Saying that our electoral choices can have consequences, how exactly does that amount to mocking the victims of insecurity?

A regime that pays absolutely no attention to the security of ordinary Nigerians. People are kidnapped all over Nigeria and there's a loud silence from the people elected to protect Nigerian lives. Now people are saying there're consequences to choices, and some cretins are trying to divert this with tribalism?

In 2013 after the Nyanya bomb blast, GEJ ignored the victims and went dancing on a stage at a political rally in Kano. The same people who joined us in dragging GEJ for his insensitivity then, are the same people now somehow defending the ineptitude and insensitivity of Tinubu on the bases of tribe.

Dangote is not father christmas to give free food to you or the ordinary Nigerian.

Nevertheless, the strides by Dangote in the oil sector is way more beneficial to the ordinary nigerian than all the governments put together since 1999. A single individual who employs more Nigerians than government and multinational operators, a single individual whose strides helps to directly and indirectly feed hundreds of thousands, that indeed is a hero figure, especially when compared with other wealthy Nigerians who dump and invest their loot in foreign countries.

Trust me, the only reason why the charade in Rivers was allowed to slide was because the isolated results from Rivers state alone was inconsequential overall. If the situation in Rivers was also the situation across the entire Nigerian (i.e. he's totally unpopular across rhe federation), the charade of writing results wouldnt have worked.

The truth about Nigerian elections is that votes still count. No matter how much rigging they do, politicians still need some level of genuine support, even if its just from a minority to be able to easily rig the rest of the way. Despite their plans to rig, these politicians know that votes still count, and that's why they still spend money campaigning and even buying votes.

For the first time in Nigeria's history, presidential elections were held without a presidential debate cos a key candidate called Tinubu was too afraid to show up. Even the semi-literate Buhari showed up for debates, but this is the person some intellectuals think is the best candidate to lead Nigeria at this time?

It just made me realise how deeply capitalistic and exploitative Nigerians can be, especially when we're in a seemingly better situation than before; we barely hear enough from normal people who actually relocated successfully without all this packaging around it.

There’s no education we pay for that isn’t already available for free. But many people still need human guidance because a lot of them either can’t research effectively on their own or simply prefer being guided by someone and are happy to pay for that guidance.

In the end, it comes down to supply and demand. If there were absolutely no demand for a product, there would be no sellers. You can’t really blame sellers for being resourceful enough to identify something people want and offering it for sale.

The only reason APC got votes in 2023 was because of the widespread poverty and illiteracy. Using the last election as a case study, APC lost in all affluent and enlightened neighbourhoods across Lagos and even Abuja. But won in other zones where poverty and illiteracy thrives. Tribe or religion wasnt even a factor. Same will happen again in 2027 - The weaponisation of poverty!

The last election can't be used as a yardstick to measure who's more tribally sentimental because OBI was clearly a better candidate who enjoyed the most genuine and organic support from voters within and outside his tribe.

To answer your question, whilst I would not dismiss the inherent nature of Nigerians especially from the 3 main tribes to be extremely tribal, if Tinubu were to be from the SE, he clearly wouldn't have gotten up to half the votes and support which Obi got in 2023. Likewise if Obi was from the SW, he would still have received a large chunk of votes from the SE. Possibly only 50% of Obi's support in the SE can be linked to tribal influence; the rest of it was largely influenced by merit, which explains why he also got massive suppport from other zones across Nigeria.

As I repeatedly pointed out prior to the last election, if APC had fielded someone like Prof. Osinbajo, despite the tribal influence, Obi wouldn't have smelt up to half the votes he got from the SE. In otherwords, the entire "Obi buzz" from the last election and even to date, and the landslide support Obi got from the SE, was largely a creation of the character and pedigree of the candidate fielded by the APC.

Whether we accept it or not, tribal and religious sentiments will always be a major influence in election choices amongst Nigerians.

A large chunk of OBI supporters support him because of his tribe. However, OBI also enjoys a massive organic support base from all over Nigeria, including the SW. I strongly believe up to half or even more of the 6 million votes OBI got in the last election were from non-Igbos.

Similarly, a disproportionately massive chunk of those not supporting OBI actually reject him purely because of his tribe. If OBI wasn't an Igbo man, his support base would have trippled.

On the other divide, a large chunk of Tinubu supporters in the SW only support him because of his tribe - they dont necessary like him. If OBI was a Yoruba man, Tinubu wouldnt have smelt any votes even in the SW.

Lastly, Tinubu supporters in the north support him for 2 reasons - first being that they dont like the tribe of his most visible rival (OBI), and secondly because of religion.

This agberoic behavior is what some unfortunate fellows glorify as "master strategy from the master strategist".

Their numerous comments already litter the thread glorifying barbaric politics.
