rvp2018:
There is no doubt that Nigeria is ahead of kenya in Nollywood/Music/Fashion.I was willing to grant Nigeria two more things - Banking & Cement Industry - but I think on both counts - you are regressing so baldy and Kenya is certainly ahead in banking & is catching up in cement industry. That leave Nigeria's Nollywood & Music are few things kenya can copy from Nigeria.
Kenya is way behind Nigeria in cement production... Not even South Africa can compete with Nigeria's production... In the next 2 to 3 years, Kenya will have to catch up to Nigeria in petrochemicals and fertilizer production...
In the next few years where the competition might be with Nigeria and Kenya will be in car production...

As you know around 90% of Nigeria's exports is crude oil..
Looking at the future(short-term) with current trends on ground, I predict a massive increase in cement, fertilizer, petrochemical, and perhaps agricultural exportation..

What about you?

How does this workhuh Please explain more on the reverse osmosis.

I wrote a summarized article on how Nigeria can be savaged, which I posted on quora and it got international attention...I wished I could publish the article on any of our national dailies or even get it posted on a weekly interval here on nairaland front page if the moderators would reason with me...in the article, I examined a lot of solutions we need to savage Nigeria from total ruin.
can u please post the the link to your article.. Thanks

All those things you talk about are happening in Kenya at a larger scale.

https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Kenya-gets-2-000-tractors-from-Brazil--for-sale-to-farmers/539546-2112766-a55u1bz/index.html

What I'm saying is, as Nigeria mechanizes its farming, Kenya mechanizes even more. It's not like we are stuck somewhere waiting for you to catch up.
While you guys are signing for 2,000 tractors Nigeria is signing for 10,000 tractors plus John Deere will also set up assembling plants...
http://allafrica.com/stories/201806190595.html

From what I've seen Nigeria's pace may be quicker than Kenya's.... Plus these days we have the Nigerian billionaires getting into farming... Just recently Lagos announced it will finish building the largest rice mill in Africa.. We already have one of the largest sugar mills in the world...

Just be honest with your self - after a whole 5 years, Nigeria with 4 times Kenya's population had just twice the number of tractors as Kenya....and no, Nigeria was not hit by recession in 2007. Remember the recession happened in 2008 and it didn't hit Africa that much. Nigeria got just as affected as Kenya. I say Kenya was it's rock bottom in 2002 because between 1989 and 2002 Kenya's economy was either constant or shrinking and population was growing first. The economy just woke up in 2003 after KANU was defeated and Kibaki took over. It grew decently up to 2007 when we were performing at our best but again went down in 2008 due to the political skirmishes of Dec 2007 and Jan 2008. I tell you, if Kenya had 12,000 tractors in 2002 then probably in 2007 they were more than 50,000. In 2002, Kenya was in complete shambles - no single road lacked a pothole, some rural areas were inaccessible, teachers used to go for 3 months without salary because the government was broke. If at that particular year we were better in agricultural mechanization than the Nigeria of 5 years later then I am pretty shocked at how backward Nigeria's farming is.
... I'm pretty sure Nigeria has more mechanization tools on ground as of now... And it's been growing especially since this government has prioritized agriculture... Recently, Nigeria signed an agreement with John Deere to provide a couple thousand tractors... There are plans for tractor assemblage in Nigeria... Nowadays, companies are even targeting smaller farms for mechanization...
And let's not forget the big dogs who are getting into agriculture like Dangote

I hope you noted that you had 24,000 tractors in 2007 and Kenya had 12,000 tractors in 2002. That basically disapproves your point more than proves it.

PS. Nigeria had 146 million people in 2007, Kenya had 33 million people in 2002. Furthermore in 2002 Kenya was at its rock bottom economically - we were at the end of the retrogressive KANU era and growing at negative economic growth. Almost everything in Kenya was in shambles in 2002. Meanwhile in 2007 Kenya was at its best economically - high economic growth and stable economy. I am sure we had more than 24,000 tractors in 2007 (when our population was a mere 37 million) outnumbering Nigeria that had 146 million people.
I can also use the same argument and claim Nigeria was also down during 2007/2008.. huge financial crisis that rocked the world..
Personally, Kenya might be ahead in mechanization per capita because of the much smaller population, but I also strongly believe Nigeria is ahead in terms of mechanization tools on ground
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by nwoke39: 8:01pm On Jun 30, 2018
TayserMahiri:
You havent mechanized your agriculture you even import milk and its products. Bubu was here to learn how to breed cows, even gunning to import our milk products. Last year you reduced import tariffs on milk so that you can import more. Apparently you lag behind in milk consumption per capita. You guys (together with Ghana) consume 11 to 15 liters per capita (whats up with the Fulani herders? They should pay some attention to their cows now embarassed ). Kenya consumes 120 Liters per capita, projected to hit 220 L per Kenyan by 2030, currently tops in Africa, even better than SA!

I was looking at the stats and was left dumbstruck. LAWD. Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda record anemic annual per capita consumption numbers of 53 liters, 42 liters, and 38 liters, respectively. Ethiopia consumes a measly 20 liters per capita. I wish to know if other Africans have a sustainable substitute for milk because the numbers are a bit shocking. Meanwhile Kenya no longer imports milk powder as from this year because we are producing more than enough milk.

According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation, Kenya’s per capita milk consumption is among the highest globally of any low-income developing country.

What I was saying Nwoke is that if you say Kenya is agrarian, then Naija hasnt gone through the agrarian revolution. You desperately need Kenya's expertise. We are light years ahead of you agriculturally speaking. You cant be taking 11 liters in a whole year when I do that in a week or so. Btw, did you know Nigeria imports goods worth around 3 billion Ksh from Kenya and only exports around 56 MILLION Kshs to Kenya? Now you know. I dont know whats up with the bonoko Giant but sth is very wrong.

Kenya’s exports to Nigeria include soap, jute, medicaments, automatic data processing machines, paper and paper products, textile, electrical machinery and medicaments.

Meanwhile
Imports from Nigeria include liquefied propane and butane, perfumes and cosmetics, telecommunications equipment, essential oils, special yarns and printed matter.

Attached is a preview of what Bubu came to witness with his very own eyes in this advanced country in East Africa grin

You called Nigeria an agrarian society... i just commented to suggest otherwise... Kenya no doubt is doing better than Nigeria when it comes to milk...

As to which country has more mechanized agriculture, that's debatable..
According to this chart Nigeria ranks higher than Kenya in having more agricultural equipment, tractors..

...........thanks to your oil. You still don't get it though. Let me put it more simply.

Kenyans mode of Agriculture is more modern than Nigeria's. Get the gist now?
oil only contributes about 10% to our GDP

........and it is, being agrarian simply means using rudimentary methods in Agriculture which is true with Nigeria. You still have a lot to learn. I heard you were importing Zimbabwean farmers to teach you? Your president was also here for similar reasons on dairy farming.
TayserMahiri

Actually if you look at stats Kenya is more agrarian compared to Nigeria.. Agriculture contributes more to Kenya's GDP than Nigeria's..
Agriculture contributes about 21% to Nigeria's GDP while agriculture contributes about 35% to Kenya's GDP...

That's an obvious fact Nwoke. Check the urbanization levels of South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Gabon, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Congo Brazzaville, Sierra Leone, Djibouti, Liberia, Mauritious, Seychelles, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mauritania et al - let me not even go to North Africa where each and every country is more urbanized than Nigeria. Furthermore make your friend understand Urbanization and development are not the same thing. Most rural areas in Kenya are more developed than cities such as Onitsha and Abeokuta in Nigeria.
Nigeria is actually more urbanized than Sierre Leone, Mauritius, Egypt(North Africa),Sudan(technically North African),etc..
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/fields/2212.html
Ur right being more urbanized doesn't necessarily mean more advanced.. some countries in Africa are more urbanized than China but China is more advanced..
The issue came up when TayserMahiri mentioned Nigeria as agrarian compared to Kenya

According to this guy, urbanisation is development and Nigeria is so developed that it does not need to have a budget allocated for development yet countries like Switzerland and the US do lol. I won't even mention the fact that he thinks Nigeria is the most urbanized country in Africa yet it's not even among the top 10. I got so tired dealing with him I've asked him to desist from responding to me.

Ajaokuta mill - with all raw material they need within 60Kms radiusgrin grin grin

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2018/06/nigeria-steel-factory-open-40-years-180616102446497.html
don't see your point here... The project is about 40 years old... corruption has stalled it.. It baffles me that Nigeria actually had a plan to industrialize(decades ago) but it was sadly sabotaged by corruption and income from oil...

During those 40 years, countries Nigeria was richer than have zoomed us by

Sometimes i fantasize where Nigeria could have been today if not for corruption

But as you read in that article, it seems Nigeria wants to restart the plant...

I mean 10 million metric tonnes of steel per annum!!! That's more than what all African countries produces including South Africa
And nothing produced what a shame.. Corruption killed Nigeria... Hopefully in the upcoming years, we can somehow kill corruption or somehow reduce it drastically..

Heard South Africa is having blackouts.. seems like that country is going to the dogs
Foreign AffairsRe: Kenya Is Ahead of Nigeria In All Aspect (Facts Don't Lie) by nwoke39: 4:38pm On Jun 18, 2018
NairobiWalker:
Why are you using figures of 2016 when we are in 2018? Don't you know Nigeria's GDP is decreasing while Kenya's is increasing at a high rate? In 2018,

Kenya GDP per capita - 1790
Nigeria GDP per capita - 1994

I've said here several times that your GDP per capita was almost 3 times ours in 2014 now they're almost equal. In the next two years we'll definitely be ahead of you.

A good percentage of your GDP is drawn from oil which ends up in foreign pockets of mining companies - reason why despite your slight advantage over us on GDP per capital, our civil servants earn more than your civil servants.
Note oil only takes up 10% of Nigeria GDP, similar to manufacturing
but when you compare ppp, Kenya isn't close... Chances are Kenya and possibly Ghana will catch to Nigeria in nominal gdp per capita, but will take longer in ppp... and by that time Nigeria might hit 7% growth
For now let's see if Kenya and Ghana will catch up, and if they do will Nigeria over pass them

This is how you compare with Ghana in terms of education

1. Average IQ Ghana 71 Nigeria 67

2. ADULT Literacy Ghana 65 Nigeria 60

3. Overall Literacy Ghana 78 Naija 68

Ghana has more universities/ schools per capita than Nigeria which explains why over 75 000 of you troop to their tertiary institutions for education. They beat you in every way I dont want to go into the details. The most important point was number 1 which explains why you are so full of mouth while Ghanaians keep a low profile. Smart people keep quiet while fools shout to advertise their ignorance.
Actually you're wrong on the IQ.. Nigeria's IQ is 84, higher than South Africa, Ghana, Kenya... in fact higher than much of Africa
Nigeria is ranked 23rd in the world on IQ
