IPOB Igbo movement. Nothing more.
Men can lie, women can lie, but facts and figures cannot lie! Peter Obi won the votes in all the rich, affluent, influential, comfortable, educated and enlightened neighbourhoods across Lagos and across Nigeria.

Are you suggesting it is only Igbos that make up the population in these areas?

OBI won with a landslide in the entire VI axis, the entire Lekki area, the entire Ikoyi (even on Tinubu's street), the Ikeja GRA areas, Magodo, etc. Obi also won with an embarrassing landslide in the entire FCT, even in the Maitama and Asokoro axis, right into the presidential villa's polling unit, Obi won!

Again, are you suggesting it is only Igbos that make up the population in these areas?

Any sound person with an analytical mind can easily deduce the story told by the above data; i.e. educated, enlightened, comfortable and sensible Nigerians, irrespective of tribe or religion, voted OBI in the last election. Unfortunately, this group of people are outnumbered by the 'other group', thanks to decades of terrible leadership raping the minds of our people.

My definition of modesty and that of yours may be different but the most sincere question we should all ask ourselves is, if our modesty is based on how God through Christ Jesus defines and perceives modesty...

Yes, there are many cultures all over the continents and that has its own effect on everyone of us based on where we come from or are resident or what we've been taught.

Nevertheless, there is one God, one Jesus Christ and one Holy Spirit.
Irrespective of our culture the "Divine" within you should enable you to know what being modest within the confines of your culture is and not what the individual may think and it is.

Christianity as a religion has three aspects...
(1) The way of the Spirit of God.
(2) The way of the world.
(3) The way of the flesh.

If I were to mount a pulpit in Jamaica, I would not preach that keeping dreadlocks is not modest except if I am moved by the Spirit of God to do that.
Now, I believe we know that many of those who keep dreadlocks do so based on a belief system they were taught from birth. These dreadlocks are natural growing hairs and not those artificially done.
Now, by my conduct in that church and the conduct of others who don't wear dreadlocks, over time, the greater portion of the remaining half keeping dreadlocks should be able to realise and get their dreadlocks cut.

Christ will not be bothered about all that when he comes because, He is coming to take those whose are of Him and have satisfied the requirements given by Him.

Now to everyone who says they are of Christ Jesus, then the Jesus Christ in you if truly He is in you and the Spirit of God that dwells in you if truly our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, then we ought to know if cornrows, dreadlocks or skin cuts are approved of God.
These are like the attitudes or characters of every individual. The Spirit of God in you should give you that conviction if one still possess a bad or good character and which one is to be kept and which one the individual should put away.
At the end of the day, the main point you've made is that each individual has his/her own convictions as led by the spirit, and as such, our definitions of modesty varies as much as our fingerprints vary. Therefore, if you think within yourself, based on your own personal convictions that something is wrong, then by all means, keep away from it. However, it wouldn't be right for us to keep projecting our personal convictions on others as though they were the laws or commandments of God.

In otherwords, there a people who believe a woman wearing a trouser or even earrings is sinful, same way in which some persons believe, based on their own personal convictions that a man with cornrows or dreadlocks is a condemned sinner. But the truth is, there's absolutely no way in heaven or on earth that Jesus would be concerned about such irrelevant religiosity!

The most interesting thing about the Holy Bible which contains the WORD of God can never be outdated or go old fashioned.

Let me use this analogy.
There is a way of life for every profession and culture.
The christian profession and culture is without any exceptions and tboss who are true christians should know.

Those who work in the bank have a model of dressing permitted them to use in the banking sector.
Those who are lawyers have a model of dressing permitted them to use wirhin the premises of the Court.
Those who are strippers in clubs have a model of dressing permitted them same on the club as strippers.
Those who are engineers, technicians, etc have a model of dressing permitted when they are in the fields working or their workshop.

And so on and so forth.

Such is for the Christian "born again believer" who should be able to know his/her model of dressing permitted by the gospel of Christ Jesus. Christ Jesus and the early Apostles is our model of dressing and none other. Modesty is the word for Christians.

Those who still argue such things have not allowed the Holy Spirit to work through them.
They have not allowed the WORD of God to change and transform them from the inside to the outside.
A believer's spirituality should also have a reflection on his physical side.
Modesty!.... Are you aware your definition of 'modesty' is different from my definition of 'modesty'? The only thing that may align both our definitions is 'culture'.

If we both grew up in the same household or community, we would likely share similar cultural biases, sterotypes and views of what 'modesty' should look like.

You mentioned Jesus and the apostles were modest. So by your standard, we should all adorn loose fitting jalabiya robes to fit into your biblical standard of modesty?

You mentioned that lawyers have a way they dress at work and so on. Are you aware that lawyers in the USA dress differently from lawyers in the UK or in Nigeria?

Can you go mount a pulpit in a Jamaican church and preach to them that they're not being modest or Christian-like because half the men have dreadlocks?

Keypoint to note is that you guys are preaching and projecting your CULTURE, not the gospel of Christ.

If Christ were to come to the world today, do you genuinely think he would be concerned about whether a man has cornrows or dreads or skin-cut?

For Guys, Does not Plait Hair, do Dreadlock and have Tattoos.
For ladies, does not put skimpy skirts, legchains and nose rings. sad

We should STOP defending Nonsense. sad
Skimpy skirts can seduce and thereby lead people to sin; so that's clearly understandable why it's unacceptable.

But back to the topic on plaited hair and dreadlocks. I asked what a true Christian was meant to appear like and you said "decent". What's then is the definition of 'decent'?

The moment your definition of 'decent' begins to contrast with another person's definition, the moment you can't point out a single scriptural backing for your sermon, then you're simply preaching and projecting your cultural biases and stereotypes, not the gospel of Christ.

This is one of the reasons Christ instructed us not to judge, cos he knew if we were allowed to judge others, 9 out of 10 times, we would dwell on judging mundane and uselsess things which have no bearing on salvation. As a believer, the moment you start thinking your Christianity is better or stronger than others, then you need to watch it.

STOP JUDGING NONSENSE!

LegendHero:
I agree with point number one and disagree with point number 2.

Your $ is constant since you’re sending it from abroad. Depreciation means you dollar have more value in naira terms.

Before, if you’re giving one of your family member 300k monthly which is roughly $428 before Tinubu, do you mean to say because of inflation, you will be forced to increase the $428 to $800 which will translate to 1.2m using current N1600 to $1 rate?

Think before you speak nao. What common sense and inflation will double that value in dollar terms?

The increase is due to two things:
1. CBN Governor restructuring how IMTO remit into official channel
2. Devaluation because that means people will be encouraged to invest more in Nigeria through FDI flow and diaspora investments.
If I was supporting 2 people before, the current inflation and hardship means the number of struggling people I'm having to support now are like 10, so even the N1.2m is barely enough. My Nigerian bank account bled terribly in the last week, and this is the same story for a lot of people I know.
PoliticsRe: IMTO Inflows Skyrocket By 63.7% In Nine Months Following CBN Reforms by obailala(m): 8:29pm On Jan 06, 2025
LegendHero:
Yes, it is the special policy. Cardoso mentioned that in April 2024 at the IMF meeting. What they did was reconnect with IMTO and streamline the inflow more easier for them to use the official channel. Before then, it was someone hard. Check the screenshot below.

It is not common sense, stop saying what you don’t know. I send money back home coz I’m one of diaspora Nigerian. In your example, the reverse will be the case.

My $100 before is 70k, now my $100 is 160k. People you give urgent 50k to increased more than 2folds. So how does that miraculously mean you part away more fund?

The only thing you can say is that if you have projects you’re doing in Nigeria, it could push you to invest more now. For example, if you have plot of land you allow to lie there unchecked, it’s very easy to build it coz the psychology will tell you that your dollar now hold more value. That’s part of the reason for the inflow.
I guess basic economics isn't exactly 'common sense' as I assumed, so my bad!

I'm going to leave you with the same thing I said before though, i.e. the real factors influencing the increased diasporan remittances are:
1. Naira depreciation which motivates diasporans to send more money home.
2. Inflation and hardship in Nigeria which is forcing diasporans to have to send more funds back home to support family members.

I'm a diasporan myself and I know from first hand experience how the exchange rate influences my decision and the decision of people around me to send money home. I also know from first hand experience how much more pressure I'm under to send support funds to family and friends these days.

It's okay if you dont agree with me, it's okay if you choose to believe the increased remmitances is due to some magic performed by CBN governor.
PoliticsRe: IMTO Inflows Skyrocket By 63.7% In Nine Months Following CBN Reforms by obailala(m): 7:05pm On Jan 06, 2025
LegendHero:
You don’t have that common sense. The dramatic plunge in naira does not translate to more $$ in IMTO inflows.

—Before CBN reform: If you are sending $100 to Nigeria before, that 70k.

—After the reform: if you’re sending $100, it is now 160k.

So tell me what data point you use to automatically say when the naira value drop, it suddenly make diaspora to compulsively send $$ home to their families.
With the way things are in Nigeria today, so you genuinely believe it's a special policy of the CBN that's making Nigerians in diaspora send more money home in this period?

There are certain economic events which alter how people behave with their money (economic sentiments). If I used to send $100 back home monthly, the fact that the value has jumped from N70k to N160k activates my 'greed' and motivates/encourages me to send even more than $100 in hope of cashing out nicely. This is common sense economics!

Something similar happens when shops do 'sales' events where they slash prices (Black Fridays); it lures/encourages buyers to spend even more than they'd have normally spent because they want to milk out on the good deals.

In summary, currency depreciation creates an incentive for diasporans to remit more funds back home, just the same way it lures foreign investors to pump more funds into an economy; there's a reason countries like China deliberately devalues their currency from time to time.

Oladimeji556:
The Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) latest data has revealed a remarkable 63.7% surge in inflows from international money transfer operators (IMTOs) in the first nine months of 2024. IMTO inflows rose to $3.82 billion during the period, a significant leap from the $2.33 billion recorded in 2023.

This dramatic growth is largely credited to key policy reforms implemented under the leadership of Governor Olayemi Cardoso, who assumed office in September 2023.

#IMTOInflows

What a shameless attempt at making failure look like progress! The dramatic growth in diasporan remittances isn't the result of any silly policy reform; rather it's due to the dramatic plunge in value of the Naira.

Common sense law of economics - When the Naira value drops, it encourages Nigerians in diaspora to compulsively send more money home. In addition, the heightened hardship in the country is forcing diasporans to send more money back home to support relatives.

How did someone think this was a sensible thing to brandish as an achievement?

Azman lied in its purchase contract.

In short, it is illegal to help Iran facilitate any deal that involve the US dollar or Euro.
Now, Azman air is essentially a dead airline because it will never be allowed to buy

Now, how does this concern Nigeria?
If Azman air is culpable and the authority does nothing about it,
it could be assumed that the Nigerian state secretly backs such deal and thus all our
airlines could become target of various sanctions which will be very bad for our growing
