PoliticsRe: *~ Gbawe Voted The Politics Section Poster Of The Year *~ Congratulations by OAM4J: 4:09pm On Dec 02, 2011
Jarus:
Ban rule is not new. It was applied last year. What does it profit us to scheme out anybody in an online 'award' that may not add any value to anybody, beyond the fun of it?

Guy, let's be dispassionate, how will it look if someone that, though known for intelligent contributions, falls short in simply abiding by forum rules, being named the best poster in the section? There are rules everywhere and conformity with rules should not be compromised.

Yous ism suspicion is even more surprising. Check out the most banned people on this section - from Desola to Beaf to ajl-harem - tell me if it is skewed to a particular tribe?

In rare cases, it may be possible that x does something 'warnable/banable' but he escapes it because we did not see it. We are human and not machines and cannot rule out imperfections, but as much as humanly possible we try to be fair to all.

Also note that warning doesn't necessarily precede banning; you can be banned at first offence depending on the gravity of your offence.

Let's let go our personal biases in matters like this.
Well put. I hope this rest the issue on ban.

@ All

The aim is to also encourage those who keep the rules and further encourage others to keep the rules.

Also if you guys check other sections, you will find out that the same set of rules apply.

Let's keep the nominations coming
FamilyRe: Man Raises Family Under Lagos Bridge by OAM4J: 3:26pm On Dec 02, 2011
Nice one Eberay and Bioye. Beautiful write-ups

@all

Seriously guys, this is not about honour and special recognitions, those to me are vanities, besides we may never truly know who deserves the best award because a man who gave all the N1,000 he has in his account might have given more than a man that conveniently gave N5,000 out of N200,000 he has in his account.

If there is anything I want us to take from this project, is to resolve to continue giving a helping hand to others. As we can see how much difference our little contributions can make in the life of people in need. Like chaircover said, that boy might grow up to become a doctor and treat many of us in our old age when sick and the baby in the womb might be the better version of Dangote that will create millions of jobs for many Nigerians.

Last year on this same section it was about Menek: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-446574.384.html , some of us here offered a helping hand to help him find his feet, today he is not only standing, but I was so happy reading his post this morning to see that he is able and willing to help others.

I have always believed that life fulfillment is not in how many houses we built or cars we bought or amount in our bank accounts, but in how many other people's life we affected positively. To me it worth so much more that a man will look up to God and say "God I thank you for OAM4J".

So Today as we begin to conclude this project, I look up to God and I say with so much gratitude "God I thank you for these Wonderful Nairalanders who have contributed in cash, in kind, in labour and prayers to put a smile on the Obuhs' faces"

God bless all of you.

FamilyRe: His Wife Has Too Many Male Friends by OAM4J: 5:02pm On Dec 01, 2011
chaircover:
I think that couples should respect one another. They should also stop for a minute and try to wear the other persons shoes and see how it feels. How would I feel if my husband and I are about to get frisky and some ex-girlfriend calls him and he goes off and takes a half hour call.

Nothing wrong in having friends of the opposite sex, but only if you carry your partner along, your partner doesn't feel sidelined and is the type who feels confident enough to trust you not to do anything silly and if the friendships with the opposite sex are not encroaching on your relationship with your own partner.

I have male friends that I mainly met at work and in the line of my business, but my husband knows of every single one of them. Nothing is done behind his back and a lot of them including their wives have become family friends. Same thing applies to his own female friends. There is a place for things done in moderation.

We do not keep ex's as friends.

They should mind their business. Has Nigerian ever dictated to them what law they should make or shouldn't make?

If they want to help, the ambassador and his men should Bleep all the gays in the ass and afterward extend visas to them and carry them away forever, Nigeria don't want and wont miss them.

Nonsense!  angry
PoliticsPolice Disperse Pro-biafra Procession In Nnewu, Anambra by OAM4J(op): 10:39am On Dec 01, 2011
Police disperse pro-Biafra procession, arrest leader

The police in Nnewi, Anambra State, on Wednesday dispersed a group of pro-Biafra loyalists who were marching round the town calling for a Biafran State.

The police arrested and took away the leader of the group, Benjamin Onwuka, also known as Biafra Zionist.

But the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Chukwuemeka, denied that Onwuka was arrested.

He said the group was distributing inciting flyers on Biafra to people. Chukwuemeka said the police had to prevent them from distributing the flyers.

Onwuka had earlier told his members that though they were mourning the death of former Biafran leader, Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the movement was determined to actualise the establishment of a sovereign state of Biafra.Onwuka, who said he was based in the United States, said America and Europe should support the establishment of the state.

“We want to internationalise the struggle. The death of our leader gives another opportunity for us to drum it into the ears of those who should do something about this,” he said.

He drew a parallel between the plight of the Igbo and the Jews, who had suffered deprivation because of unwarranted hatred from their neighbours.

Onwuka regretted that the leadership of the Movement for the Actuaslisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra was antagonistic to his group’s objectives.

He claimed that people sent by MASSOB leader, Ralph Uwazurike, had beaten him up in the past and threatened to deal ruthlessly with him.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people on Wednesday scrambled to sign the condolence register opened at the Government House, Awka, for him.

Though condolence registers were also opened at the Judiciary headquarters and the House of Assembly complex, the crowd at Government House was uncontrollable.

At the Assembly, the members passed a resolution calling for November 26, the day Ojukwu died to be instituted as Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Day.

The Minority Leader of the House, Mr. Tony Muoinagor, and another member, Mr. Gabriel Onyenweife, said Ojukwu was the symbol of the Igbo race.

Those who were able to sign the condolence register spoke glowingly about Ojukwu and wished him eternal rest.

But one of the remarkable comments said, “When you go there, arrange with (Michael) Okpara, Zik (Nnamdi Azikwe) and Akanu Ibiam to meet God to send a saviour to us.”

I just want to say that I love you guys and that this is phenomenal. We thank God, remember there are thousands of families just like the Obuhs in Nigeria. I think we should come up with another viable and legit project. We could do exactly what we've done here; take pics before and after etc.

However when the Obuhs are all settled down, let's not forget to keep in touch with them from time to time and see how they are progressing.

Can i get the acct info, thanks!!
