U spoke well but I still have my reservation. I'm not holding brief for any form of violence for whatever reason, be it the action or the reprisal. But what u should know is that, if the new BH leader make good his promise by attacking christians and churches in the north (God forbid) leading to reprisal by the ND militants (God forbid also), the consequences will be very bad for the country but will be felt more by the southerners because the number of Northerners and Mosques in the South is by far lower than the number of southerners and churches in the north. For instance, I understand that the only places u can see mosques in the South East are in military barracks but there are as much churches in Kanu as in Imo state and in the whole of Sapele (my personal observation ) there is just one Mosque. So the best thing which will favour u and I is to contribute in our own little ways either through this forum or otherwise to forestall such tragedy because only God knows who and who will end up as cannon fodders. What I'm saying in summary is that let's stop faning the embers of either civil or religious crises in this country.

Now get it clearly. The US DOLLAR is a currency that is acceptable all over the world at the BDC. Currencies like pounds and some few other ones are also equally acceptable. Currencies like Naira, Yen, Sefa, Ruppees, etc are not generally accepted all over the world. Of these globally acceptable currencies, the USD is the one officially approved by Nigeria govt. If, for instance, u are travelling to Japan for an official assignment,the govt wouldn't pay u in Japanese Yen or Pounds if is Britain, even though the pounds is globally acceptable. What u will get is the USD. is it clear to u now?

To me, the Christians even got a better exchange rate than the Muslims. Reason? When it was approved for the Christians, the official exchange rate was 197/$ and 160/$ was approved for them. This, to me is a subsidy but when it was approved for the Muslims (about 3 months ago), the official rate was still 197/$ and the intending pilgrims had paid to the government through their respective state pilgrimage boards and the money was kept at the rate of 197/$ not 160/$ (no subsidy). This money was saved at the then official rate but in dollars. If you had $1000 in a domiciliary account about one yr ago, is it not the same $1000 u still have in that account today? So what is it?

Compulsory in the sense that parents who fail to comply will face disciplinary action like fine or imposition of tax to the non compliant ones. If u have a child and u don't want to send him to school, that child is a potential liability and as such u should pay tax. This is the approach adopted by the Late Obafemi Awolowo of blessed memory in the Western Region then which accounts for the high number of the highly educated Westerners.
