At times, I forget Kenya is in a rough neighborhood...
Sometimes I feel like that calm is more out of luck than design. Our military is professional, disciplined, and well trained, but when it comes to heavy firepower and equipment... we're punching way below our weight.

Is there any particular reason the anglophone countries like Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Uganda & Ghana cannot organize regular military war games and counterinsurgency exchanges between themhuh
I see Kenya has a dedicated simulation area it regularly trains with U.K troops.
What is the drawback?

In 2022, the KDF arrived in DRC (EACRF), as M23 were advancing towards Goma. Advance was halted. There was withdrawal of M23 from Kibumba, Rumagambo & Kishishe.

Then came DRC elections.Tshisekedi who was facing an election, needed a war to galvanise support. What was a smooth relationship with the force and force commander swiftly deteriorated up to that (in)famous incident where he publicly berated the Force Commander in the presence of EAC Heads of State, for not going to war as he wanted. Bear in mind as all this was going on, DRC wasn't even remitting its financial contribution to the mission, as earlier agreed, and Kenya was bearing the majority of the cost.

KDF had to leave to save its image from complex security situation.

2025: Goma has fallen

Kenyan generals and military strategists recognised the problem in DRC to be a political one that needed a political solution,@eacrf_DRC
actually did its job. It secured territory, it protected civilians, it got the combatants to the table. Basically, EACRF guaranteed peace.

The force was supposed to act as a tool of diplomacy to compel compliance to the political agreement.
DRC however wanted an auxiliary force that they could control (and not pay for) that they could use to attack Rwanda. The Congolese weren't and aren't interested in peace.

Dozens of Somali National Army soldiers have been photographed seeking refuge at a site manned by the Kenyan security agencies at the Ishiakani border town in Kenya amid ongoing armed clashes at Raskamboni area between Federal government troops and Jubaland regional forces.
some back story... During Kenya's military intervention in Somalia in 2012, Madobe emerged as an ally. Kenyan forces worked with his Ras Kamboni Brigade, a militia opposed to Al-Shabaab, to capture and stabilize the strategic port city of Kismayo in September 2012. With Kenyan backing, Madobe became the leader of Jubaland, a semi-autonomous region in southern Somalia, and has been the de facto president ever since.

Recently, the Somali central government deployed Turkish-trained Gorgor troops to Ras Kamboni to overthrow the regional president. with their supply lines cut and without air support. They surrendered en mass this morning after clashes with Jubaland forces. Here they are pictured crossing over into kenya

I've noticed a growing trend where militaries in conflict zones are increasingly adapting to subterranean warfare.Probably it will be the next big thing in this era of drones.
