Out of curiousity, who's the fool in this case? A young man who stood on a public road taking random pictures of beautiful passing cars?

A lot of responses on this thread keep saying money money money. But the truth is, quite a mass of Nigerians are extremely parochial, sentimental, shallow and easily deceived. So you dont even need to share money all the time to sway opinions.

All a politician needs do is to whisper in the market square - "if you don't vote Tinubu, an Igbo man is most likely to win the election, and they will show us pepper". Once you say this in the north, regardless of the hardship, you can be assured of 90% votes for APC.

Yes this is tragic event but is it Mr President that organized this and moreover are you familiar with the culture of these people.
Obi blasted the president and the governor. The governor for being a painful dunderhead sycophant, and the president for not finding it fit to caution the nonsense.

What culture are you talking about? Culture of celebrating presidential condolence visit? Is this meant to be an attempt at defending the governor?

If they are talking about hypocrites, no one can win Peter Obi in that in Nigeria.

Up till today, James Nwafor that led the SARS dumping people most especially the massob members into Akwuzu river is yet to be arrested. He was arrested the other time but escaped. No one cares, not even the Obidients.

Anyways, Nigerians are waiting for Peter Obi and his supporters in 2027
Oh wow! I didn’t realize Obi had suddenly become the IG of Police or the DSS Director in charge of making arrests. Such a dumb attempt at diverting attention from the topic of discussion.

It’s this kind of painfully dull thinking that keeps voting in and defending useless, clueless leaders.

It is Peter Obi's suggestions that is actually focusing on the optics.. wearing mourning cloth bla bla bla..Whats important is the action of the government following the visit e.g. the activity of the elder's committee set up by the president and other directives. Who cares whether the president wears agabada. Obi is very shallow and keeps exposing himself as an hypocrite.
If the only thing you could take from Obi’s entire message was the agbada analogy, then you’re the one who's clearly shallow and slow.

A tragic event occurred that shuld prompt a solemn respectful visit. Instead the governor chose to organize a concert to 'welcome' Mr President. People were paid to cut grass and sweep yhe streets, welcome posters were plastered everywhere and crowds, possibly including cultural dancers, were lined on the streets to celebrate the president's arrival during a time of mourning.

The reason we’re stuck with such dumb and insensitive leaders who prioritize political sycophancy over human lives is because ee have so many slow people like you who defend every absurd action out of blind political loyalty.

As insignificant as these might be, these and other roads within the state have been totally useless in the last 26 years; shame on OUK, Theodore Orji and the last clown Ikpeazu.... Abia has for too long been cursed with the most useless and idiotic set of leaders. So you can easily understand why the people are happy with these minor improvements.

This might just be the most spectacularly idiotic attempt at attacking Obi so far. Only a true dimwit or a hungry sycophant desperate for crumbs could miss the obvious; the economy is in shambles and everyone with a pulse feels it.

So when Reno opens his mouth to say Obi’s bank is thriving in spite of this disaster, he’s not criticizing Obi, rather he’s practically saying Obi is a competent economic manager who knows how to steer a ship through a storm.

Amazing how some people manage to humiliate themselves while trying to sound clever.

Oh wow! When I wrote that down, I must have misjudged the comprehension capacity of my audience. My sincere apologies please. Allow me to break it down.

When I said a woman of her status needs a man of good financial standing, I was responding to a guy who claimed she wasn't married because she was busy looking for a rich man.

While I was emphasizing the importance of someone in her position marrying a financially independent spouse, what I did not say or even imply was that finances should be the only factor she considers (not sure where you picked that interpretation from, try to read carefully please).

Obviously she has to consider compatibility, character, family background and history, religious alignment, life goals, shared values, physical and emotional attraction and a host of other things.

So @lexy2014, whether the men she has met previously were financially okay or not, while that's important, it certainly isn't the only factor that matters when selecting a spouse.

The question you asked seems somewhat irrelevant to the subject at hand so I'm honestly at a loss on how to respond to you. Also, I'm sorry I don't do "yes or no" answers cos I find them too intellectually limiting to be meaningful.

Restating my earlier point for clarity - while financial status is very very important, it clearly isn't the only factor a wise person should be considering when choosing a spouse.

Except there's a deeper message behind your question which I'm missing, do you mind elaborating?

then what's the problem?
So the only thing you check before marrying a person is whether they have money or not? No compatibility checks, no mutual respect checks, no character or personality checks, no behavioral checks, no friendship or love checks, no family background checks etc. You just expect people to consider only finance before jumping to marriage?

I don't understand your question; or are you being sarcastic?

Yeah agreed - Nigeria's economy is not good, but for a better chance at a stable and happy home, what she needs is to be with an independent, financially stable and confident man; anything else increases the chances of a failed relationship.

MoneyMan5:
She is the one to blame if she want to follow some rules or conception

Life is more complicated than you all assume, who says you have to do things certain way or follow certain rules.

I'm sure with her capabilities she can easily get a well educated, cool headed gentleman that will be loyal to her , have considerable success that won't make her shameful even if he's not on the same financial standard as her and her family if she supports him many people won't even know who is richer between them.

I'm sure she is the problem herself.

Look at this Japanese princess that gave up her right and position in the royal family to married a commoner in Japan. Do you know what the Japanese royal family is ? Who is the Otedola compare to Japan Emperor? I'm it can never happen in Nigeria.
I didn't explicitly say marriages between rich or royal females and less well-to-do males don't work, some actually do. But they require an extremely high degree of emotional intelligence, open communication and secure self-identity from both partners for them to work.

Forget the Nollywood shenanigans, a woman marrying a man she's 100 times richer than comes with an imbalance which quite often erodes the man's self-confidence and ego, which will eventually lead to problems (if not now but later).

For a better chance at things working out, the man doesn't necessarily have to be as rich as her or her family, but he needs a certain level of financial stability and independence to be able to assert his confidence and leadership.

sweetkev:
Status is meaningless in marriage. As a lady, if you are more concerned about your status, don't get married.
Status is an extremely important factor for a marriage to work; forget the stories you see on nollywood.

The natural order of things is for the man to be the 'leader' and 'provider' in the home. That's the reason a man could easily pick up a girl from a dumpsite, clean her up, marry her and the marriage would work out just fine. But the moment you turn things around, i.e. a woman marrying a man she's 100 times richer than, it creates an imbalance from the natural order of things which usually rocks the foundation of the relationship.

No matter how respectful or well mannered the woman is, the status imbalance at some point would crush the man's self esteem, confidence and ego, and women naturally don't fancy for long, men who lack confidence to lead them.

Looks like people close to her aren’t even telling her the brutal truth
So she can’t help someone level up through her old man ?
Lol she go tey
Guys already made may not want her, maybe she’s looking for those dudes with ultra high status
She’s not as attractive as her sister that’s with Eazi
Let’s not even talk about character because we don’t know her
The smart thing she did was to lose weight, she used to be bigger
That ego will still diminish as the clock ticks
Tbh marriage isn’t for everyone, better to be single than rushed into mistakes, although eggs die off quickly
She should act fast if she wants kids
I don't think there's anything wrong with her wanting a man who's financially capable, independent and confident; someone who she or her loved ones wouldn't dare to view as a leech. There's nothing wrong with her wanting a man whose confidence and ego wouldn't be bruised by her status. And trust me when I say it takes a very rare and extreeeeme level of emotional intelligence for a man's self-esteem /confidence not to be impacted by the status imbalance.

Women find it hard to love men who aren't confident enough to 'lead' them, so regardless of her financial status, getting a financially stable and independent man is the best chance she has at having a stable and happy home.

I agree but she has been brought up in love all her life she needs to consider the love capital too not just the financial capital, I believe she has more than enough to sustain her earthly existence.
Of course love is important, but love isn't always enough for a marriage to work. A man can marry a woman who has nothing and the marriage works just fine cos that model follows the natural order of things; however, when you flip the table around, the financial imbalance quite often leads to marital issues, regardless of how good mannered the woman is (the problem usually stems from the mans ego and self confidence).

Yes she may have absolutely no money problems and can literally afford whatever she dreams of, but it's also vital that she settles with a man who's confident, independent and financially capable..

Her cook his one handsome man... If it's all about love , I think he's good enough for her. But she wants a Financial guy ...
A woman of her status doesnt just need 'any' kind of man. The man has to be at a certain independent financial level, else there'd be an imbalance which could rock the foundation of the relationship.
PoliticsRe: What Nigerians Think About Tinubu's Second Term Endorsements by obailala(m): 9:15am On May 23, 2025
CreativeOrbit:
Don’t patronize me with that lazy “read again” nonsense. I read it just fine the first time—and what’s actually contradicting here is your ability to process what was said.

The man’s point was that governors and lawmakers are endorsing the president because he’s funneled more money their way—not because of national progress, not because of any transformative leadership, but because their pockets are heavier. That’s not a justification—it’s an indictment.

So when I call that out as corruption, not merit, you say I’m contradicting him? No—I’m exposing him. You’re just too comfortable with mediocrity and greed masquerading as governance to admit it.

Here’s the bottom line: if a president needs to grease the hands of governors and lawmakers with outrageous allocations just to earn their endorsement, that’s not democracy—that’s organized looting. And if you’re defending that, then don’t pretend you care about Nigeria. You're just defending a feeding trough because your favorite pigs are the ones eating.

Now go read that again—slowly this time.
The reason you were asked to read the statement again is because the person you quoted never claimed it was a JUSTIFICATION, and neither did they suggest the actions were RIGHT. They simply pointed out the obvious (albeit selfish) reason why politicians were endorsing the president.

Anybody with a grasp of how the system works in Nigeria, already knows this is just another case of individuals lawlessly using security forces as private thugs for hire. EFCC has probably spent the last 48 hours desperately trying to cook up a meaningful allegation to present to the public.
