We will discuss with the Obuhs on the PM News matter and advice our members on ground on what to do.

back to the Obuhs. . .

As I type this, painting of the room and putting other fittings in places are going on. We hope to show you more pictures by tomorrow.

Next week our focus is on empowering this family so they can take care of themselves.

We are still looking for about N120,000 in addition to the balance we have.

Please support this project and God bless you as you do so.
FamilyRe: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by OAM4J: 4:10pm On Nov 25, 2011
Let's not waste time discussing this, Taking care of the Obuhs is our priority we don't wanna give more room for distractions.

I think we shouldn't ignore them, afterall if not for them we wont know about this people. Also we need them to correct the wrong impression they created about this family

But the family should meet them at their office or at a designated location and they shouldn't reveal their current address to them for security purpose.

Also PM news should be given the link to this thread, if they need any information about our efforts.

Nairalanders Efforts To Accommodate & Empower A Family Found Living Under Bridge

The Journey So far.

After reading the story of Mr Obuh and family (pregnant wife and kid) on this thread (Nov11) https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-801338.0.html#msg9532930 , a number of people felt concerned and believed something should be done to help this man and his family. It was agreed that the family should 1st be visited to confirm the story. Ifyalways volunteered and she visited, interviewed, took pictures of this family under the bridge and confirmed that their story was indeed true (Nov14).

Many of us then felt we should raise funds among ourselves and help this family get an accommodation and also help them start a trade of their choice so that they can continue to take care of themselves afterwards.

Shortly after we agreed on this and started raising funds(Nov15), we got a lot of conflicting stories of how other people offered to help and the Obuhs rejected all the offers (Nov16,17). We then requested Ifyalways and OlowoTee (Nairalanders) to pay them another visit (Nov18,20). They confirmed to us that most of the conflicting stories were not true, some were exaggerated and the said accommodation gotten for then was not in any way better than under the bridge they were living. On hearing this, we decided to resume the goal of helping this family as earlier intended (Nov19).

We were encouraged by the contributions of many members here and with the amount realized we have been able to secure a decent one room accommodation with some furnishings for this family (Nov24).

We believe we should not just give a man fish but teach and equip him to fish so he can look after himself and family. Because of this we wish to get a small shop for the family and buy them some items they can trade with. Also we hope to put the little boy in school.

On this regard we still seek contributions of more Nairalanders.

We need about N120,000 more to complete the project.

Attached is the account showing the funds raised, how much has been spent so far and the balance.

Also attached are the pictures of the family in the new accommodation we got for them and all the items bought for them.

God bless you as you give towards this cause.

Signed

R231, yamakuza, OAM4J, Ifyalways, Jarus, & OlowoTee

@The moderators, is there any reason why Ngodigha is still banned till this moment. Why do you ban an innocent man when people like Eko ile, Desola, bluetooth, Aribisala etc who sin on regular basis are spared the hammer.
Unban Ngodigha who ever threw this devils spanner.
I have no idea why you were banned, but if I must plead for you to be unbanned, you have to promise us to stop making trouble and abide by all the rules. OK?
PoliticsRe: Let's Have Your Complaints Here by OAM4J: 11:42pm On Nov 24, 2011
Beaf, its ok. The truth is I have not been getting reports from you since I resumed except when you were banned. But let's not argue over that, use the report to moderator button from now on, if you don't get any response, post the link containing the insult on this thread. I can guarantee you that there is no way you use these two mediums that you wont get a response.

Please let the matter rest.

Thank you. cool

Why was my thread moved? Is it because I said Igbo. At least you could have moved it to the Culture section. The topic was simply "The Nonexistant Corporate Structure of the Igbo." What is so bad about discussing such a topic? It could have been placed in the business section.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-810145.32.html#msg9624614
It really doesn't matter, the thread is about a particular ethnic, and being in ethnic section doesn't mean is a bad thread, else thread from ethnic section wont make it to home page.

We have given the thread the maximum coverage it can get by putting it on home page.

@ALL

To all who have contributed. We thank you. And May God bless you.

Our desire is that by the end of next week, Mr Obuh and family will not only have a home of their home but a decent job as well.

We still need more donations please, we are trying to get them a small shop and also equip it with some 'provisions'.

God bless you as you donate towards this.

We will upload the pictures of the progress made so far by tomorrow
