semilore12:If you aren't trying to game the system, then just explain yourself with a letter of explanation. Keep it brief and straight to the point. No unwarranted repetitions. Explain how it is a gift deed and if possible, attach some evidence to proof that. Take the chance to state the source of the fund. Every visa officer will certainly be skeptical how you can raise such balance in a couple of days. If you had it before, why didn't you just attach it in the first place. That's what they'd be thinking. In addition, they'd be looking at your jobs and may not be able to find justification for raising such amount of money in that short time. In fact, typically with issues like POF like this one, it's just straight denial on grounds of insufficient POF, because they'd not expect that you can just raise the balance like that. In any case, you have the chance to explain yourself and to attach the proofs they are expecting to see. You should know that the visa officer likely knows what has happened, but only giving you the chance to explain yourself. Take it wisely. |
SisterDeborah:Go to Ontario. Toronto specifically. That's where you'll find the country's best healthcare. More like Lagos. |

Superwoman1101:Let me be frank with you. If Canadian visa officers wanted to see the full and complete details of your visa application, including your DS-form, interview questions, documents submittes, etc., yes they can. They can if they want to. Here is the information Canadian and US officials share with each other. It's very detailed. In summary, they can know everything you told the US officials, if they wanted to. Now, the question you should be asking is: "will they?" Would they have an incentive to do that? That's what's the unknown factor here, and that's likely what you should be asking yourself. If you have not stated a US visa denial in your application, maybe they won't have an incentive to check. If the US official has raised a flag on your file, that could prompt them to check just to be sure your story is consistent. That's something we can only speculate about. And if you are a first-time traveler to Canada, it won't be unusual for them to look around to see your travel history to other countries like the US whom they share information with. If I were you, I'd just keep my fingers crossed. If you think there are additional documents that could help prove your Canada case, you can always raise a webform and submit such documents. Otherwise, you just wait and see. |
gaby:You couldn't have put it any more succinctly! |

mamawa123:That's common knowledge. Traveling from Paris to Amsterdam means she's traveling in Schengen territory. If she doesn't have a Schengen visa, she can't do that. It's just like traveling by road from Lagos to Port Harcourt without any legal document (e.g. a visa) that says you can travel within Nigeria. People make this mistake sometimes because the tickets for these kind of flights are often quite cheap (because of the local connection). Truth is, anybody can book any ticket they want online. Nothing stops you. But while booking, they typically ignore warnings alerting them to the need for having the required visas for the booked travel. If the airline allowed her to checkin, they would pay a huge fine for it. The online warnings were enough. |
Debbieeeeeee:Imagine flying forwards first to Dubai and then backwards to the US. That's Isrealite's journey par excellence. Nobody should be flying Emirates from Nigeria to North America. |
TITILOLA88:Order wheelchair assistance for your mum. Don't trust a stranger with you mum. What if the stranger stashes contraband in her bag nko? |
coputa:This is so right. But the narcissistic tendency in humans can never make most want to do this. Most people want everyone informed about their successes in life. They want to brag about it. They want others to envy them, to worship them. Why do you think the large majority of Christian crowd at Adeboye's church were super esctatic when he said "your colleagues will come to you for food" or something of that sort? Omo, people are just inherently narcissistic. |
dubaiboy1:If they are pictures, first reduce the size of the pictures first before converting them to pdfs. Google how to reduce the size of a picture by reducing its resolution. If they are text-based document, then convert those documents into pictures first, then do what I just mentioned. |

79733139:Nice one! Congrats! Well deserved. I'm always very happy seeing someone getting ITA with French. Never stop learning the language. It opens you to hundreds of job opportunities in Canada. In fact, for the simple job of tech support, for example, you get paid more if you speak French than if you speak only English. Felicitations, ca vaut toujours la peine de savoir parler la langue en tant qu'immigrant au Canada. Ca donne beaucoup d'access aux opportunites, soit dans le travail, soit dans les amities. (Not added any accents to prevent spambot banning me, abeg) |
5boro:if you are looking for anyone to tell you definitively that moving to Canada is the solution to your problem, then you are looking for the wrong person. Ultimately, quitting your cushy job and relocating is a decision you have to arrive at all by yourself. I'll tell you that there are people who were making way more than that in Nigeria, but who still left anyways. Today, some of them are regretting, while some are better off. The question becomes: should the ones regretting start lamenting their decision to move to Canada? That's a question for them to answer, but we all know lamenting gets no one anywhere. We all have to face our problems and try to make things work for us. But the best advice I'll give to you, is that you should temper your expectations and not think that going to Canada will immediately put you in a comfy earning bracket. That's not how these things work. Instead, convince yourself of a better reason to relocate that has nothing to do with money, but with your conviction that Nigeria no longer works for you. Having gotten that out of the way, I'll say starting to read this thread from Page 1 is the best investment of your time. Read up. I'm sure you are smart enough to do that with your engineering degree. Afterwards, learn if you are qualified enough. After establishing that, then determine if you want to take the step. If that's a yes and you are now in the process of taking the step and you are sure it will work out because you met all the requirements to put your CRS score in the 500 range, then start asking yourself how you can transition into a mechanical engineering role in Canada, if that's your goal. You'll find enough resources to do that online. If you are considering changing careers, then also start researching on what it takes to do that. Ask yourself questions; do I need to get certified? Do I need to get additional Canadian education? Do I need to network massively on LinkedIn? Do I need to create a project portfolio that will attract employers and recruiters? Do I need to publish articles or papers to give myself visibility? And so on, and so on. My final advice to you and to everyone who often ask these questions is this: do not come to Canada with expectations. You are starting a new life in a place where nobody knows you. Be measured in your expectation. Nobody should ever relocate for these reasons: to make more money, to find better people, or to find better relationships. These are not things within your power to influence, and even if they are, your power to influence them is very, very limited. Instead, you should relocate because it will make you a better person, it will give you more opportunity for individual growth (not monetary growth), etc. Things that are personal to you, not things that are external to you. This is very important so that you can save yourself from inevitable disappointment. |
Just wondering if it's a normal thing for buildings to increase rent every single year in Canada, when ready to sign a new lease with a tenant? Anyone with this experience? |
The Nigerian government is on a long thing if they think Binance will pay them $10b. Where dem wan see am!? Bunch of jokers. Binance doesn't mind losing Nigerian customers. They make much more elsewhere. They prefer to have their services in the US, than they do in Nigeria. If anything, they'll support a local Nigerian cryptoexchange and buy into that to get a share of the Nigerian market, while exiting Nigeria altogether as Binance. Nowhere in the world should Nigeria expect that they'll dip their hands into their pocket and pay $10b which is nearly 1/6th of BNB marketcap. And if they don't pay, wetin the Nigerian government wan hold? Where is the building or infrastructure they want to hold like they wanted to do with MTN? Internet business is not GSM business. |
Keldurn47:As a lawyer, you'd need to be qualified in Canada to practice there. That's a tough bar to scale from Nigeria. Add to that, you are better favoured for jobs in Canada when you are permanent resident, as opposed to when you are not. Why not start first with applying for express entry? |
evansky:Makes sense. Thanks. |
Cjnick:Could you provide us your background for your visa? Did you have other visas before applying? |

Affiliate01:You are setting yourself up for a lifetime of suffering trying to japa on a visit visa. |
Deering1008:A visa is always a privilege, not a right. You may have a visa and still not be allowed into a country at the border. As long as you are not a citizen of that country, a visa just grants you the privilege to enter another country without getting stopped at the border. And in fact, it may be withdrawn at any time, if they like. Read up on it here |
You go dey trust pastor. Well done! |
AirBay:Depending on the nature of your job, you could even save that in as short as 3 years. Some people have. Add to that, that if you are not crazy with your investments, you can be fairly sure that wherever you put your money is pretty safe, even if you lose a bit of it. Reminds me of the billions young professionals put in Nigerian businesses like Agropartnerships and Crowdyvest, only to lose it all. And the government is there, folding its arms not doing anything about it. Some lost their life savings and there's no word from government regulators. Makes you wonder why anyone would want to trust the country's financial system. |
oluayebenz:I'm sure it's boredom , abroad boredom?Dude literally almost killed a woman some months ago by firing a gun in a club. Yaps against everyone and their father (including his fans) on social media. A couple of instances of canceling shows or concerts without any apology, and in some instances even railing against fans that complained. The guy is just a menace! But trust our suffering and smiling Nigerian compatriots to carry their money and put in his pocket, to pay exorbitant fees for his concert. Sadly, we reward bad behaviour. |
ednut1:I'll continue to question why you guys give your money to this arrogant guy who has no respect for even you his fans |
