This thread is a great indication of how many people support an individual blindly in a nation that has no direction. Many of those reaffirming David's unfounded claims don't even know who Oge Obi is/was. If they knew, they'd lose all respect for the dude. If he had published whatever he did with the New York Times and this came out, he'd be out of work in a second. |
There's no rocket science here. You really don't know anything else to do. This is what you've done all your life, so what else can you really do? All you've done is start your own company in your own name. That's about it. And you are looking for those who will help you fund it. In the end, you are just out to extort. That's about it. And for those who continue to give money to these guys, your gullibility will reward you. |
GloriousGbola:Lol @ salacious rags. Daily mail is indeed garbage though. It's seeming ever more likely that some, not all, of David's output could be salacious rags, honestly. If he's his own editor, reviewer and legal team, then it calls into question the nature of journalism that he's doing. |
AntiZikist:It does seem that way. One strong indication that supports this, is not mentioning his association with the lady in the said article. That just screams all shades of wrong. How could you have married one of the subjects of the story and not reveal that? Frankly, David is often at best a rumour monger who engages in speculative journalism. I've followed him for a while and have to say I wasn't entirely convinced by some of his supposed investigative work. |
Whatever it is he said, I think it's highly disappointing that, as a journalist, David did not mention his however strong association with one of the subjects of the story "Oge" in the supposed investigative work. That goes against every core journalistic principle and is actually highly questionable. I'm no fan of this David. Even if the allegations were true that the Kiki girl slept her way up, I don't think he had that much of an evidence to prove it. If he did have really strong evidence, he would have been in that court defending his work. Any journalist can publish anything and tell people to go file a libel suit. That's the nature of a journalist's work: to publish. The real meat is in being able to defend that thing you published. Not just scream on Twitter that everything you wrote is true, without providing real evidence. Sometimes this guy just seems to be more a Twitter journalist who speculates than a real investigative one |
Saying a lot, but saying nothing. Yes, it's true noodles aren't a great option for kids, but would you mind actually going into specific details about the kind of chemicals present in the spices and why they are bad for kids. This isn't a good way to present a great message. Infact, it's very likely there are even worse chemicals in other food options. What food do you want to give kids these days that don't have horrible chemicals in them? Even the cerelac that's often given to little babies have horrible preservatives that are not good to consume in excess. I wouldn't say to rule out noodles completely. I would rather say to consume these foods in great moderation, but to favour veggies above all because they provide the best nutrients for human growth. |
This guy is an american, not a Nigerian. |
geekybabe:Kinda strange the way you misunderstood nearly all I wrote. I never said "Certifications alone validated knowledge in the tech space". Neither did I say "python was enough to jump into cybersecurity". In fact, I never even said anything remotely close. But that's alright. Take what you will from what I wrote. |
geekybabe:My personal recommendation to those in tech in canada is to continue to diversify. There's no reason someone in the data space can't start dabbling in cloud technologies or cybersecurity, and many of these things are easy to learn. Oftentimes, the only thing that validates knowledge in the tech space is certification. Not all the time, but at least sometimes. Knowing python is often enough to start dabbling into bash scripting. And with bash, you are already one leg into cybersecurity. Heck, there are cybersecurity roles that require no coding sef. So, for a smart tech person, picking that up shouldn't be all that of a big deal. In simple terms, diversification is key |
funkyy598:Lmao. Just one word and zero opinion, and you are this triggered? ![]() |
House34:Chatgpt? |
slydog:I'd say his advice carries some weight. While some of these insurances do work, they often come with payments that are hard to maintain or clauses that can result in complete loss of previous payments, all hidden deep in convoluted pages and pages of text. Let's not deceive ourselves. There's a reason the immigrant community who know no better are squarely targeted for these products. In fact, it has gotten so bad that their salesmen only need to see that you are black to approach you. |
Deeegbee:Not 10 years if you applied in Nigeria, even if you are a Canadian PR. You'd likely get a lesser number of years, but not the automatic 10 PRs get in Canada. |
This is sad story that someone would go out and take away another person's livelihood. But it's even sadder that most of the commenters here, and by extension most Nigerians, don't see anything wrong with what this guy has done. They just find it uncool that he was finally caught or that he went to deliver himself to the hands of his enemies. |
Predator188:There's no question making an active YouTube video while driving is distracted driving. There's not even an argument here. OP has taken down the video, so it's hard to know exactly what was going on. However, if it were a harmless dashcam recording without any interactions or without the OP talking, that's a different story and may not be distracted driving. But if it were an active YouTube video where the OP is constantly talking, that's without question distracted driving, as it can be easily seen in the same light as actively talking to a passenger while driving, which itself is also distracted driving. Let's be guided in this Canada. OP can never ever defend their action successfully in court, if it's the latter. |
Clicked:It used to be Dublin. Now, it's Rome. You will likely be inside the plane and not descend. The plane, I think, is only stopping for refuelling. So, you have no reason to be worrying about transit visa. If you actually needed a transit visa, Ethiopian would have indicated it. https://onemileatatime.com/news/ethiopian-airlines-refueling-stop-rome/ |
affoncad:That's quite a snide comment. Dude expressed a basic opinion, which could be a fact. There's no way you could have understood that as "pressuring". Maybe you needed to change your perspective reading that. |
JIREN01:Earning a salary of 200k in Canada is not easily attainable in the public sector. You can see the average salaries of public sector employees online and the best most directors or senior directors earn is around 150-160k. However, in the private sector, a 200k salary is more than possible. Very possible. When you add in stock options and bonuses, even a senior employee in the private sector can get to that threshold of 200k CAD. I know senior data scientists that are in that salary range. |
NgeneUkwenu:Possibly. Looks like he was sick all along |
Canih28:ignorance is the father of the king of thinking they demonstrated. If it was a single-engine failure, they had nothing to worry about. If it was dual engine failure, then the APU could still help with minimal flying operations. And if all failed and they were going to crash, then it will be an inevitable crash into a densely populated Lagos. It's as simple as that. If there will be survivors, it will depend on the speed of the rescue team, the skill of the pilot, and some bit of luck. It has happened before and no one survived. And there have also been instances of a few survivors. Personally, I don't see what the effect of the shouting and praying would have been. I'm sure the passengers of Dana also were shouting and praying, yet we had the inevitable crash of the airplane. The problem with things like this is that it doesn't allow credit to be given to those who deserved it. Example the pilot and the crew. |
Pastoshizzy:They can never see it. They are too opportunitistic to see what damage this is causing. Only this morning, I was engaged in conversations with some Nigerians who thought someone inadvertently sending money into their account was simply channeling them their blessings. That's how weird the thinking has gone. |
stevolinkon40:I don't know much about this. But I think the 2-year rule is generally valid. The only province I'm aware of which doesn't specifically mention this 2-year thing is Quebec. But I won't be surprised if they also require 2 years. You can generally get some points for your UK and Nigerian licences (years of driving experience) though, and that may allow you take the G road test immediately. See this link 2. It I am able to get the driver's license, am I able to start rideshare gigs (Uber Comfort, Uber premier) immediately or there is years of driving in Canada required to do this? You can start these kinds of jobs immediately once you can legally drive on Canadian roads. It's that simple. 3. I also intend to stay in the UK till December to add more to my POF since I have a good paying job here and can easily set aside 1500£ each month until December as all this no job in Canada thing dey scare me and I want to be fully loaded before I come, do you think this is necessary or the ride-sharing thing will be sufficient and no need to stay till December? The rule of thumb: the more money you can bring to Canada, the better. You can never have enough, because the bills pile up pretty quickly, and having enough will always give you flexible room. Your plan to start this ride-sharing thing should not stop you from continually applying for jobs in your desired field. While it may appear like there are no jobs in Canada, people are still getting jobs daily. There is no reason you can't be one of them. But it's actually is a very good thing that you are planning ahead this early. That's commendable. |
DARLINGTON869:Nothing is wrong with you. Don't shoot yourself into a moral hellhole that will make guilt destroy your mental health. Masturbation is totally normal for young, healthy adults. Most would indulge in it, at least until they get married or start having steady sexual partners. It's nothing to be ashamed of. What's you should be more worried about is allowing someone guilt trip you into such a state where your mental health starts taking a beating because you masturbate. That's something you may never be able to recover from. |
chatinent:The thing dey always shock me. Just as you said, you'll see the Christian calling masturbation a sin and not engaging in it, gladly engaging in fornication and adultery. Abi, no be Naija again? Where hotels abound and constantly serve so-called Christian men and women, including pastors, engaging in all sorts of illicit sex. Listening to any of these Christian rants is just a total waste of useful time. |
Righteousness2:Don't worry about it. If I'll listen to anyone, it will never be you. You are just as much of an hypocrite as your lord and master, Donald Trump. |
Righteousness2:This right there is the evidence of your gross hypocrisy. I have seen you post Christian messages here on nairaland and have never taken you seriously at any time, partly because of the emptiness of your responses and partly because of what you just did here. You know very well that Trump is an abuser, a hypocrite, or what you'll call a sinner in your own lingo. This is a man that indulged h.ookers, a man that talks down on disabled people, a man that is wicked at heart and is no respecter of the law or of your own God. Yet, here too are pushing the narrative that God has ordained him. Are you just nuts or are you daft? What exactly is the content of your so-called religion if this is what you believe!? |
MelaninGemstone:This is very easy to fix. Try go to an immigration office and talk physically to one of them. Na naija you dey. |
leksite120:That's like for shared apartment in downtown Toronto ![]() |
Immortalregis:The idea that works is to not just do Ubereats in isolation, but to combine it with skip, doordash, instacart and all other varieties. Sitting on just one is the greatest waste of time and resources. Of course, no one should dwell too long on these kinds of job trying to get ahead. It's why they are called survival jobs to start with. One should just survive on them long enough to shoot out enough resumes and land a more preferred role. |
Harmony63:You can do BCS. That's easily done. |
njambert:Absolutely not enough! But it's down to how you spin it. The way to spin it is to say you are "very passionate about knowledge sharing", "immensely interested in disseminating useful information to help improve the company's work process", and/or "excited about advancing the collective knowledge of your team by staying abreast of technical developments in widely-used open-source tools like Python or cloud platforms like AWS", etc. However you want to form it to suit your field. The idea is to show that, besides your job, you also push technical content for educative purposes. While you would usually do this on the job, you've also shown it by creating technical content on LinkedIn or hosting videos on YouTube which have reached .... thousand number of people and have been viewed .... times. This way, you push a side of you that's a plus to your basic job knowledge. If you are very bilingual, you have a lot more potential than you can imagine. Go to the government website and apply for roles, making sure to highlight your bilingual skills. Take this very seriously. It works. Also, customer care shouldn't take you significant time to get, if that's what you want. |
. Canada humbled me mehn. When I eventually got jobs in the data space, with my masters and certifications, I didn’t get any 6 figure offers
