AirBay: Apologies first but some of our people are lazy and yes everyone's reality is different.
I came into Canada with a good sum, i mean bulk sum. I bought a small car cash down and started doing ubereats, at the same time I was applying for jobs in my field and looking into ways to grow my income.
Some of our people that came with way less sat at home, spending till account wan red. Then the ranting starts. I saw a newcomer entering Hudson Bay and calvin klein to buy cloth and 2 months down the line e say canada hard..E no see rent to pay
Like someone mentioned if you can afford to stay at home till you get that high paying job, all is well but for people that came on with 10k and still rejecting survival jobs.....dm dy God's hand
I understand there are no jobs like before, but there are lots and lots of survival jobs, you don't have to buy a 10k vehicle to start delivery jobs.
As for people that borrowed money to come...My prayers are with them Good job! Just like I said, the barrier to entry for jobs like skip and ubereats is just too low for anyone to complain. And if one manages to add Ubering and Lyfting, the sky could be the limit temporarily until that lucrative cushy job comes around. And it will as long as one doesn't stop looking. I have too many examples of this exact same path to underestimate its efficacy. In fact, I know friends who have continued to do their Uber/Lyft activites after getting the cushy job, because that self-employment is just too lucrative and flexible to pass on. Yes, it may not be that convenient to do Ubereats on a scooter in a city like Edmonton or Calgary in Alberta. But all it takes is some striving to get a class 5 with proper planning (FRSC letter, etc) to immediately get into doing food delivery in that city or at least Uber proper, as long as you did not game your POF and hope to wing it once you land. Don't even get me started on Toronto. You could even start ubereats there without a vehicle, merely by walking. Canada is hard is a mantra you hear only from those sitting on the couch shooting resumes into the wild. |

njambert: I am networking and attending conferences, and creating some content on linkedin aswell. If any of you have any more suggestions please let me know. These are good ideas. If you have the nerve for it too, create content on YouTube as well, and let that channel form part of your resume as someone who is passionate about sharing technical ideas / content. If you aren't doing it already, also make sure to put it on your CV that you share technical content on LinkedIn, while linking to some of those contents on your resume. |

megastu: No be money dem go take buy car, pay insurance, car maintenance etc. Yes for people who have up to spare 10k you can start but how many have spare $10k after all the expense used in relocating and money set aside for house rent. I don't think you realize there are tons of people doing ubereats and skip in Toronto using a mere bike or scooter. Again, the barrier of entry is way too low for anyone to complain, except they want handouts. |

lastkingsman: You mean finding professional work or all types of work?
I am here thinking with PR one can grab 'menial' jobs first use am hold body until the desired jobs are secured. It looks like Canada is the worst hit oh with this migration struggle. Menial jobs are forever available in Canada. Starting Ubereats, skip, or uber has such low barrier of entry for any PR that anybody that doesn't want to do it and is claiming unemployment is just looking for handouts. |

ednut1: what happened to the proof of funds shown during application?. I advised two friends to go learn French and do express entry instead of coming to study in one of these mushrooms colleges they didn’t listen and are still hell bent on coming with student visa despite not having the tuition/ pof. Canada needs to introduce blocked accounts like Germany at this point. There are those who do gift deeds with their friends or family, collect over 20m that they will return the moment they get the visa. They will then be planning to survive for 3 months on a total savings of 5m from Nigeria. When they get to Canada and they see how much rent is, they have no choice but to take some kind of survival job to survive. Ultimately, this creates unnecessary pressure that will only lead to complaints and complaints in the following months. Having enough money to survive the initial stages in Canada is very important. If possible, plan for one year of not working and surviving comfortably. Not 3 months of barely survivable hustle. |

Jeboy: I don't think so. Visa officers are very careful of denying families of Canadian citizens or PR holders especially where they meet the minimum requirements.
Your submission may have been correct if the brother is just a temporary resident that is working or schooling. That's a valid point |

Talksub: I'm thrilled to share that the long-standing visa denial curse has finally been broken! Today is PPR day!
**Application Timeline:** - **Applied:** December 15, 2023 - **Biometric:** December 21, 2023 - **Passport Request:** July 9, 2024
This is my first time applying to Canada, intending to visit my younger brother. Despite previous visa refusals 2 for the USA, 4 for the UK, and 2 for France), I managed to do the visitor visa application myself, and with God's grace, it was perfected.
**Documents Submitted:** - Brother’s Canada passport page - Invitation letter from my brother - Proof of his address - His paystub (last 3 months) - His utility bills - Sponsorship letter (he will cover my return flight and entertainment costs) - His 1-month bank statement - My leave letter - Proof of employment - my 3-month pay slip - 3-month bank statement - Stanbic pension statement - Money market savings statement - Land documents - Marriage certificate - Photos of my brother and me from our last vacation to Denmark and Switzerland - Photos of my husband and me from our vacation to Dubai - Consent letter from my husband stating I will return after visiting my brother. Letter of explanation detailing my previous visa application denial and how my circumstances has changed (got married , brought a house , got promoted )
Wishing you all the best of luck Very likely your marriage certificate did more of the magic. As a single applicant, you may have stood less chance, regardless of those other impressive documents. COngratulations! |

emmanuelle27: Hello guys, response to this came back today and it was unsuccessful, I have attached the response below, I'll give it a break until whenever I have travel history to any other countries then maybe I'll try again, as at the time I sent this application the amount in my statements when converted was 21,000 Canadian dollars, so I may not buy the generic response on insufficient finances, but I'll just have to believe the counselor officer wasn't convinced I was gonna return and leave it that way till any other time I deem it necessary to apply, will keep observing in the forum to learn what I can improve on and see how I can put up a more solid application next time. Sorry to hear about your denial. Your profile actually looks very solid, but it looks like denials are on the increase now. The sad truth is that a lot of Nigerians who have gone before you have destroyed the trust the visa officers once had. I'm fairly sure some people with the exact same profile as yours (if not better) also failed to return after receiving their visitor visas. |

Hi, sure.
TRV is for my spouse.
Yes, it was rejected cus we were never married even tho refusal letter stated it was cus of financial blablabla...lol
I guess being married and having an evidence (legal proof) to show for it really turn things around this time...lol I figured the same lol. I'm at your 2023 stage right now, sadly. They said "financial blablabla" too. Guess marriage has to happen to make them believe things. Yesterday, July 7, his roommate threw him out and rented the room to another person who will move in the next day, in a shared bedroom... just a 7-day rent delay. That's terrible!! In canada, it's not "just". That 7-day, he should pay interest on top sef. You pay your rent on the first day or before. That's what he must have signed in his lease. |

BarrElChapo: You’re not lying nah… they’re all scammers and scums who use esoteric methods to hypnotize their followers. Well Oyakhilome is expiring already and others will follow suit, then it would be undeniable to everyone. You are so right. They use esoteric methods to hypnotize their adherents. These are some of the most explored techniques that have been used over several centuries by people like Rasputin or Socrates. In fact, if Rasputin had lived in the 2000's and decided to become a pastor, he would have had a congregation as large as Oyedepo's or Adeboye's. Just take a look at Adeboye for example, which of his stupid prophesies have ever come to pass the way he said it? And when you hear some of the things he says, you just wonder if this person has any sense left in him at all. And it is a pity that Nigerians are just a gullible lot who can't help but swallow hook, line and sinker what these guys say, even when the evidence is clear that they are yapping nonsense. We have a long way to go in this country. But there appears to be an unholy friendship between women and pastors. I don't know if it is their emotional bent that drives women to always defer to pastors or to respect them, but women just seem to have high regard for most of these crazy gods of men. If you look at a family, it's always the mother that seems enamoured by what the pastor says. Rarely the father. |

I had to stop critiquing religion, christianity and pastors because she doesn't like it. As someone who has critiqued useless Nigerian pastors all my life, this was difficult to stop. But I had to adjust. I still think pastors, especially Nigerian pastors like Oyedepo, ADeboye and Oyakhliome, are the scum of the earth, but I just hold this thought to myself now. It gets too sensitive when she hears me calling out their horrible habits, decisions and postulations. Anyways, I get to do that online on a site like Nairaland. But with her, we just glide away from the subject and never bring it up.
Point to note: Nigerian pastors and most pastors in general, especially those of the pentecostal faith, are the most useless bunch of criminals the world has ever seen. Next to them are Nigerian politicians. |

Please how many bags is allowed to check-in using Lufthansa airline and also how many kg.
Also is “ghana must go” bag allowed ?
Also do i need transit visa because i will be having a stop over at Frankfurt in germany. Like every other airline, it's 2 bags, each 23kg for economy. For business class, it's different. So, check your ticket. This kind of information is written on your ticket, if you have one. Or you can google it. This is the kind of information you should be able to pull up by yourself. Yes, ghana must go is allowed. Make sure to bag it well and wrap it well. As far as I know, only ethiopian doesn't allow ghana must go. Things may have changed though. If you want to be absolutely sure, call the customer care in Nigeria. They'll pick up and answer this question. No, you don't need a transit visa for Frankfurt, as long as you are not planning to exit the airport or the international terminal. |

The same way some phones are expensive, even though most of buy them use them for no more than texting and calling. It's just status symbol. However, the additional costs come from:
1. sometimes high value gold or diamond is used in the design. Gold and Diamond are naturally expensive and that's factored into the cost 2. sometimes it comes from a high end fashion house, e.g. LV, Patek, etc. Luxury goods are just expensive because they are luxury 3. sometimes only very few are made. That increases demand at low supply. Ultimately driving the price up squarely based on demand 4. Sometimes, they are collector items. Collector items are typically very expensive, even if their value is actually cheap. e.g. some 1 pound coins were once worth only 1 pound. But because they have become collector items and high-value collectors want them, their value goes up. 5. Sometimes, they are custom-made. Custom-made ware are quoted at expensive price by those who make them. |

tshtsh: The black Nigerians I know in Canada are pretty much well behaved although they all have one or two things in common: 1. Moved to Canada in the last 10-15 years 2. The ones who moved here before 2019 came in on a study visa to pursue a masters degree in a university. 2019 and beyond went in via express entry. They were pretty much young (below 30) masters degree holders with professional jobs in Nigeria before moving (consulting, banking, tech, finance...). They are seating well within the Canadian middle income bracket and doing okay.
Between 2022 and now there have been a lot of student migrants attending colleges and doing different things to survive. Time will tell but for now I hear people complaining about Indians and not about blacks. The current wave of express entry immigrants started mainly in 2015. By 2016 it was in full swing. 2019 is a little too late to put it at. |

JESHAL007: DEAR YOUNG GUYS AT THE AGE OF 25 TO 30
Don't make mistakes some of our Fathers or Senior Brothers made.
Marry now with the little you have. Don't wait to be a millionaire, Have kids early so you can grow with them.
Grow with your kids and succeed with your wife. You will never finish making money or achieving your plans.
You might still not succeed at your target year. So start your life early, with consistency you will grow.
My father said this to me: _When i was 25, i was talking about making billions before i marry.
Many years later, billions didn't come, yet no kid no wife... I had an opportunity to marry the most beautiful love of my life very early, But my fear was, can i really take care of her? But right now She's married with Four grown up children.
The guy that married her was still schooling then, but had the courage. They worked hard and succeeded together. I failed, so please if you can feed yourself, you can feed your wife. You have to believe it, marry early, don't wait.
Don't make our mistakes, I see my childhood friends play with their kids..
Most of them are not doing as well as me.. But they are happier with their families..
Trust me it isn't money only, but Rather your Maturity, your happiness depends entirely on your wisdom and the way you Handle Life. With a well planned life they are happier.
Trust me it
isn't money, What is our problem?
Build mansion, buy the latest Car in Town, marry Sharon stone type, but still we don't have those things we dreamt of, and of course the years we wasted, we can never have them neverrrr!!!_
Please don't be 60yrs old and your kids will still be in their 20's..What are you supposed to be at that age? Their grand father.
Please young men, take my advice seriously.
Marry, don't be afraid, that girl you are finding too many fault in has many good qualities if you look well.
#what is your take on this Absolute nonsense. Anyone should marry at the age that they feel comfortable marrying. I mean, let's hear the reasons advocated here: - to be able to play with your kids? Are you a clown or Barney the dinosaur? Your kids have a life of their own. No one's dream should ever be to be able to play with their kids. Play with adults your age, if you want to play. Instead, talk to your kids and share wisdom with them at any age you are. It doesn't matter if you are 60 and they are 20. At 60, there must be more you have learnt about life that you can share with them, so that they don't make financial or emotional mistakes. One thing you must never forget is that, your kids have a life of their own. You have no business living their life. Live your own life and make your own experiences. Let them live theirs. Don't forget that at 27-30, they probably want nothing to do with you anymore. They will have their own friends, girlfriends and lovers. If you don't build your own life, who will you be playing Power Rangers with then? Your kids? Damn! Make your own experiences. -you didn't marry the love of your life at a young age and now she has four grown up children? Okay, so what? You were consumed with teenage love and you thought going head first into that was the best thing you could have done? That's again nonsense. Who said you would have turned out right for the lady in question? What if you became miserable with this so-called love of your life? The most important thing in marriage is to attain the level of financial and emotional maturity you want to be at before dabbling into it. Comparing yourself and your live with others is the greatest pitfall any man can make. Thinking your friends all have grown-up kids and you are still struggling with infants is comparing yourself with others. No one who thinks like this should ever be respected by society. Chart your own course and be your own person. Make your own decisions and ensure they are the best for you and your situation. Keeping up with the jones for the sake of appearances is just the next step towards ultimate depression. The only thing I agree with in this article is not wait until you have all the money before thinking of marriage, if you want to marry. No one ever makes enough money. You will always want to make more, and that more can never be enough. So, if you are waiting to make enough money before getting married, you are making a big mistake. Nevertheless, if you feel you are genuinely not financially mature to get married, then you should wait until you are. For example, if you are quick to run to Sportybet anytime you have good amount of money you should be investing in your future, then you are not financially mature. You should probably not be considering marriage. If you think you are too emotionally insecure to be checking your partner's phone mutliple times in a day, then you should probably not be considering marriage. In other words, ensure you are ready. It doesn't matter if that age if 25, 40, or 60. It's your decision to make, not the society's. |
