 weeks before it started working. I saw on the 10th days of calling and visiting their office, the number of lights on the odu has increased from 2 to 4 which means their is now data network on it, yet it still didn't work. Even from their end, they got no clue on why it's not working. So I tinkered with it that night, went to the settings, under sim, changed inner(e) sim to external sim and it started working automatically. You might try that and see if it works Already, have registered for the newer zte because I grew out of patience with it. They brought the white one yesterday and both are working. Have compared their performance. Now I have the older zlt which started working almost 2 weeks and the newer white zte
My interim observation: The older zlt has better IDU, i usually get better upload speeds compared to the newer one. and the range is better, covers every part of my flat. The newer one seems to get better latency for example in CODM, I was getting 32-47ms, while the zlt is a bit higher at 38-50ms. but in gameplay no noticable difference. Also the zte speeds drop the moment I step outside my flat. Same doesn't happen with the zlt unless I move a considerable distance away. Maybe the WiFi 6 on it has anything to do with that.
In all, I will keep monitoring both performance to know which I will keep. Have you tried(is it possible?) to use the ZLT IDU with the ZTE ODU? I suppose the major problem of the ZTE will be the indoor unit whose specs I don't know. The zte odu, it is said, is a cat 7 device with AI capabilities (whatever that means). Is the ZTE IDU not a Cat 6 device though? |

You better buy it before they increase the price 😂 Omoo, I will finally buy next month. I don call Airtel to fix my reduced expiry and they did, of course. I'm nowhere near the threshold but I just wanted to ask x Someone mentioned that theirs reduced to 2mbps after 1TB. If the person is reading this, kindly try this reset and tell us the result. mrboluu: Goodday everyone, I have been using the Airtel 4g router for over 8 months now with all the periodic wahala and occasional outage with very slow speeds as I was paying #30,000. Recently I found this group and saw the ODU device was being recommended and being advertised with 50mbps for #25,000. I was overjoyed and immediately went to their office but to my disappointment I was told it was out of stock in Kaduna. If anyone can help or knows anyone who works at Airtel to help me acquire the ODU. Thank you in advance Problem with Airtel ODU is that they don't sell it and allow you take it without an installer. If you can get an installer working in a specific Airtel outlet, you can go and register, then he takes it as though to install it for you and you travel with it. The described scenario is rare. |
