@OAM4J, are non-Ijebus allowed to come? Seems a place to be from your gripping narrative.

Sure, thousands of Non-Ijebus attend Ojude Oba annually. You never know Ijebus' generosity till you attend their parties, Ijebus can be frugal with many things, but not with throwing parties.

Katsumoto: Egbami. I am more Yoruba than you who has a Yoruba dad. grin grin grin grin Yes I said it.

@ OAMJ, brewed zobo tastes a lot different, a leaf per mug is how I do it now with a shot of my grated ginger juice.
A leaf per mug makes lot of sense. Instead of keeping bottles of zobo in my refrigerator, I will only brew a cup whenever i want it.

naijababe: @ OAMJ, there's a right way to make Zobo, many Nigerians boil the leaves but you are supposed to soak it in hot water and let it brew like you'd brew tea. I even bought a ginger grater too for the honours. Hot or cold, it is so refreshing!!! I am buying myself a flask next to carry it around.
I boil mine too. Does it taste different boiling or brewing? Or it only saves time? Adding ginger or lime is not compulsory to me, just add your choice flavours and you are good to go.

FamilyRe: Bullying Make African Kids Stronger But Kills The American Kids: Why by OAM4J: 9:19pm On Oct 17, 2013
stillwater: The society is different. Our experiences are too. Even church is different. The longer you stay abroad, your emotions start getting softer too and forget A is Z to us. grin It's only murder or death that gets an expressive response from us. Then you would see Africans rolling on the floor. You are only celebrated when you die in your violent husband's house than when you divorce him. There are millions of girls in Nigeria that have been raped that just picked up their underwear and went on as if nothing happened. They only feel shame and do not feel that there's an injustice that has been done to them. Take the ABSU rape victim for example. What dignity that woman is protecting is beyond every single brain cell in my head. I'm still annoyed about that incident. See the poverty in Nigeria, and we say we have a government. We are not in touch with our emotional side. We have been desensitized to hurt, pain, wickedness, dejection, hate, strife, and helplessness by the biggest bully on earth - the Nigerian government. We have been trained very very well in a concentration camp Nigerian style. We hardly commit suicide but show our fruits in other flamboyant styles like fraud, crime, prostitution, aggression and the incessant need to loot and loot and loot.
What more can I say? You've said it all.

As per Ileya, it is an annual festival in Ijebu Ode. I just made this post for some of the moderators asking similar question in mod section:

OAM4J: Ojude Oba literately means the kings's front-yard. It is an annual event when the citizens and well wishers of Ijebuland pay homage to their king (The Awujale of Ijebuland). It was fixed on the 3rd of ileya because then many citizens (Muslims and Non Muslims) often travel home for the Ileya festivals...even though the event has become very popular and big that many now go home for Ileya because they don't want to miss Ojude Oba.

Before now the event usually takes place in front of the King's palace and we used to have many titled chiefs on horses giving lots of entertainment to spectators. I remember growing up, we don't want to miss the horse entertainment of the likes Chief Kuku, Chief Kuye, The Baloguns and The Alatishes. Many of these notable chiefs are dead now.

Years after, the Awujale asked many of the Ijebus to form various social associations with approval from the Awujale's palace..of course with regular 'isakole' (royalty) paid annually ( The king must chop na). cheesy That took Ojude Oba to a new level. We have thousands of like-minds associations in Ijebu today... of course each association get level o... depending on your class in the society. So yearly each recognized association come to Ojude Oba to pay homage to the king with their Musics and dances.

That is not all. The main thing is the parties after the Ojude Oba entertainments. Each Association has their party place where they eat and drink to their fill with their friends and families. Some of them engage live bands to play for them while they dance and party, others make use of DJs and party till dawn.

The fun on this day is unlimited with unlimited food, drinks, music, money, girls for boys and Aristos and boys for madams and Sugar Mummies. grin

@my students

Getting the best at Ojude Oba 101

1. Make sure you are connected to a middle or high class association, they attract the best of the bests
2. Have at least 2 pack of N100 or N200 or $1 in your pockect
3. Dress to kill with as many blings as possible
4. Arrive with an entourage in a big way
5. Get someone to send your name to the musicians for praise singing
6. When the musician start praising you, dont get up to dance quickly wait till he thinks you are not gonna spray him money
7. When the musician is about to start praise-sing someone else...get up and bring out a bundle of money from your pocket, he must continue singing for you
8. Take your time while spraying the musician money... the longer the better, you have to steal the show
9. Within 5 to 10 mins you will have at least 3 ladies dancing around you and for you.. and as a lady you will have boys begging for your attention. Just whisper into their ears to see you after the dance.
10 Take it from me that your Ojude Oba night and hotel room will remain busy till the 2nd day of Ojude Oba

Am sure you guys now understand why the event will only get bigger by the years... I really miss Ojude Oba

Roland17: Wales 1-1 Belgium

Sweden 3-5 Germany

Mesut Ozil started the dramatic come back for the Germans by scoring in the 44th minute to reduce the scoreline to 2-1 heading into half time and also created an assist for second half sub Gotze, he played 82mins and was substituted after he suffered a knock and was limping into the tunnel after his substitution, I just pray it's nothing serious..

Mertasacker was an unused sub in this game and it was obvious the Germans missed him, Podolski was not invited to this party owing to injury recovery.
I really hope nothing serious o. undecided

chucky234: Amoured cars cost far more than the $800,000 you are screaming about,a little research will do.
Yes, but definitely not a BMW armoured car. Guess you missed this post of Top 10 Most Expensive Armored Cars. BMW 7 Series High Security Costs about $350,000 but who even needs such an expensive car when Obama's Cadillac One costs $300,000.

eGuerrilla: https://saharareporters.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/news-page-images-480-wide/page_images/news/2013/Bmw_760li.jpg

$1.5 mill for a couple of beema?

I am not sure about where we go from here, folks.

Top 10 Most Expensive Armored Cars

1. Mercedes Benz S-Guard 600: $1.4 million

https://static6.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/222/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Mercedes_Benz_S-Guard1.jpg
Not to be outdone, Mercedes Benz has their own line of luxurious armored cars in the S-Guard 600 worth over $1.4 million. This model can resist close range sniper fire, rocket propelled grenades and high velocity projectiles. Its twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V12 517-horsepower gasoline engine can zoom from zero to 60 miles per hour in just four seconds.

2. Audi A8 Security: $685,000 to $1,000,000

https://static8.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/220/70/c/wp-content/uploads/audi-a8-w12-security.jpg
The armored Audi A8 Security is a sweet package wrapped in steel, titanium and Kevlar that makes it invincible to high-powered firearms. It can also protect against fire and chemical attacks.

Its W12 450b-horsepower gasoline engine can zip from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in less than five seconds! This car can be worth as much as a million dollars!

3. Bentley Mulliner Division with Armor from Mulsanne: $400,000

https://static3.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/211/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Bentley_Mulsanne_Armored.jpg
The Bentley Mulliner Division car is another luxurious model that spikes its price tag to $400,000 when coupled with high-end armor from Mulsanne.

This particular model can withstand high-powered firearms, chemical threats and explosive attacks from all sides. This car can accelerate from zero to sixty kilometers per hour in just five seconds with maximum speed of 184 miles per hour thanks to its Twin Turbocharged 6.7-liter 505-horsepower gasoline engine.

4. Maybach 62S with Armor from Rijck: $352,000

https://static4.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/229/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Maybach_62S_Rijck_Armored.jpg
Maybach cars are already expensive as it is. But when the famous Swiss armoring company Rijck integrates its inputs to the Maybach, expect it to be very expensive. Rijck has created a heavily armored Maybach 62S that can deter a high-powered sniper rifle fire from ten meters away. The engineers were able to accomplish this feat without changing the beautiful exterior and interior design of the Maybach.

It comes equipped with an AMG V12 Biturbo 5980cc 620-horsepower gasoline engine. It accelerates from zero to sixty miles per hour in just five seconds. The price tag for this Maybach-Rijck tandem is $352,000.

5. BMW 7 Series High Security: $350,000

https://static5.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/236/70/c/wp-content/uploads/BMW_7-Series_High_Security.jpg
BMW is a high-end luxury brand for vehicles but they can pack a punch as well with their armored 7 Series High Security. BMW believes this car is German engineering at its finest because its added weight does not not affect the handling and acceleration of the car.

The High Security can repel high velocity projectile weapons and chemical attacks. It even has its own gas tank that can seal itself again when hit by a bullet. Its engine is no slouch as well because its V12 6-liter, 535-horsepower gasoline engine can accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour in just six seconds.

6. Popemobile: $311,000

https://static9.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/268/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Popemobile_Armored.jpg
The Popemobile cost $311,000 but its value goes beyond that because of the passenger it serves. This vehicle is bulletproof and can withstand all forms of biological and chemical attacks. Even if it gets flat tires, it can still speed through seventy miles per hour. It runs on a Mercedes Benz V8 5-liter gasoline engine that can speed up from zero to 60 miles per hour in just six seconds.

7. Conquest Knight XV: $310,000

https://static8.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/229/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Conquest_Knight_XV.jpg
Seen by many as a “Hummer Killer,” the Conquest Knight XV is built of hardened steel with Kevlar-fiberglass fenders and bumpers. Even the wheels are impervious to damage because it is made of forged 6061 aluminum. Its engine is either a GM V8 6-liter 325-horsepower gasoline or a Cummins ISB 6.7-liter diesel. Its top speed can reach 153 miles per hour even with all its weight.

8. Cadillac One: $300,000

https://static6.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/237/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Cadillac_One.jpg
You’ve probably heard of Air Force One, the airplane used by the President of the United States of America for international travels. It has a land vehicle counterpart in the Cadillac One. But this privileged limousine is more than mere looks. It is heavily armored and its details are highly classified, leading some funny observers to joke that the Cadillac One can withstand a direct hit from a nuclear warhead.

For the estimated price of $300,000, the Cadillac One features a diesel-powered V8 6.6L turbo 300hp diesel. When in a presidential convoy, the Cadillac One has many other decoys to confuse potential threats.

9. The Dartz Kombat T98 SUV: $200,000

https://static6.therichestimages.com/cdn/590/229/70/c/wp-content/uploads/Dartz_Kombat_T98_SUV.jpg
The Russian-made Dartz Kombat T98 is technically a sports utility vehicle. But it really looks more like a tank. It looks like a Hummer with heavy steel plated doors and 7cm thick windows that can repel AK-47s and even rocket-propelled grenades.

It is powered by a monstrous 8.1 liter Vortec V8 that can sustain speeds of 180 kilometers per hour even with all its weight. Dartz has had a long history when it comes to armored cars dating back to World War I.

10. The Tumbler: The Dark Knight’s Newest Batmobile
https://static9.therichestimages.com/cdn/571/253/70/c/wp-content/uploads/The_Tumbler_The-Dark-Knight_Batmobile.jpg
This armored car exists in the realm of fantasy but when it was produced for the Batman sequel The Dark Knight Rises, it inspired crazy aspirations among hardcore Batman fans. The Tumbler has a HM 5-liter Vauxhall engine with jet engine boosters. The Tumbler also has auto-cannons in its nose. It may not withstand all types of RPGs, but it has the motorcycle-like Batpod as insurance embedded within the car.

This armored car can be built but vehicle engineers peg the price in the range of millions of dollars.
