The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide on Saturday charged the Federal Government to ensure that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is arraigned in court on October 21.

The Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, made the call in a statement in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

He said the federal government’s failure to arraign Kanu in court would mar the Anambra State governorship election slated for November 6.

The IPOB leader, who is detained by the Department of State Services (DSS), was arraigned by the government on an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism, and illegal possession of firearms, among others at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Isiguzoro noted that the activist’s arraignment would end the unrest in the South-East.

He slammed the South-East governors for failing to address the challenges in the region.

The statement read: “The practical steps to ensure peaceful Anambra governorship elections devoid of any kind of violence and chaotic uneasiness is for Federal Government to produce Nnamdi Kanu to face his trials in court without further delay.

“We are ashamed to admit that some of the South-East governors are now spokesmen for the Presidential Villa. Their public postures and assertions depicted cajolery to the traditional norms and cultural heritage of what Igbo is known for.

“We are embarrassed by the way these governors grant interviews without any consideration of the negative impacts and consequences of their utterances to the public. These shows of shame must end instantly.

“We are disgusted by the discovery through the Governor of Anambra, Willie Obiano, that President Muhammadu Buhari is not in the know or approved of the presidential threats to declare a state of emergency in Anambra.

“Our suspicion is reinforced by these findings. There are also the possibilities that President Buhari is not aware of the wavering in the arraignment of Nnamdi Kanu in court, and the office of Attorney General should dispute the facts that the office had not been hijacked for rogue operations against the South-East.

“If Federal Government fails to produce Nnamdi Kanu in court on October 21, 2021, subsequently, it will be a breeding ground for various reasons why Anambra elections might be marred with irregularities and violence.”

Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, has said that Nigerians must under the education and training of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to understand his effect on governance.

The minister stated this in a documentary titled, ‘The Buhari Effect: Undeniable Achievements’, which was aired on Channels Television on Saturday evening.

The one-hour documentary chronicled some of the “achievements” of the Buhari regime across sectors of governance including infrastructure development, housing, agriculture, transportation, health, amongst others.

Speaking during the documentary, Fashola, a former two-term Lagos governor, said, “The best way to under the Buhari effect is to understand the man himself and appreciate his connection in a simple way to the most vulnerable members of our society.

“It is also to understand his education and his training.

“When you go back to his previous enterprise in government, whether as a much young officer, as GOC (General Officer Commanding) or as military governor or as Minister for Petroleum or as Chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, you will understand what the man is all about,” he said.

Controversies had surrounded Buhari’s academic credentials as opposition Peoples Democratic Party had, on October 26, challenged Buhari to show proof of his integrity by presenting his academic credentials “if he has any,” to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has quizzed a former deputy Senate president, Ike Ekweremadu over his undeclared assets and properties.

Ekweremadu spent several hours in the custody of the anti-graft commission as he was interrogated on how he was able to acquire 22 choice properties in Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

POLITICS NIGERIA recalls that Ekweremadu was also quizzed in 2018 but fell ill in custody after exhibiting symptoms of high blood pressure. He was eventually released to seek medical assistance.

However, a reliable source disclosed that Ekweremadu still be invited again sometime in the near future.

Asa public officer in Nigeria, it’s a crime not to declare assets you own before the Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB. Ekeremadu’s undeclared assets include: 11 Evans Enwerem Street, Apo Legislative Quarters, Apo, Abuja; Plot 2633 Kyami, Abuja; Housing Estate; Plot 1106 CRD, Cadastral Zone 07-07, Lugbe, Abuja; Plot 2782, Asokoro Extension, Abuja; houses at Citi Park Estate, Gwagwalada, Abuja and Plot 1474, Cadastral Zone BD6, Mabushi, Abuja.

Other properties allegedly undeclared by the senator include Congress Court, Abuja; Flat 1, Block D25, Athletics Street, (24th Street), Games Village, Abuja; and Plot 66, 64 Crescent, Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.

In March 2018, the Federal government sought an interim order of the Federal High Court, Abuja, to seize all the properties.
