Katsumoto:
Lagos has an impressive list as well but there is no need to bugga.  grin
Are you from Lagos?

dayokanu:
Its a bloody lie. I know ekubear OMI-konga from Oyo, Aigbofa OMI-gutter from Oyo, Oluwatoyin OMI-obo, Katsumoto OMI-oyan,

OMI is not exclusive to Osun alone
Dayo, my sister will say 'o ti yanma' (you don spoil) grin grin grin

Katsumoto:
Do you want to be schooled about the origin of the Yoruba again?  grin

You need to drop that factually inaccurate version that was taught in schools. You can't even get your version right.
Oduduwa had 8 grand-children; Orunmila who was before Oduduwa had 16 children. When Oduduwa got to Ife, he met Yoruba people there.

Should I go on?  wink
Go on but with well established facts.

Interesting thread!

OK, let me share mine. . .

It was on my friend's wedding, I was among the groom's men and my girlfriend of 3yrs was the chief bridesmaid, then came the time for me to give a toast to the new couple. . . I told the story of how the couple met and how they fought all challenges and obstacles to be together and how they are made for each other from heaven. . . it was an highly emotional speech and everyone was moved to tears and toasted to a beautiful future for my friend and his wife,  Just when the people were about to drop their wine glasses, I sought their indulgence for few minutes, then told them about a young lady that captured my heart and how I believe she is made in heaven for me, and right in front of all I asked my girlfriend to marry me. . . with so much tears in her eyes she said 'Yes' then came the moment for me to put a ring on her finger. . . oops! I have not bought any ring sad, and of course no marriage followed. sad cry grin

FamilyRe: I Need An Urgent Advice! Family Issue by OAM4J: 5:20am On Feb 14, 2011
Betty

A good number of our folks in Nigeria are still very much weary of cross cultural marriages for fear of unknown and other reasons

But then I know a lot of people who got over those barriers, not immediately or with ease, but overtime with much persuasions.

It depends on your bf, what is his stand? does he believe he can persuade/convince his family to change their mind?

If he doesn't believe he can, and he thinks you two should end the relationship, then you might just leave him and move on.

Whatever a male lecturer can do, a female lecturer can do. . . even better. forgive my joke

Anyway, it is news to me as well, I have not heard of a Nigerian female lecturer harassing a male student, not to talk of a female student, but then anything can happen.

mutter:
This story could be very true.
I had that problem with a lecturer once. From 100 level i pulled his course till final year. With resits I had taken that paper6 times and it was easy. When I eventually went to meet him, he told me point blank that I had wasted too much time, he had been waiting patiently for me to come and render my dues.
He was not the only lecturer.
It is hard to prove such things.
You stand there and are confronted with either doing it or bearing the consequences.
@poster you are a good father. I know you will find a way of advising your daughter. Believe you me some parents will ask the girl to do it.
You forgot to tell us what you eventually did to pass, or our guess is as good as yours cheesy

@KnowAll

While I understand and share part of your sentiments about the level of corruption, short sightedness and wastages currently going on Nigeria, It will still take decades for Angola to match up with Nigeria in terms of development.

You are only talking about Luanda, not the entire country, but we have already built a city from oil wealth, Angola is yet to do anything close to that and I doubt the numerous projects going on in Luanda can match up with the on going projects in Lagos alone.
