Apologies first but some of our people are lazy and yes everyone's reality is different.

I came into Canada with a good sum, i mean bulk sum. I bought a small car cash down and started doing ubereats, at the same time I was applying for jobs in my field and looking into ways to grow my income.

Some of our people that came with way less sat at home, spending till account wan red. Then the ranting starts. I saw a newcomer entering Hudson Bay and calvin klein to buy cloth and 2 months down the line e say canada hard..E no see rent to pay

Like someone mentioned if you can afford to stay at home till you get that high paying job, all is well but for people that came on with 10k and still rejecting survival jobs.....dm dy God's hand

I understand there are no jobs like before, but there are lots and lots of survival jobs, you don't have to buy a 10k vehicle to start delivery jobs.

Just like I said, the barrier to entry for jobs like skip and ubereats is just too low for anyone to complain. And if one manages to add Ubering and Lyfting, the sky could be the limit temporarily until that lucrative cushy job comes around. And it will as long as one doesn't stop looking.
I have too many examples of this exact same path to underestimate its efficacy. In fact, I know friends who have continued to do their Uber/Lyft activites after getting the cushy job, because that self-employment is just too lucrative and flexible to pass on.
Yes, it may not be that convenient to do Ubereats on a scooter in a city like Edmonton or Calgary in Alberta. But all it takes is some striving to get a class 5 with proper planning (FRSC letter, etc) to immediately get into doing food delivery in that city or at least Uber proper, as long as you did not game your POF and hope to wing it once you land. Don't even get me started on Toronto. You could even start ubereats there without a vehicle, merely by walking. Canada is hard is a mantra you hear only from those sitting on the couch shooting resumes into the wild.

These are good ideas. If you have the nerve for it too, create content on YouTube as well, and let that channel form part of your resume as someone who is passionate about sharing technical ideas / content. If you aren't doing it already, also make sure to put it on your CV that you share technical content on LinkedIn, while linking to some of those contents on your resume.

No be money dem go take buy car, pay insurance, car maintenance etc. Yes for people who have up to spare 10k you can start but how many have spare $10k after all the expense used in relocating and money set aside for house rent.

I don't think you realize there are tons of people doing ubereats and skip in Toronto using a mere bike or scooter. Again, the barrier of entry is way too low for anyone to complain, except they want handouts.

I am here thinking with PR one can grab 'menial' jobs first use am hold body until the desired jobs are secured. It looks like Canada is the worst hit oh with this migration struggle.

Menial jobs are forever available in Canada. Starting Ubereats, skip, or uber has such low barrier of entry for any PR that anybody that doesn't want to do it and is claiming unemployment is just looking for handouts.

I advised two friends to go learn French and do express entry instead of coming to study in one of these mushrooms colleges they didn’t listen and are still hell bent on coming with student visa despite not having the tuition/ pof. Canada needs to introduce blocked accounts like Germany at this point.

There are those who do gift deeds with their friends or family, collect over 20m that they will return the moment they get the visa. They will then be planning to survive for 3 months on a total savings of 5m from Nigeria. When they get to Canada and they see how much rent is, they have no choice but to take some kind of survival job to survive. Ultimately, this creates unnecessary pressure that will only lead to complaints and complaints in the following months. Having enough money to survive the initial stages in Canada is very important. If possible, plan for one year of not working and surviving comfortably. Not 3 months of barely survivable hustle.

I don't think so. Visa officers are very careful of denying families of Canadian citizens or PR holders especially where they meet the minimum requirements.

Your submission may have been correct if the brother is just a temporary resident that is working or schooling.

Hello guys, response to this came back today and it was unsuccessful, I have attached the response below, I'll give it a break until whenever I have travel history to any other countries then maybe I'll try again, as at the time I sent this application the amount in my statements when converted was 21,000 Canadian dollars, so I may not buy the generic response on insufficient finances, but I'll just have to believe the counselor officer wasn't convinced I was gonna return and leave it that way till any other time I deem it necessary to apply, will keep observing in the forum to learn what I can improve on and see how I can put up a more solid application next time.

Sorry to hear about your denial. Your profile actually looks very solid, but it looks like denials are on the increase now. The sad truth is that a lot of Nigerians who have gone before you have destroyed the trust the visa officers once had. I'm fairly sure some people with the exact same profile as yours (if not better) also failed to return after receiving their visitor visas.

Yes, it was rejected cus we were never married even tho refusal letter stated it was cus of financial blablabla...lol

Yesterday, July 7, his roommate threw him out and rented the room to another person who will move in the next day, in a shared bedroom... just a 7-day rent delay. That's terrible!!

In canada, it's not "just". That 7-day, he should pay interest on top sef. You pay your rent on the first day or before. That's what he must have signed in his lease.

Have you considered driving for Uber, ubereats or skip?
Have you considered going to any local Amazon fulfillment center to ask for availability?

The black Nigerians I know in Canada are pretty much well behaved although they all have one or two things in common:
1. Moved to Canada in the last 10-15 years
2. The ones who moved here before 2019 came in on a study visa to pursue a masters degree in a university. 2019 and beyond went in via express entry. They were pretty much young (below 30) masters degree holders with professional jobs in Nigeria before moving (consulting, banking, tech, finance...). They are seating well within the Canadian middle income bracket and doing okay.

Between 2022 and now there have been a lot of student migrants attending colleges and doing different things to survive. Time will tell but for now I hear people complaining about Indians and not about blacks.

The current wave of express entry immigrants started mainly in 2015. By 2016 it was in full swing. 2019 is a little too late to put it at.

Play with adults your age, if you want to play. Instead, talk to your kids and share wisdom with them at any age you are. It doesn't matter if you are 60 and they are 20. At 60, there must be more you have learnt about life that you can share with them, so that they don't make financial or emotional mistakes. One thing you must never forget is that, your kids have a life of their own. You have no business living their life. Live your own life and make your own experiences. Let them live theirs. Don't forget that at 27-30, they probably want nothing to do with you anymore. They will have their own friends, girlfriends and lovers. If you don't build your own life, who will you be playing Power Rangers with then? Your kids? Damn! Make your own experiences.

The only thing I agree with in this article is not wait until you have all the money before thinking of marriage, if you want to marry. No one ever makes enough money. You will always want to make more, and that more can never be enough. So, if you are waiting to make enough money before getting married, you are making a big mistake. Nevertheless, if you feel you are genuinely not financially mature to get married, then you should wait until you are. For example, if you are quick to run to Sportybet anytime you have good amount of money you should be investing in your future, then you are not financially mature. You should probably not be considering marriage. If you think you are too emotionally insecure to be checking your partner's phone mutliple times in a day, then you should probably not be considering marriage. In other words, ensure you are ready.
