Politics › Re: Lets Put An End To This Argument Finally - Igbo Developed Lagos by nwabobo: 8:00pm On Nov 20, 2017*. Modified: 9:04pm On Nov 20, 2017 |
hotwax: An Igbo indigene has never been the governor of Lagos state till date, therefore any development happening or has happened in the past should be attributed to Lagos present and past leaders (Yorubas). Lagos development was traced back to Portuguese merchants and British colonialist using Lagos as port and administrative centre before the discovery oil. Lagos has been the most developed land before the era of ground nut pyramid, oil boom and Igbo/Hausa immigrants. Then, the word Nigeria was never in existence.
So how did Igbo built Lagos? Igbos are known for businesses like clothing shops, spare parts, and other street hawking business. Can these businesses develop Lagos? Yes, they can contribute to the development of Lagos but not the large Chunk of development. The way Igbo’s are into Spare Part and all, we also have Chinese, Lebanese, Indians traders in Lagos paying tax, yet they are not claiming to be solely developing Lagos.
Tax DSTV, MTN paying to Lagos state per month is more that the tax of 50,000 Igbo traders.
For enlightenment, these are the businesses making Lagos.
MTN, GLO, DSTV, schlumberger, Lever Brothers, Unilevers, Indo foods, FirstBank, GTBANK, TOTAL, Samsung, EKO Hotel, Cocacola and thousands of multinational firms.
With their tax alone, Lagos can develop at its own pace.
Finally, all tribes are contributing to the development of Lagos state. I know some mallams from Kano who have invested Billions in Lagos. Look out for Lagos Bureau de change. I have not seen any Hausa man claiming to built Lagos alone. Yorubas may be the dominating tribe, but Lagos was not built by Yorubas alone.
Yorubas are just beneficiary of the nature of Lagos. Sea, Port and Population.
Have your say. If the millions of Igbo traders don't bank with GTB, UBA, Zenith bank etc, how will the banks generate tax for the state? How will the banks employ people who then pay PAYE tax to the state? If the millions of Igbo traders do not own shops in various markets, how would the LG authorities generate levies and rates from the markets? If the millions of Igbo businesses do not use MTN, Glo and Airtel, how will those companies generate tax for the state? If the millions of Igbo traders who own properties in Lagos do not own properties in Lagos, how much would the state generate in property tenement rates? If the millions of Igbo traders do not pay 'owo da' to area boys aka omo oniles, how will the omo oniles feed and send their children to school? Ponder on these few points. |

Politics › Re: Anambra Election: APC Blasts Southeast Leaders by nwabobo: 10:48pm On Nov 19, 2017 |
Spiritualism: Anambra Election: APC Blasts Southeast Leaders
The leadership of APC Youths Renaissance deeply regrets the abysmal performance of our party in the just concluded Anambra State Governorship election despite all the assurances given to leaders and members of the party by Tony Nwoye and the Southeast leaders of the party.
Before the election, all necessary logistics were given to the leaders of the party in the zone to deliver victory to APC, but it looked as if such logistics were diverted as it did not get to the intended people in the region.
How on earth can anyone explain the rational behind the 21/21 victory of APGA in all the 21 Local Government Areas of Anambra State?
Even Tony Nwoye, Chris Ngige, Uche Ekwunife, Andy Ubah and the rest could not deliver their own local governments to APC!
However, the election has exposed the insincerity of the so-called leaders of the party in the region.
Instead of executing an all inclusive campaigns involving all members of the party, some 'election-cabals' wanting to impress Buhari and get special favour from the Presidency adopted 'divide and rule strategy.'
They shared party resources among themselves without carrying critical segments of the party along.
In particular, Comrade Tony Nwoye was carrying himself as Governor-elect without listening to wise advice and suggestions.
As a result, their greeds and lack of coordination have cost APC the much needed victory in Anambra State.
Therefore, we urge President Buhari to disregard all their lies and excuses as likely reasons why APC under-performed in the race.
Subsequently, we ask President Buhari to raise new leaders from the zone who will handle his re-election project in the Southeast region come 2019.
Signed:
Mr. Collins Edwin, National Secretary, APC Youths Renaissance

victorvezx: The boycott was a failure. Simple. Obiano won because people voted for him, not because of a boycott that did not work What percentage of registered voters turned out to vote in 2013 and what percentage turned out to vote thus year? Intelligent people argue based on data. |
Politics › Re: Was The Anambra Election Boycott Successful? by nwabobo: 12:51pm On Nov 19, 2017 |
victorvezx: Anambra always have low turnout, Obiano votes alone is expected to surpass 200,000, far more than that of 2013, back when Ipob and Nnamdi Kanu was not even known. And there was no Biafra agitation or boycott in 2013, but turnout was still low. Ipob election boycott was a massive failure. Here is election results from just 17 local government, it's remaining 4 The boycott handed Obiano the victory. |

Obi1kenobi: You're being deliberately stupid. The simple point others have made which you keep ignoring in your ramblings is that elections have always witnessed low turnout. Whether a bunch of IPOB miscreants declared a boycott or not for their mindless sheep to follow, the turnout will still be low. From all indications, roughly the same number of voters are expected in the final tally as in 2013 elections and APGA will actually get far more than 180,000 votes they got in 2013. For anyone using his brains, this already means the much-hyped boycott was an abysmal failure.
Even if only 10,000 people voted, the boycott would have still been a failure after the "no referendum, no election" and even the "vote and die"rubbish. But there will be over 400,000 votes which is the same trend as 2013. That is a resounding failure. Use your damn, god-given brains. Your analysis is flawed. There were 1.7M voters in Anambra in 2013, there are 2.1M now. Voters turnout in 2013 was about 450k, let's wait for the total figures for this year before we can then compare percentage turnout in both elections and then draw inferences. Empirical evidence suggests the ill thought out boycott had a big impact. |

igbodefender: I went out to a grocery store run by my friend Ibrahim to buy Ijebu garri. If you are an expert at soaking garri with groundnut, you will know that Ijebu garri has this distinct taste that goes very well on the taste buds when garnished with sugar and cold water.
You see, I had bought a bottle of groundnut yesterday, and seeing the way the groundnut was reducing at an alarming rate (Mama Efe can roast groundnut that you'll become addicted to), I decided not to let this opportunity to soak garri pass me by.
So, at Ibrahim's shop, after I ordered my Ijebu garri, I noticed that he was reprimanding someone for tying the garri too small!
I quickly intervened on behalf of the person, but Ibrahim insisted that the garri was tied too small as the price of garri had come down. Then what he did next suprised me. He started opening the satchets of garri and adding more garri.
The garri I finally bought was double the amount of what I had bought a few months ago at the same price! For that, I say Well done Buhari! Your identity is gradually coming to the fore. Igbodefender my foot. |
