Good morning everyone please i really need experts advise.

For the past 3weeks my mazda protege 2000 has refused to start, when i took the first rewire there, he discovered the car is not shocking, he said it was the shocking sensor which i got another one and fixed inside, yet it won't start, i felt the first rewire was incompetent and i took another rewire there, he said the brainbox(ECU) is faulty, we went to ladipo to get another brainbox, which eventually works well, the car shocks well and fuel pump starts working without passing wire directly for it, but yet it won't start, the rewire told me to called on to a mechanic that i should check the timing belt maybe it has jumped or rippled, i called my mechanic he checked the timing belt and noticed the timing belt adjuster is bad, we got another one yet it won't start, please i really need help and advice from people that has had similar problems with car before, Gurus in the house please help me.

Vehicle needs 3 things to start, SPARK, AIR and FUEL if the three checks out, scan the vehicle first it will point you in the right direction

UPDATE: My car was scanned and prodded at Kojo Motors for almost 2 hours as seen in the attached picture. The report came back that my 3 catalysts are intact! Infact, I was shocked. Why would the Magodo mechanic then emphatically say that the middle catalyst was missing? The Panel beater said "I told you so!". So, my stance moving forward is to be scanning car like it is pregnant every single time it goes to a mechanic I am still trying to find. A part of me wants to do another car assessment because I still dont get why that Magodo mechanic made such an uproar incessantly about missing catalyst. Thank God the money I paid for a repair which he didnt do reversed.

simple you will ask the price to replace and he did bill you to use the money flex or pay children school fees

i told you b4 that the reasons he gave for catalyst removal is nonsense. Good mechanics are plenty all over Nigeria especially kazeems i normally use. Yes they may over bill me for work and buying parts but they do a good job and as a reference i always demand the handover of replacement parts, if i like i may then hand it over to them to do whatever but anything you receive money for, you must show me before fixing it.

1. what code is showing they removed the catalyst

2. did they weld a straight pipe to replace the catalyst?

3. what sign did he see that he was sure they removed the vehicle catalyst.

They used mud and sand to cover bolt, nah that be the reason they removed catalyst? the mechanic nah clown

2013/2014 RX350, 2014/2015 Toyota highlander or GX 460.....considering reliability, luxury and class.

RX350 is identical to highlander only that the RX is more luxurious and has 3rd row seats as an option compared to the highlander.

if fueling isnt an issue, the GX is a good vehicle to own too just that fueling and maintenance cost would be more expensive than the other options.

No idea of the cost but a 330i of same generation cost 40m, the 340i should exceed that by a little margin

i believe that is an F30 BMW 2015 to 2019 model years.

It was fitted with a B48B20 engine which is a 4cylinder turbo charged engine. Dont know whats with you and turbo engines

from research i got online, it is a fairly reliable vehicle and
1. Expect gasket replacement after 100k miles which are very hard to get to meaning, it is an expensive fix and should be done by a qualified technician "if the need arises"
2. The turbo according to users online is rated at 140k miles before you may need to replace, not always the norm though.
3. from the car repair group that i belong, finding BMW parts is always easy in cities like Lagos , Abuja and PH brand new, though they are somehow expensive.
4. BMW is very rare to come by because they are expensive to maintain and they require premium gas and fluid, though maybe dangote petrol can help with better octane fuel.

for me i would have preferred you pick a 340i, with the straight 6 turbo charged engine, more balanced, more refined and highly reliable.

That vehicle was fitted with the M274 a 2.0 turbo charged 4-cylinder which was known to have a piston defect for the US market. Maybe you should do a C400.

Also I am not a fan of turbo charged vehicles not to talk of one that is a 4-cylinder but ensure
1. You do a VIN check for the specimen you intend to buy, to confirm if the engine was part of the defective one and if it has been fixed under warranty

2. You can comfortably afford the maintenance cost interms of the oil and original recommended fluids

3. There are capable hands near your location to handle maintenance and fix.

There is no replacement for hearts desire though, because the Benz badge is premium, but you can check a Lexus ES or GS they are close in terms of luxury

BMW has been my dream car especially the M3 or M4 but I don't know much about it's durability, maintenance and also if it can breakdown bad when it goes into a water puddle just like some Benz

And maybe a comparison between the M3(2018) and Dodge charger (2015-2018) would be appreciated

I dont expect someone who can afford such car to have problem with maintenance. If money isnt an issue the BMW is a better car to drive than a dodge charger, the BMW does everything better.

But when you have bought it, i would advice you have a medium scan tool to atleast scan for error codes on your own to pickup minor issues b4 it blows to high proportion,

you must also have a modern garage to for regular and timely maintenance and fix

you should also have funds available to avoid expensive fixes when you begin experience minor issues.

Above all, these cars are not what one should be pulling everyday, they are meant for occasional joy rides like weekends, special occasions, so it would last if you have an everyday car other than one of these choices.

Budget cars with low maintenance and you put Toyota there car parts are generally expensive but Toyota and Lexus parts are far expensive in all segments.

Also there is no cheap vehicle to maintain in Nigeria, no matter how careful you are, the roads themselves will damage the car and don't let me add fuel prices cause those fuel efficient cars are around 40L and full tank can only do two weeks tops to and from work. That's 60 to 80k of fuel monthly.
