lilytender: Yes, he embezzled enough when he was veepee. You do not know Ekwueme, do you? Even the judicial tribunal that probed him after the coup publicly declared, "Dr. Ekwueme left office poorer than he was when he entered it, and to ask more from him was to set a standard which even saints could not meet." |

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday ordered that ailing former Vice President Alex Ekwueme be flown abroad for medical treatment.
According to a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President gave the order after he received a brief on the medical condition of the former Vice President.
Shehu explained that the approval given by Buhari would cover the cost of chartering an air ambulance for the journey and the cost of his treatment.
The statement read, “President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate medical treatment of former Vice-President, Dr Alex Ekwueme, outside the country. “The approval followed a brief the President received Friday on the medical condition of the former Vice-President.
“The approval covers the immediate charter of an Air Ambulance for the emergency movement and the cost of treatment. “President Buhari prays that God will grant the elder statesman speedy recovery.”

Politics › Niger Delta Avengers Calls Off Ceasefire With Nigerian Gov't by nwabobo(op): 5:18pm On Nov 03, 2017 |
The Niger Delta Avengers, a group of militants that struck oil installations in Niger Delta region last year, has announced an immediate end to its ceasefire with the Nigerian government. In a statement posted on its website Friday afternoon, the group said it would resume hostilities any day from now, saying the Buhari administration has not been sincere with its peace talks and promises for the Niger Delta. The group also condemned a former top militant in the region, Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a. Tompolo, saying he had failed to live up to his leadership roles for those who seek absolute “emancipation” for the region. The statement was signed by the group’s spokesperson, named Mudoch Agbinibo, who also announced a string of successful attacks on oil and gas facilities that sent major international oil firms like Shell and Chevron deferring activities last year. The group also named the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, as one of Nigerian government’s loyalists sabotaging its cause. The militants have not carried out any major attack since the beginning of this year. Details soon… http://saharareporters.com/2017/11/03/niger-delta-avengers-calls-ceasefire-nigerian-govt |

Can you believe a .3% difference between Osun and Anambra would bother them so much. Oxford and UN are Liars in their mind suddenly. Have you considered the fact that most upwardly mobile cum wealthy South Easterners live outside the South East and would therefore be included in the indices of those area. That the 'poor' folks they left behind are giving other zones which are apparently boosted by the influx of well to do South Easterners a run for their money should be worrying to you and your ilks. |

Politics › Re: SGF: Again, Buhari Fails To Play Father Figure — OHANAEZE by nwabobo: 10:59am On Nov 02, 2017 |
lilytender: The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, the Ohanaeze yesterday frowned at what it called the continued refusal of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint a South Easterner the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, even after the ruling party zoned it to the region.
In a statement signed by Ohanaeze President General, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, the body said that the President has failed again to play the father figure which his office demands in presiding over a plural and divergent society as ours, adding that the President’s action has further denied the people of the region a strong place in the executive arm of the administration.
Nwodo expressed regret that the President by his action has failed to seize the opportunity of running an inclusive government and assuaging the feelings of Ndigbo by side tracking them again in the appointment of the SGF. “It also shows the President’s insensitivity to the over flogged issue of marginalization of Ndigbo by his administration. “We had thought that the recent meeting of South East leaders with the President at the Aso Rock Villa opened an avenue for a new relationship with the zone which appointing an SGF from the area would have helped to cement especially as the ruling party originally zoned the position to the region.
According to Chief Nwodo, the President’s remarks on the South East Ministers in his cabinet during the meeting could not have been a good reason to continue sidetracking them of a position zoned to them especially when such appointment would have helped to heal wounds and reconcile a disgruntled people. Chief Nwodo said it’s saddening that the President who has had the enviable opportunity of working across the country in his military career and has been a huge player in the polity for almost two decades, cannot find somebody from the South East he can trust for the SGF position. The Ohanaeze finally urged the President to open his mind and have a positive attitude about Ndigbo whose contributions to the socio economic and political development of the country is not in doubt.
