Gwan2:
In as much as am not in support of the recent quit notice by northern youth and hate speeches occupying our cyberspace.....I will like to ask a very pertinent question......WHERE DO THE NIGER delta PEOPLE STAND?
.
You dissociated yourselves from IPOB and still reacting aggressively to quit notice issued to them.
.
In this century NIGER DELTA still carry oil for head like it will make them be like Dubai if given 100% derivatives?....Pls go learn how southern Sudan fare Will their oil and its export polices.
.
In this era that OPEC member countries are trying to cut down supply of crude oil because of glut in market to maintain a reasonable price, yet some people still think crude oil gat dsame value it had 3 decades ago?

.
How had the massive monthly allocation, 13% derivatives, selected favors both from Federal and oil companies helped you guys over time......I jus saw a shell livewire business grant...wanted applying only for me to see it is restricted only for the NIGER Delta states.. undecided
.
Yet some of you that had been curse from your ancestry think your problems is from the man working in chevron or Nnpc either in Lagos or Abuja...Think well, but this time add wisdom.
After all said and done, NIgeria still relies on Niger Delta Oil for survive .

All the noise about diversification is hogwash.

gfullmoon:
This acquittal goes beyond monetary inducement of Umar the CCT Chairman, but to pay Bukola Saraki back for standing with PMB through his trying times despite covertly "persecuting" him through CCT. This is to put Bukola Saraki in a good mood should people seeking to move motion declaring PMB incapacitated prompt the demand. He will use this one good term/tone deserves another to calm the tide.

Bukola Saraki can now enjoyed his Senate Presidency for once. Lessons: There is no harm in trying, Hon Aminu Tambuwal had set the pace of flaunting Party Zoning arrangement and living to tell the story.

But during OBJs time noone survived such prank, if you doubts me ask Late SP Chuba Okadigbo etc and those who succeeded like SP Anyim Pius, Na'Abba etc didn't return to the National Assembly again. Though Senator Anyim read the hand writing on the wall ,and never bothered contesting again.
Your right.

Saraki is the man standing for the Presidency.

Braggante:
This is a fruit of the deal between the Senate and the presidency. dont you find it strangely coincidental that this comes shortly after the budget gets signed? The budget gets to pass through the Senate easily, in exchange for Sarakis acquittal. If the budget is further delayed, nothing can be achieved by the govt and the presidency/apc gets the blame. Keep in mind 2019 is close so the govt needs Sarakis cooperation.

I know that Saraki is one of the major plagues infesting this country. He is arguably one of the most corrupt politicians (if not the most corrupt) in Nigeria's history, yet his intelligence and charisma keeps him under the radar.
For real progress to be made in Nigeria, the likes of him need to die.
Correct.

Let me also add, the Saraki is the person protecting the presidency from the on-going Buahri health issue.

Keeping Crime in the Tribal Family

By Pius Adesanmi

I've been paying attention to the ethnic composition of Nigerian criminal gangs with the corner of one eye. My non-scientific finding: our small criminal gangs are a mirror of the fratricidal ethnic divisions, hate, and bitterness among the small people.

In other words, our small criminals replicate tribalism and the intense ethnic provincialism which clog the minds of people in the lower classes in Nigeria and prevent progress.

Take a look at the composition of Evans' criminal gang: everybody is Igbo.

A few weeks ago in Toronto, the police were finally able to burst a notorious Nigerian criminal gang of credit card racketeers and other assorted fraud. From gang leader to gang messenger, everyone was Yoruba.

From the US to the UK to Canada to Indonesia to Thailand and to Nigeria, every time the law catches up with a Nigerian criminal gang, do not bother to look beyond the name of the gang leader. Whether it is kidnapping or drugs or credit card and other 419 schemes, the ethnicity of the gang leader always determines the ethnicity of the rest of the gang. There was an Arewa drug gang bursted by the police in Thailand a few years ago. I looked at the names: all Hausa Fulani.

Because many of these criminals come from the lower classes, they reflect what you see on display among members and children of the lower classes on social media every day: small-minded clannishness, ethnic insularity, hate, bitterness and division. Among the Nigerian lower classes, even crime must be kept in the tribal family.

Now, let us leave the ranks of the little people and migrate to the ranks of the world's leading criminals: Nigeria's one percent. The looters in the political class. Public office holders. The owners of Nigeria. Mind you, the rulers of Nigeria in the one percent are worse criminals than the kidnappers, the 419 fraudsters, and the drug pushers described above.

However, are they petty-minded and tribalistic in their orbit of crime? Well, take a trip with Mallam Doyin Okupe. Before he landed in Aso Rockk Villa with Goodluck Jonathan, he was involved in contract jibiti. Who was he scamming in contracts? His Yoruba people? For where. Among the one percent, pan-Nigeria is very important. They are the purest embodiment of though tribe and tongue may differ in brotherhood we stand.

Thus, one Igbo criminal governor in Imo state took care of his Yoruba criminal brother from Ogun state and awarded him juicy contracts on the back of the Igbo people of Imo state. Doyin Okupe collected on the contract and vamoosed. Did he return to Yoruba land on his way back from Imo? For where. He stopped over in Benue where one criminal Idoma Governor (abi na Tiv?) awarded him another chop and clean mouth contract.

From Benue to Imo to Ogun: no ethnic or religious division. These are members of the one percent. When two Okun jibiti Senators went after each other recently on Channels, I noticed that Harvard alumnus, Dr. Dino Melaye, accused Hotelier Emeritus, Smart Adeyemi, of collecting contracts from Peter Odili back in the day. You see how many ethnic rivers Smart Adeyemi crossed for contract racketeering in the south-south?

Look at Dasuki. He is the true definition of in my father's house there are many mansions there. No one percenter's bank account was left uncredited by Dasuki. He did for Hausa. He did for Fulani. He did for Yoruba. He did for Igbo. He did for Ijaw. He did for Ogoni. He did for everybody. Your only qualification for his ATM was being a Pan-Nigerian member of the one percent.

So, if you are a member of the lower classes who has spent the last two bitter weeks hurling curses and hate behind ethnic lines, you better 'borrow' yourself brain. Even the petty criminals who rise from among you reflect your hate and small-minded tribalism. That is why you and the petty criminals are always where you are in the lower rungs of social advancement.

Look at how far unity has gotten our united one percenters. As a group, they have done very well for themselves by uniting across ethnic and religious lines in criminality.

If you unite across ethnic and religious lines in good works, vision, social mission, and nation building, you will do better, much better than the criminal group of one percenters have done for themselves.

I got an email from my son, Mitterand Okorie, yesterday notifying me that he has quit social media for now because of all the hate and division.

You are driving the best minds away. You are losing them to despondency.

People united by crime should never trump your potential to unite for good and maximize your differences for social progress.

Ethnic difference is wealth, not a liability.

http://www.titopeblog.com/2017/06/june-12-1993-and-lessons-of-history-by.html

Those who were not born before June 12, 1993, may not know what is all about. For record purposes, June 12, 1993, was the day Nigerians from the East, West, North and rose voice, in amity, in unity, in concord and tandem to elect Chief M.K.O as the president of Nigeria. But on 21st June 1993 the former military president, retired General Ibrahim Babangida annulled the historic election and set Nigeria on the path of crisis, leading to many deaths including the winner and the wife , Kudrirat Abiola.

In my book, Heroes of Democracy (1999) the struggle for the revalidation of that mandate and the consequences was documented for posterity and generations yet unborn. Today I want to talk about the historical importance of that election, the pains, the sacrifices, the losses and the lessons.

Recall that the consummate winner of that historic election, a Yoruba first class leader, a Chartered Accountant of note, an international scholar, and a very successful businessman was hounded and incarcerated for five years and was eventually poisoned on July 7, 1998. The wife, Kudirat Abiola was shot in Lagos on June 4, 1996. It was a calculated attempt and carefully planned work to provoke the Yoruba to war in order to destroy the economy Lagos but did Yorubas play into their hands? NO! A lot of high profile Yoruba leaders including the late Chief Abraham Adesanya, the late Chief Bola Ige, Ayo Adebanjo, late Olaniwun Ajayi, Ayo Opadokun and others were incarcerated, some like Suliat Adedeji, Admiral Omotosho , Admiral Elegbede, Toyin Onagoruwa etc were killed. Former president OBASANJO was sent to jail for an alleged phantom coup.

Great minds like Professor Wole Soyinka, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Kayode Fayemi and many others were chased into exile .Yoruba leaders were abused, humiliated and ridiculed but did they resort to self-determination, abuse, hatred and ethnic bigotry? No! with pen and paper, and with common sense, sound education and civilization they faced those who planned to decimate them. No wonder the presidency was zoned to them in 1999 even though they did not allow them to use their choice, Chief Olu Falae. The powers that be chose Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. That singular mistake almost made Nigeria to lose almost everything in 16 years of PDP. Obasanjo was not prepared for leadership. He just came out from prison with no agenda, no plans, no strategy.

Then came the late Umaru Yar Adua who died in office and then Jonathan and in those 16 years Nigeria, many including this writer still talk about it as the years of the locusts. Now the questions people like us have been asking is whether Nigeria would have been where it is today had Chief Abiola been allowed to rule Nigeria at least for 8 years? Abiola would have brought to bear his cognate and very deep experience in the business world to transform Nigeria. Chief Abiola would have set the template for a prosperous Nigeria, he would have brought the hope he promised Nigerians, he would utilized our oil revenue to transform Nigeria as a Chartered Accountant and he would have changed for the better Nigeria's course of history.

Denying Chief Abiola his mandate caused Nigeria a great and monumental setback in 18 years .Today 24 years after, the annulment of that mandate is still haunting Nigeria.

What happened from June 12, 1993, to July 7, 1998, provoked the Yoruba nation to hate other Nigerians especially the Hausa- Fulani and Igbo for decimating a free mandate given to their illustrious son and killing him thereafter. But did the Yoruba go to war? Today southwest is the richest zone in Nigeria. In fact, the IGR of Ogun state is bigger than that of the entire South East States. Lagos IGR is bigger than that of 33 states in Nigeria put together. If Yoruba had gone to war where would they have been today? What would have happened if Igbo or Hausa-Fulani had suffered what Yoruba went through? I have no doubt in my mind that they would have gone to war but see
-Joe Igbokwe, Lagos
Nigeria is just a cycle of Hatred .

Only for those who understand history.
