Crime / Re: List Of Prisons In Nigeria: Facts And Locations by NurseJP(m): 10:03pm On Jan 29
Great article. During my NYSC in Abuja , I did a project Medicare for Prison Inmates at Kuje. The protocols and corruption in the system often deter good people from helping prisoners in Nigeria. Officials always looking for ways to enrich their pockets. If you leave medications for the clinic, they end up selling them. Upon getting an insider information from an inmate, we left with remaining medications for subsequent outreaches instead of donating to the prison clinic. What a pity.

Travel / Re: Should I Keep My Federal Job Or Travel to the U.K by NurseJP(m): 6:23pm On Jan 03
mistacoco2:
Hello guys,

For some days now I have been on a serious dilemma whether to resign from my federal government job that pays me above N200k for my current position and migrate to the UK or stay in naija and set up a business to augment my salary. I will be 34 years next year, I feel traveling to the uk for studies next year September will delay my chances of getting married, as I have planned not exceeding 34 years without getting married.

I belong to the school of thought that believes can make it in Nigeria despite all odds. However, considering the economic realities of the country, I have recently contemplating of japa and maybe get a Nigerian lady for marriage after my studies.

Please I earnestly need matured advice from you guys to know how to start the coming year.

Cc:Justwise

The problem with Nigerian economy is that the money is without value. Take for instance, Naira to pounds is currently trading at #1500/£ and with this rate £200 is #300k, money someone in the UK can make more than in a day just doing 12 hrs shift. Also , considering family dynamics. Travelling apart from the financial reward, quality of life for you and the children, safety of lives and property, quality education for them and unlimited opportunities. You may have to reconsider your decision especially if you have a clear plan/job, one year is sufficient to build fund to marry and raise a family.

Health / Re: I Went To See A Doctor Today Because Of My Illness And This Happened by NurseJP(m): 12:55pm On Aug 22, 2023
You did malaria test and Widal for typhoid. Malaria is negative as no malaria parasite was seen. The titre value for the typhoid is less than 1: 180 and hence assumed to be normal. ( deranged if greater than)

Regarding treatment: you need a doctor as the symptoms you’re presenting ,history taking and examination will guide the doctor on line of treatment. Please you can ask for another doctor to review your results and start your treatment. Wishing you quick recovery.

It was a hard fought win. Arsenal are not yet up to their level as of last season, poor clinical finish and energy. Thank God we were able to defend the goal after the red card. We need improvement!

Family / Re: Please Parent Know This And Be Careful by NurseJP(m): 4:51pm On Jun 15, 2023
My decision to study nursing divided my family into two. To some, it is not a reputable course as they WISHED I study medicine( I would have been frustrated due to lack of finance). They said loads of things without knowing that I had it figured out. My plan was quite simple, as an individual from an average Nigerian household, I needed a course that I can easily get employment upon graduation. Furthermore, access to global market was there as nurses are well sought after in various countries provided you’re able to pass all relevant examinations which to me ain’t a problem. I defied all odds, got admission into Imo state department of nursing science and school of Nursing Nkpor and settled for university education. Gave it my all, graduated top of my class and set a record for the first individual to be awarded a “first class honours” in the department. Did my NYSC in Abuja, learnt a lot to sharpen my clinical skills and was retained in the emergency department and currently working at the global market as I envisaged. Happily married before 30 and have a son to look after. God always make a way and I must say that both the DREAM and the DREAMER are valid, we should always go for what we want. My dad of blessed memory has great mind to picture the future and hence always supported us to go for what we love. May God keep resting your soul my big man!

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What Does It Take One To Work In A Mortuary? by NurseJP(m): 3:55pm On Dec 20, 2022
Working in the morgue takes some form of bravery, I took time to research on embalming and preservation of corpse. I am a nurse and have touched dead bodies in the course of my work. Recently my dad passed and I went to the morgue to see him upon my return to the country as I had to deliver the casket and clothing for his burial . Upon entering the morgue, it is a world of its own. Different sizes and gender at different stages of preservation littered all over the place. Life is I deed nothing!

Confused government, how can you tax an asset you never believed in and called it a scam without understanding the basics of blockchain technology. Until a country accept crypto currency as a legal tender, they don’t have any moral right to lay tax claims on it.

My guy who is also a nurse got NAF Direct short service, I discouraged him from taking up that role. He is the only son. Currently we are practicing in the UK as Nurses. Nigeria is not safe for someone to walk into his grave with clear eye in the name of military jobs.

Career / Re: Why Don’t Nigerian Employers Adopt Hourly Pay? by NurseJP(m): 12:49pm On Aug 01, 2022
This is a very interesting topic.
As someone within the healthcare, I worked in Nigeria before taking my career to the UK, there are challenges why hourly pay may not work in Nigeria.

At work in Nigeria, there is usually a downtime in which people stay in the office practically doing nothing and overstaying breaks. Over here you’re always busy from resumption till the closing time and break times are clearly defined and adhered to.

Electronic clock in helps to prevent truancy, in Nigerian offices people often leave work with frivolous excuses like… I want to deposit or withdraw from the bank, and may waste hours there… so hourly payment in this situation is unjustified.

Also, organisations abroad run in chains like multiple outlets thereby to a reasonable extent guarantee sales and cash flow which is not the same in Nigeria as salaries are derived from sales at the end of the month.

Poor economy in the country is affecting businesses as many are at loss jobs or struggling to survive. Unstable economy will warrant employers to be changing the hourly rates frequently.

The politics in Nigeria is beyond mere speculation and permutations.

If we need someone with potential to turn things around, I strongly believe that H.E Peter Obi is the right man for the job. But Politics of money won't allow the poor masses to see beyond their nose.

We can only advocate for good governance by doing our bits. Quite unfortunate that illiterates are more in number and to a reasonable extent determine who becomes the president.

Family / Re: 12 Things To Say No To In Your Marriage by NurseJP(m): 7:58am On Jan 16, 2022
I recently got married. All I can say is,for marriage to work, there must be sincerity of purpose. Marry because you're ready and believe in your partner to work as a team and walk the long road of marriage holding hands. Always take the advice of your partner, you can modify it a bit and let them know every decision made. It saves stress in marriage.

Also, always think of your partner first,he or she is your priority, not your parents, not your siblings because when the night comes, who are you gonna share the bed with? Definitely your wife/husband.
As a Christian, PRAYER is very important in everyday life

Nigeria and double standard, the same prison they said phone and photoghy is not allowed.

I did NYSC personal project at KUJE prison and they didn't allow me to document the event .
I needed to not for myself glory but because of my donors on Facebook so they don't think I mismanaged the funds.

Thank God for the ability to build integrity over the years and sending someone from NEWS Agency of Nigeria to interview volunteers after the event.

I'm a male nurse and I derive joy in my craft, while working in Abuja a young female patient tried flirting with me " I know you joined nursing so as to be seeing fresh bum bum while giving injections "
That was in the year 2019 when I was working towards gaining international professional registration(naija pay was disheartening), I just smiled in my mind "Aunty ,my ambition is not to be seeing bum bum but to get to the peak of my career"

I didn't get BGS by goofing around, thank God today I have UK nursing registration in the Bag as of today, working in an environment where everyoneis accountablefor his or her inactions, maybe I will look for another western country to conquer.
