KAMPALA — A Ugandan gay rights activist was killed after reneging on an agreement to pay for sex, the country's police chief told journalists Thursday.I hope all those gay rights activists and their reps on NL can now shut up their mouth. The guy was breaking the law and apparently taking advantage of the underprivileged. Africans say No to Homosexuality. QED. |

That's how I compiled the list. Coldn't you tell? I needed no evidence of same-sex desires to put you on the "gay" list. Try and keep up! It was a joke anyway. Nice development. The Entire Africa should be visa free to each other. The situations/challenges across many African countries are barely the same, there is no need for restrictions IMO. |

Pick from the hetero list. BTW, Bluetooth is worth the sum of 2 all by himself. Note: If you can show me a post in this thread showing the following, I might reconsider: - you asserted your right to chase as many women as you can handle - where you expressed regret that a life was lost, but "you know, he kinda shoulda expected it" - you will defend to your last breath the continent of Africa from legalizing the gays - you expressed the view that the westerners are out to ruin us by promoting this "lifestyle" and corrupting our young 'uns in their country - you stated that the guilty party was probably a friend You may also gain the support of 2 members on the "hetero" list that can vouch that you are not "you-know"? SEFAGO:What is your point Prof? You logics is confusing. Pls put on on your critical analysis cap. I did not start the love assertion thing, Jenifa argued against polygamy by claiming monogamy is based on love and implied polygamy is not, I questioned it, then you tried to introduce religion into it and I simply pointed out to you that before any religion there was polygamy. What is wuruwuru here. Just say you are losing it. By not refuting her claim, and immediately arguing that this is factually wrong and carrying it along your line of argument, I think by all measures (at least in formal logic), to say that you believe this. See when I see something wrong, I either ignore it or correct the person. And I quote:Prof, you might need to put on your glasses and if you dont have one, I will recommend you get one. Where in Jenifa post or in my post did you see us talk about making law based on disgust? Pls read the posts carefully again and show me. My argument is that for whatever reason(s) the majority in many western countries found polygamy disgusting and made it illegal, and the minority who believe and practice polygamy respect it without forcing them to change their laws is the same reason the minority who believe and practice homosexuality in Africa should respect the law and not force them to change it. That is what Democracy is all about, MAJORITY wins. |
SEFAGO:Before Mormon, Islam, Christianity or any other religion, there was polygamy. Fast-forward to 2011; non religious people are still going into polygamy. Both Polygamy and Monogamy have challenges, and people get into both marriages for various reasons (financial security inclusive), but to say only monogamy is based on love is a big error. SEFAGO:And where did I made that statement or imply that? Jenefa said polygamy disgusts most Americans and I simply said not as much as homosexuality disgusts Africans, how does that translates to US made law against polygamy out of disgust? ![]() |
SEFAGO:I have seen some beautiful profile pix on NL nau, except those pictures are fake sha. |
For polygamy, I think if there are enough activists for it who want to bring it back, it may come back. But generally, I doubt that will ever happen in the US, marriage is based on love not financial arrangement or whatever reason polygamy exist. The Americans think polygamy works against women's rights anyway. lol The shariarist do it because their laws are based on the Koran. And it's not about society being strongly disgusted. Generally, to me at least, society can select to ban activities that they know are only practiced by a minority or vulnerable in society. ex. Sharia laws against adultery are harsher toward women than men. this is a fact. Most of their laws also target women (ie. mandatory veils, banned from walking alone in public etc ) who are a vulnerable population in society. While they let the men go scot free. So why should morality be applied to women only (as a group). So it's not about what society wants. but rather what the powerful in society wants vs the population that are vulnerable or marginalized. ex. hutus vs tutsi in Rwandan genocide. where the tutsis were a minority population or Nazi Germany that first banned Jewish activities. They basically used their laws to deny Jews of rights and then eventually went on to try to exterminate them which was the last straw.
Jenifa, what makes you think polygamy is not base on love? Or that only Muslims/Shariarist practice polygamy? And whatever gave you the impression that Polygamy has anything to do with any financial arrangement. If you doubt US/West ever accepting/legalizing polygamy what makes you think majority of Africans will ever accept homosexuality as a way of life? Trust me, many Africans find homosexuality more disgusting than the west find polygamy. And I doubt it will ever change. They might eventually review their laws towards tolerating homos (I hope not), but I doubt it will EVER be accepted as a decent way of life in Africa. |

Beaf, do you know that God does change His mind? Not saying it's the case, but it is also a possibility. |
Of course there will be multiple registrations when some of those corpers handling the registration already claimed they registered some people without their bio-data. The system should not have been programmed to allow that, and if the data is not centralized, then people can move from ward to ward voting in all the places they registered. Too bad. In 2011 we still cannot handle a simple exercise of registering voters after spending Billions. And few years from now another INEC chairman will be asking for another billions of Naira for a new exercise. ![]() |
I know this debate can go on and on and on till forever, but the fact remains that majority of Africans are not willing to accept homosexuality as a decent way of life (And I hope there will never be a time they will). Therefore whosoever wants to practice the act in Africa should do it in the privacy of his/her home or be ready to face the law and rejection from majority of African. Thankfully, many African countries practice democracy!
OAM4J so what do you think of Tanzanians killing the Albinos in the country? Because majority non-albinos support it so the albinos therefore should continue to be treated like sub-humans? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7148673.stm and what also do you think of the genocide in Rwanda where majority Hutu population set out to exterminate the minority Tutsi population. or of women being forced to wear burqas in some certain parts of the world against their will. my idea of democracy is majority rule and minority rights. I think as nigerians that are used to govt abusing even our basic human rights, we don't understand the concept let alone understanding that minorities need to be protected with rights. read this: "The term Minority Rights embodies two separate concepts: first, normal individual rights as applied to members of racial, ethnic, class, religious, linguistic or sexual minorities, and second, collective rights accorded to minority groups. The term may also apply simply to individual rights of anyone who is not part of a majority decision. Civil rights movements often seek to ensure that individual rights are not denied on the basis of membership in a minority group. Minority rights, as applying to ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities and indigenous peoples, are an integral part of international human rights law. Like children's rights, women's rights and refugee rights, minority rights are a legal framework designed to ensure that a specific group which is in a vulnerable, disadvantaged or marginalised position in society, is able to achieve equality and is protected from persecution."
Am sure you will agree with me that all these 'rights' claims are subjective, also your rights ends where mine starts. So the society need to define the limits of individual rights especially where such rights has a tendency of overstepping other people's boundary. Therefore if a right is not guarantee and define by the laws of a society, there will be room for anarchy. that said, am against those killings & genocides but that is why we have bodies like United Nations to protect certain ethnic minority rights. Any government/leader involve in such act will definitely be punished at the end of the day. Unfortunately gay rights is not yet protected under UN. May be those gay activists should put more efforts in having their right protected by UN, that might limit countries like Uganda passing a law that prescribe death sentence for homos. Dont get me wrong, I dont support death sentence for homos, I think they should be tolerated everywhere, to the extent that they keep their acts to themselves and do not lay claim to those rights listed in Katsumoto post, especially in Africa. |
