There have been reports that kenya is seeking funding to acquire a New Advanced Air Defense System, specifically SPYDER from Israel. This will be a major addition to our inventory if the acquisition goes as planned . https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/bd/economy/kenya-taps-israeli-loan-for-upgrade-of-air-defence--4611290 For the longest time kenya have been using a mixture of radars installed at various FOBs plus some old mistral and Hawk Rocket Systems complimented with several manpad systems and anti aircraft guns

NTSA:Texel Air Cargo 737-7K2(FC) A9C-SJW #8940B4 as XLR881 out of Bahrain, seen over Ethiopa at 0845z. Likely en route once again to Wajir Airbase, Kenya. Allegedly the long postponed proposal of launching drone strikes from Kenyan territory is back . Does Kenya stand to gain from this? At a strategic level i would say yes, The mere presence of MQ 9 reapers will act as a deterrence to regional threats.

The Kenya Air Force is celebrating its 60th anniversary this week, since its founding in 1964. However, the Air Force currently has fewer aircraft compared to its 50th anniversary. We have lost quite a number since operation linda nchi back in 2012 and there haven't been any major acquisitions for a while.

NTSA:KDF patrols initially faced direct ambushes. When these became less effective, al-Shabaab shifted to deadlier tactics, planting IEDs along patrol routes and following up with heavy gunfire. As military pressure increased, al-Shabaab resorted to targeting civilians with IEDs. However, recent intelligence-led operations have largely dismantled IED-making cells and disrupted their bomb-making material supply chains. This shows KDF's ability to learn and adapt to changing threats. |
Much of southern Somalia has now been stabilized , with reports of armed conflict becoming increasingly rare. This is reflected in the recent CIMIC initiatives that happen regularly, last Saturday such there was a friendly football match played between KDF troops and a local Dhobley football club. PIC 2 Lt. Col. Umuro Umuro, the Chief of Intelligence for ATMIS Sector 2, gave footballs, basketballs, and volleyballs to the Somali Security Forces in Dhobley ahead of the Sports Tournament.

NTSA:Russia also Lost half of its Black Sea Fleet to a country with a non-functioning navy. It's possible that Russian ships might have relied on modified air defense systems like the S-300 and S-400 installed on ships ,rather than a fully integrated system like the American Aegis system. |
Apparently some time back in 2018 the Russian and Syrian counterparts (reportedly 500 total) tried to take a Conoco gas plant that 40 or so US SOF and Kurdish militia held. This day,the Russians witnessed the awesome spectacle of American aerial fire power. Of interest is that of as now ,Russia, with its supposedly powerful air force, hasn't been able to dominate the skies in Ukraine. The S-400s and S-300s haven't lived up to the hype they had before the war. ![]()

Kenya is in the process of joining Operation Gallant Phoenix, a multinational program promoting collaboration and sharing of terrorist information. Gallant Phoenix allows allied nations not only to share intelligence on foreign fighter threats, but also to get that information back to their law enforcement and homeland security agencies so they have visibility on the movement of foreign fighters. |
MAN1960:check the difference State Visit: It involves elaborate ceremonies, state dinners, and military honors. These visits are planned well in advance and serve to solidify strong ties between two nations. Official Visit: Similar to a state visit but with a slightly less formal program. It's typically made by heads of government to discuss bilateral relations, economic cooperation, or other important topics. Working Visit: A more focused visit aimed at addressing specific issues or attending conferences and international events. Working visits involve meetings with government officials and experts but have less emphasis on ceremony. |
I think the us is the most dominant force across all domains (land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace).

Fidha254:In my opinion the designation of Kenya as a major non-NATO ally by the United States is a reflection of long-term efforts and strategic considerations that have been in place for many years ,Its not something that the Us would do in just 2 yrs of Rutos administration,It is not solely a result of President Ruto's administration .Even if there are changes in administration, the foundational aspects of the U.S.-Kenya relationship, particularly in security and strategic cooperation, are likely to remain stable, though the specifics of the engagement might evolve. |
For the past 1 year Americans have been busy flying in to wajir airbase that is currently undergoing some sort of expansion .we have also seen some High profile visits by the CIA director and Some high ranking military officers.

Odunayaw:While developing strategic visions Is the army Independent from the air force,Navy etc? |
A little bit of fine tuning at the tactical level maybe is what is needed.Equipments are only as effective as the soldiers. |
Odunayaw:Do the various services operate independently? ...In my opinion I think The Nigerian Military as a whole is doing just fine at the strategic level which is evidenced by the numerous hardware acquisitions. |

jl115:Interesting, just read how DL16 acts as a common tactical language for US forces, ensuring everyone operates from the same battlefield picture. Hence their combined arms doctrine.
