68816419: Why are Multi Million companies leaving in Kenya?
7 Multi-Million Companies Which Shut Down in 2022 1- Hilton Hotel After 53 years of operation in the country, Hilton announced plans to exit the Kenyan market on December 31, 2022. 2- GSK
In October 2022, GlaxoSmithKline, a British multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, announced the end of its operations in the country. This was after six decades of the company’s operations in Kenya. 3- Kune Food
In June, Kune Food, a Nairobi-based cloud Kitchen startup, announced its closure.
Kune Foods founder Robin Reecht attributed the closure to the tough economic times.
He noted that despite offering food at an affordable price of around Ksh352, their sales Notify Logistics
The high cost of operation forced Notify Logistics to end its operations in the country.
Through a statement in September, the company attributed its closure to the global recession and inflation in the country.
When Notify started in 2018, its business model was quite attractive as it focused on renting out shelves to vendors to run its operations.
However, the model failed, compelling the company to end its operations in the country.
NopeaRide
Kenya’s first fully electric taxi service, NopeaRide, announced its exit from the Kenyan market after its parent company EkoRent Oy failed to raise additional funding to keep it afloat.
NopeaRide, the local subsidiary of the Finnish company, filed for insolvency, bringing to an end the operation of the electric tax business. WeFarm
In July, the Agritech company, WeFarm, closed down one of its services, the WeFarm shop, barely a year after setting it up.
WeFarm shop was an application that the company developed to help farmers acquire agricultural products online and share reviews and advice with each other.
WeFarm’s Director of Growth, Sofie Mala, attributed the shop shut down to current market conditions, affecting its scale-up model.
The company has connected over 2.5 million farmers in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania since its establishment in 2014 by Kenny Ewan. You should balance the equation by providing a list of companies that are setting up shop in Kenya |

GreenandGold: Because;
- 1/3 are for training - 1/3 for deployment - 1/3 being serviced
BUT in theory, if all are airborne then they can airlift a battalion..... Hypothetically might sound good but I believe military resources are usually deployed in a sustainable manner, otherwise in a contested environment you might end up jeopardizing most if not all of your air mobile capabilities for the rest of the operation. if I were to choose I would go for tactical transport aircrafts with capabilities of performing short Take Off and Landing (STOL) in unprepared dirt runways. The likes of the c27 spartan or some c 130j then I would deploy them in intervals or even do the initial insertion using paratroopers in the dead of the night |

Lurker4Long: The UN lifted the arms embargo on the DRC 2 weeks ago, and it would seem the Turks didn't waste any time! The other possibility is that the Turks will be deploying there to fill the gap left by the Ukrainians and their helicopters who permanently ended their deployment last month. The UN DPKO has been asking around for countries to provide rotary craft. Military equipment delivered to DRC Military yesterday

NTSA: EACRF troops deployed at Kibumba on Thursday evening assisted over 70 local farmers who faced the challenge of transporting their farm produce to Kibati area following a heavy downpour. They appreciated the good gesture from the EACRF troops. On Winning “hearts and minds” there are two broad approaches one is the conventional military approach enemy-centric approach, which tends to focus efforts on the insurgents themselves the other is a population-centric approach which focuses on disengagement while attempting to convince current members to give up violence and to lure them away from insurgent the group.I think the kdf ministry of defence researchers and think tanks had done their homework on the DRC situation. |
